Samuel L. Jackson getting eaten by the shark is one of the most memorable, iconic, and hilarious scene in the whole entire movie. It's so simple yet hilarious. LMAO it never gets old.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was certainly a surprise scene. However my most abiding memory of seeing this movie in the cinema was the loud cheer that went up at the end when Saffron Burrow's character got eaten. One of the few example of a test audience reaction improving the film.
THEY ATE ME! A F*CKIN SHARK ATE ME!
I'll have a Samuel Jackson!
@@jozsa8043 I was waiting for that epic quote.
I remember watching this at the theater and being SHOCKED at Sam Jackson getting killed. The whole theater gasped, then laughed! Was great!
The fact that you're reacting to a buried treasure like this and the terrific banter and chemistry between you two and the surprise visits from your kids are what make You, Me, & The Movies one of my top reaction channels.
buried treasure? It has a 59% on rotten tomatoes and a 3/5 star review. It's considered a rather shit film lol. The only step down is 'The Meg' and 'Sharknado'.
@@TacticalSandals As Mr. Movies said, some people consider this the second best shark movie of all time, so one man's trash is another man's treasure. Also being under appreciated a prerequisite for becoming relegated to the kind of obscurity that defines a buried treasure. Also enough of people love Sharnado to made it a cult classic with multiple sequels precisely because it is so shit.
@@TacticalSandals Dude this was and is a good thing movie and any person with half brain doesn't trust Rotten Tomatoes, fuckin donny dipshit.
@@waterbeauty85 Don't listen to that dipshit troll, look at his past comments. He's a fuckin Derp troll with no life or drive. Just a useless husk taking up oxygen and resources. Totally useless as a non viable human being and not worth the paper he's printed on.
@@TacticalSandals the fact U base this film on reviews and rotten tomatoes does nothing for Ur opinion. Lol. This movie is waaay more fun than jaws. Jaws basically is a movie about three old Grogan's on a boat lol there's way too much filler and boringness in that movie. I find that it's mainly boring old straight ppl that love jaws. Lol
I love that she's so tuned in to cinematic rhythms and visual language that she correctly predicated when THAT moment was about to happen. :)
I mean....I think everyone knew that was coming xD
@@horrorcide13 Not at the time. Nobody thought Samuel L. Jackson would actually die. Especially not that early in the movie. That was also why it was such a surprise. LOL!
When they said it’s 10:30 it was 10:29 for me. So damn funny. I thought they should’ve shown one still get out at the end, would’ve been interesting to theorize how it would impact the structure of sea life and what type of shark it would mate with.
Fun fact: Jaws was retitled Haisommer (Shark Summer) here in Norway, Tremors was retitled Marksommer (Worm Summer) and Deep Blue Sea got to keep its title 😆
Really? I thought Jaws was titled Kjempetorsken up there.
That’s interesting. In English, “marksommer” means “slime-based game show host.”
@Jack Marcuson Do you need help?
Did any of them have any commentary on the nastiness of moose bites?
Neat facts! There's a joke in there about Marksommer and Midsommar (does Scandiwegian count?), but I'm too lazy.
What about "Corvette Summer"?
LL Cool J's character was supposed to die at the end of the film but the test audiences liked him too much, so the filmmakers let him live and give him the cross to stab the shark's eye.
Didn't the opposite happen to the head scientist lady, she originally supposed to live but test audiences hated her so much that they killed her in the end.
@Drake Loki
As a matter of fact, you’re absolutely correct.
Can't kill both of the black guys. I remember being upset as a little kid that they killed sam Jackson.
@@drakeloki4214 yep if I recall they said KILL THE BITCH
@@drakeloki4214 Fantastic
Mrs. Movies' dislike of water makes me wonder how she would react to "Open Water" which is one of those movies that sticks with you because it seems like something that could actually happen to you.
the third movie is terrifying. The last scene....that movie shock me
I believe open water is loosely based on a real event that happened to a married couple on vacation.
@@chadwickvon8019 That makes it more unsettling.
Mrs: "I don't like things that don't breathe air."
Mr: "Sharks breathe air."
Mrs is right. Sharks don't breathe air. They oxygenate their blood using their gills by passing water through and over them, allowing the tiny percent of oxygen that dissolves into the ocean to be absorbed. Gills are extremely efficient at this process. This is not breathing air though. Air is a mixture of many gases and is predominantly nitrogen.
Yeah this is basically what he said
@@garrettromer8499 Except it's not at all and OP is right. Oxygen is not air.
But thats basically what our lungs do to breath, the wet moist interior of our lungs act like the water/gills system, our alveoli cells dont get the oxygen directly from the air, it has to be dissolved in the wet lining coating those cells first the same way gills work.
So yes shark (and other gill'd things) get their oxygen basically just like we do and vice versa... it just our lungs are terrible at working with large (hell even small) amounts of oxygen rich liquids in them, but set up great at doing so in oxygen rich gases (but not to much oxygen, which can be just as dangerous lol)... while those with gills are the reverse.
After all mammalian/avian/reptilian lungs evolved from a fish like ancestor in the first place.
@@platinumspider7859 whatever ur being pedantic u know what he meant.
Stephen King, following his car accident, watched a VHS copy of the movie a friend gave to him while he was recovering, and loved every minute of it.
???? This s a joke right, because I don't get it. Wasn't the book Misery inspired by his accident? The movie based of the book is almost 10 years older than this film.
@@drakeloki4214 his accident was in 1999. I believe Dreamcatcher was the book that was released afterwards. Misery was written in the 80s and adapted in 1990
funny because thomas jane starred in kings dreamcatcher and the mist
Is it just me that now wants a Stephen King penned Shark book and movie adaptation?
Are you guys actually celebrating Shark Week with Shark themed movies. That's awesome

I remember watching this movie as a kid, it was terrifying. I loved the 90s for these types of silly horror movies. Another excellent one in the theme of "sea monster" that marked me was "Deep rising (1998)".
Yeah that was good.
Oh God is that the one with Bruce Willis? That or the one where they fill their suits with pink liquid so their bodies can take being down at those depths. Idk could be the same movie. It's been forever since I've seen it.
@@garrettromer8499 You might be thinking of Mercury Rising for Bruce Willis. They came out around the same time, I often got the name mixed up. But I love Deep Rising.
@@kalevi7821 my bad
@@garrettromer8499 that one is "The Abyss" (1989) with Dennis Hopper with the liquid oxygen mix.A great James Cameron movie!
What I really commend this movie on is that they don't do the whole "love interest plot armor" thing and do the thing where the love interests are the sole survivors, it actually feels very satisfying because as the Mrs. said, "If anyone deserves to get eaten it's her" and she did get eaten but got a redemption moment, also I feel like if anyone deserved to live it was LL Cool J, dude was just a humble chef working a job he loves and not experimenting on super sharks and he had to fight every step of the movie and not only got 1 shark kill, but got 2 freaking super shark kills. The ending to this movie is just super satisfying and I really think it's awesome because if this were any other film maker it would've gone a very unsatisfying way.
This year in October this film would be 23 years old and so far it still looks pretty damn good for its age 🙂
I love this movie so much. And it has some fun Jaws references too. The license plate Thomas Jane pulls out of the shark's mouth is the same one Richard Dreyfuss pulls out of the tiger shark in Jaws. Also, the deaths of the three sharks follow the deaths of the Sharks in Jaws, Jaws 2, and Jaws 3-D.
I’d be nervous - the Mrs. was quick to say about the sleeping shark “Oh, she’s just faking it.”
😂😂😂
This is definitely hands down one of the best shark movies, especially from the early 2000’s I’m glad you guys did a video to this! Hope you guys are having a good week!
Everytime their kid disrupts the reaction I be over here dying 🤣.
In my head their like "If you don't get your ass in that bed...."
😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀 kids will be kids
Need to see The Meg. Jason Statham roundhouse kicking a shark is everything you need to know.
That movie was so stupid but yet like watching a train wreck you can't stop watching it.
@@alucard624 They should have marketed in the U.S. as Dwight from The Office hires Jason Statham to roundhouse kick the largest shark known to man. They should have embraced the stupidity more.
@@alucard624 they are doing a sequel coming soon in the first one to me it is hilarious because it has some deaths in it
That LL Cool J sitcom you mentioned was called "In the House". It also starred Debbie Allen (Phylicia Rashad's sister) and Alfonso Ribeiro (aka Carlton from "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air").
Yep. He played Marion Hill a former NFL running back.
What a sweet kid, but I now demand a vintage late night show applause every time she pops by. You set the bar.
It's a great dramatic visual, but it always amuses me when these movies (and even Jaws does it) have the sharks break boats apart with their snouts. That's the most sensitive part of the shark. It's the bit you punch to make them back off (hopefully, though shark attacks are less likely that being struck by lightning).
Sharks wouldn't break boats that way for the same reason you don't head-butt with your nose. They do have big strong tails they could use, but it's not quite as immediately threatening.
Given Mrs's dislikes, I think James Cameron's "The Abyss" might be a fun watch (for us). I'd vote extended version, but that's me.
As terrifying as the pack-hunting sharks are, there are already deadlier examples in the wild, namely orcas. They've been observed to have developed several sophisticated hunting techniques, and, in going after baby Blue whales, have been known to employ a group of 60-80 orcas in rotating shifts to distract and exhaust the mother while keeping the baby from surfacing for air. This can take hours, but they manage it, which displays better organizational skills than many humans who supposedly do such things for a living.
orca's have been seen teaching their young the technique of temporarily beaching themselves to catch a seal. but they practise with the kids by doing dry-runs. its amazing how clever they are
Great white sharks have rammed and even holed boats a number of times. This is documented fact.
Great white sharks have rammed and damaged shark cages too.
I mean you’re right, but orcas do it for a living too, and have done it for way longer than we have
I have an irrational love of this movie because it throws all the shark movie tropes right out the window and I am so there for it.
Forreal, location and music and execution is perfect 💯
Thomas Jane was the main reason I like the movie because of him playing The Punisher in 2004. I would love to watch you guys react to The Punisher (2004 movie)
I'm one of those people that gets hooked into certain films and, no matter if this one suddenly airs on regular tv, or if it's available on a cable network, I stop what I am doing and have to watch! There is just something about it- despite the camp (at times) that makes me feel "YOU MUST WATCH THIS SHARK MOVIE!" Glad you guys are reacting to it! So much fun!
The feet and centimeter thing gets me every time I watch this. It’s like Mitch touching his nose in Dazed and Confused.
i love Deep Blue Sea and The Meg. I've got my red vines ready and i'm ready for this awesome movie
L L does have a song titled get down from his 1987 classic bigger and different album that just hit 35 yrs old. L L is on season 13 of TV show NCIS Los Angeles & his 90s sitcom was called in the house where he was an ex football player & he has a new album coming out
Wondered if anyone was gonna mention NCISLA. 😂 That show has been on so long I was surprised anyone wasn’t aware of it.
This was my JAWS growing up!
In the fact that it gave me a respectful fear of 🦈's till this day.
Great reaction as always.‼🍿🎬
Your daughter coming in at the end was such a touching moment I loved that
The Dr. that lost his arm is the real father of the ultra buff dude that played the NORTHMAN, a film you recently reacted to.
Loved your reactions to this fun film. You are blessed with adorable children. I enjoy their unscripted appearances from time to time. Love you channel!
The Dr is played by Stelan Skarsgard who played Professor Erik Selvig in several MCU movies, his son is Alexander Skarsgard, probably best known for playing Eric on True Blood.
The editing y’all did in this reaction had me dying!🤣 Great video as always!
Your music edits were hilarious!
When a shark's tooth breaks or falls off, there's another underneath that pushes up into its place. That's why there are so many sharks teeth found. Sharks & cats are my fave animals! Tiger sharks are my fave and makos second. Though hammerheads have the coolest shapes all around including best dorsal fin.🦈💙
PS I like LL's end credits shark song. So 90's!
You have the best patrons! They don't choose the same old mass consumption movies that most channels' patrons seem to.
19:11 Sharks basically have an infinite amount of teeth. If they lose teeth, they simply grow back over and over and over.
“He’s a shark rangler” appropriately used 3 or more times Lol!
So funny!
I got the chance to meet LL Cool J and speak with him about this movie. He told me he almost drowned, but it was one of the best experiences he had making a movie.
"Sharks hate R&B" lmao, dunno why but that got me
I loved this film when it first came out, even though it's so cheesy it's still quite scary and jumpy. I especially love the bit where SLJ gets got!
I am crying laughing at the shitty recorder rendition of My Heart Will Go On playing over the one scene 😂
Someone needs to do "The Deep" (1977), with Nick Nolte, Jacqueline Bisset and Robert Shaw. Same author as "Jaws", Peter Benchley.
Peter Benchley's Creature has the same plot of this movie in 2 episodes and 5 minutes of shark on screen
Leviathon is a good underwater one with Peter Weller. That newer movie Underwater I thought was awesome
You should check out Lake Placid and Deep Rising! :D Those along with Deep Blue Sea are my go to nostalgia creature feature movies. :) Lake Placid has one of my favorite Betty White roles and Deep Rising is just a lot of cheesy fun. X)
Deep Rising for sure!
Deep blue sea is a classic. One of my favorites. Easily 2nd best shark movie behind jaws. I was like 7 when this came out and remember watching it with my family and I absolutely enjoyed the shit out of it! 😂
By classic I assume you mean a movie that is an entertaining so bad it’s good movie because Deep Blue Sea was intentionally made as a serious killer sharks movie.
If you’re looking for other non-Jaws shark films that are, IMO, good you should give ‘The Shallows’ and ‘The Reef’ a try.
the shallows was nice
The Reef was really good. Hidden gem in the garbage heap of shark movies.
Yess... "The Reef" is my favorite shark movie
I haven't seen The Reef but fully agree about The Shallows. I wasn't expecting it to be good and it surprised me.
Sharknado 🤭
This was probably your funniest reaction. I laughed way too much.
George Michael's song Fast Love also begins with the intro 'Gotta get up to get down'... ;)
Jokes and puns were too funny with this one. My favorite, “LL hot J”😂
Came for the reactions, stayed for the good dynamic, jokes and those edits that make these videos so great. Out of all these reaction channel this be one of the illest.
That Titanic music!🙌😂😂 Love this movie so much. One of my most watched!
9:40 when she says "kay" and he gives the side eye
The second best shark movie behind _Jaws,_ that scene when Stellan Skarskard gets his arm bitten off and when Sam Jackson is killed by a shark always freaked me out as a young 8-year-old kid who was terrified of the beach.
Fun Fact: LL Cool is the first black man to survive a major horror film.
That should have gotten him at least an honorary Oscar.
6:32 007-981 Same licence plate number as the one removed during the autopsy in 'Jaws' - which in turn was a little homage from Spielberg to James Bond. Steven desperately wanted to direct a Bond movie and called Cubby Broccoli twice after Jaws' success offering his services but they turned him down. Now, to use his own words - "...they can't afford me."
Cool reaction as always Mr. & Mrs. Movies, you both take care
Awesome review of an awesome movie!!! Forgot how good and intense this movie was. Can remember seeing this movie in the theaters when it first came out - had a packed audience. The scene when SLJ gets eaten - think everyone in the audience pooped their pants when that happened!! Definitely nobody was expecting SLJ to get killed.
My favorite shark(s): Greenland Shark & Whale Shark - for such gentle sharks just think they are cool, and they do NOT get the respect or coverage that the more "obvious" sharks get.
So fun. I saw this at the theatre and damn it's a wild ride. Definitely my #2 shark flick as well. So intense.
Glad you had a fun time.
I saw this in the theater with my family on a holiday, boy was this bad. Glad you guys reacted to it, and as always, loved seeing the return of the little cinema bandit, up past her bed time. A really great "Jaws-like" movie is Joe Dante's "Alligator" it's a fun ride and has some truly chilling moments.
License plate taken from the teeth of the shark at the beginning is same as the one found inside of the shark in Jaws.
Makos are simultaneously the greatest and most terrifying sharks in the world. They are the smartest, fastest and have the strongest bite of any shark. The Marmaris Mako, caught in 1950 in the Mediterranean sea near Turkey, was accurately estimated to be 5.85 m (19.2 foot). A more recent sighting in the Mediterranean, 2020, near Ibiza, recorded a Mako at over 5 m (16.5 foot).
You and Popcorn In Bed are AWESOME!! I LOVE your reactions. Keep up the GREAT work. I've subscribed.
12:33 there's a movie with a shark that walk "Creature"
Such a fun and entertaining movie, specially for people that fear sharks or are afraid of confined spaces :D
When the missus talked about that the y live down there under water, it reminded me of a overlooked gem of a movie, the 2020 Underwater with Kirsten Stewart. Loved this one and would love to see you guys react to it. It has it all and more, underwater horror, misterious creatures, people geting locked in undeerwater bases, and a awesome suprise at the end :)
I lost it with the Titanic music added 😂 Too funny. You guys are great!
He made a big omlette in the ocean of that 🦈
I love these robotic sharks! The best looking sharks (also Jaws but more realistic)
Me and the Mr. both said "Go up" at the same time.
one of the funniest movies. When the shark jumps out in the middle of Jackson' inspirational speech, and then jumped back in. Too funny
I LOVE the ladder scene. It breaking and then falling backwards with the blonde then falling in the water….little me was shocked!
“God the horrible jokes” 😭 Y’all are too cute 🤣🤍

The Reef is an underrated shark movie.

Oh this was my first Netflix movie reaction and this was really one of my favorite movies and I’m with the cowboy hat man
Another fun reaction, think you'll do "sharktopus"? 😆 The children seem to be curious of all the fun you 2 have watching flicks.
I loved the Mrs. reactions to one of my favorite campy movies.
It's a very underrated gem, but for the sake of them seeing Janice and Tony in another movie together I really would love to see them react to Angie (1994)
Thanks for your reaction guys. Your little girl is so cute, bless her xx
Actually I think it was the Andes mountains where the rugby team in the plane crash had to eat their friends bodies to survive.
"Ain't you seen my movies? Juice, that was a good one."
Great movie.
You should react to End Of Days (1999), A very underrated horror movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger that came out the same year this movie did.
Hubby is on a roll with the quips. I'm rolling over here.
lol that titanic flute dude
Between this movie, Halloween H20 and Mindhunters, LL Cool J seems to be that rare minority character who always survives. Maybe you shouldn't have been surprised by his survival. Unless you hadn't seen those movies.
And he's currently in NCIS: Los Angeles. That show has been going on for quite some time now. I think it just concluded its 13th season. I haven't seen it in quite some time but it's a show I do enjoy when I watch it. He and Chris O'Donnell are a good duo along with Kensi and Deeks.
I'm pretty sure he hates it ... and he is very good in NCIS but... I still see O'Donnell as Robin (rubber lips are immune to your charms)
i agree this is a close second to jaws.
i LOST it when the titanic recorder music started
"Shoulda removed their teeth first"
Me: Oh, lord, getting gummed to death by a shark would be HORRIBLE.
(At 20:37) Bird: Like Hell.
LMAO@Titanic song during that scene.. Good editor!
The license plate that was taken out of the sharks mouth was the same license plate that was used in Jaws when they pulled the license plate out of the stomach of the shark. Same exact license plate 🦈
If you want movies for Shark week, here are my Options if you have not seen them yet. 1. The Reef (2010), 2.The Shallows (2016), 3. The Meg (2018). Honorable mentions - Bait, Open Waters and 47 Meters Down.
But if you had to only watch one movie out of all that i mention.... The Reef (2010) is the clear winner.
My favorite shark is the whale shark. Gotta love giant filter feeders. My favorite shark death in the movie is the electrocution. Using a live wire and some water to take out an enemy that thinks it's got you is something I've seen several times, and it's always a satisfying "gotcha! You SOB!" My favorite death by shark is the bird being eating in mid air. That was unique.
This is my favorite sharks movie. It took a lot of inspiration from jaws but the premise is different and the concept of highly intelligent sharks is amazing
One of my favorite movies ever
Used to watch this as a kid so much
I come for the movie reactions and stay for the young technical difficulties! ♥️♥️♥️
Two of my favorite people on the planet. Let's go. This gonna be fun.
The car number plate Thomas Jane takes from the sharks mouth near the start is the same one as they cut out of the captured shark in Jaws. Nice Easter egg
Deep Blue Sea is one of those movies where no matter how many times I watch it (and I’ve watched it plenty of times over the last 20+ years), I always forgot details about it. Like for example I forgot that they threw Stellan Saargards into the glass, or the fact that the rescue helicopter crashes into the control two weeks and blows everything up lol.
Btw true story: this movie came out in 1999. Two or three years earlier, my friend in high school told me of a dream he had where scientists at an ocean research facility used sharks to perform tests, and the sharks turn and how after everyone.
Fun fact sharks teeth never stop growing back 😂😭💀 “you must respect the sea” 😂💀
0:06 The shark pic looks so cute though this made me laugh so hard more than it should be. LOL
Great reaction guys, really enjoyed it. 👩🦈🤠
