Thank you! I don't have an exact count as to how many locomotives total but I estimate it to be around 200 with 150 of that being Conrail. I only have 25 to 30 on the layout at a time.
Very nice layout I love your locomotives the weathering is outstanding I grew up in Enola PA and spent alot of time watching all the yard activities I spent alot of time at the west bound hump bowl tracks for again very nice
This is an incredible layout with really awesome scenery and your yard is some of the most prototypical Style yard I have ever seen. I may be biased because I am a huge Conrad fanBut being a real railroader your yard is is practical and protypical. Keep up the great weathering and modeling! Joey
Great layout!!! Excellent track work. Fantastic weathering. Nice scene with the abandoned diamonds. Realism in 1/87 scale, that's what we all strive for!!!
Grew up in small town on the Ohio river so Conrail was all I saw for a period in my life. Thanks again for the tour. Your weathering is always the eye catcher for me. Would love to see you beat up(weather) one of your engines.
Thank you for watching again! I hope to start a locomotive build series in the next month or so on the channel and the weathering will definitely be a part of it.
Yor weathering is very nice I would love to see your weathering techniques for your locomotives and rolling stock again you weathering is really good I grew up and live in Enola Pennsylvania and saw all the Conrail yard traffic and ofcourse all the hump classification it brings back fond memories of the Conrail days at Enola thank you for your video I realy enjoyed it
Thank you! I have seen some videos of the Enola hump in action and that must have been cool to see in person! I am currently working on a locomotive build series that hopefully will be finished in the next month or so that will include my process for locomotive weathering.
Hi Steve. Just wanted to thank you for giving us a layout tour and way to end the video with some train action! I’m very jealous cause I always wanted an HO Conrail layout, we’ll see where I go over time, but keep up the great work layout looks great!
When I railroaded back in the day, we used to run those flat backs with the long ends coupled together so the engineer had a more clear view behind him when we switched in yards. I find it looks cooler that way but it's also more practical.
Very cool tour, love your layout, rolling stock, locos, and weathering...as well as your commentary. Thanks for posting a video of your layout. Cant believe its only 8x16!
Thx 4 the tour Steve, really nicely done! Can see why you got burned out on scenery, it's a ton of work! It's nice to sit back and chill 4 awhile and gather your thoughts for your next detail job. Really looking forward 2 see your progress in the coming months. Your yards, engine facility, your attention 2 detail, camera locations during your videos r spot on. Looking forward 2 your next feature, thx Ted!
Watched tour ...outstanding especially the rock cut curve...from Pittsburgh retired living in The Villages FL....Have a bunch of questions most about the cars...I model the Pittsburgh Rail scene... interested in your steel coaches and gons ...what did you do for their steel loads ?....did you design the troughs for the gons? .....appreciate and value your comments
Thank you Thomas! All of the steel coils are from Walthers. The scrap loads are a mix of Walthers loads and some Chooch loads that I trimmed to fit the various car sizes. The troughs in the gondola cars are all mostly made by Tangent and came with the G43 gondola kits. I also have a few troughs from State Tool and Die (www.statetoolanddie.com/).
I also highly enjoy the abandoned tracks it adds so much history to layouts and wished I saw it more, I’m going to have a near four foot section on my layout that’s abandoned or near abandoned track that will be rarely used for storage of cars only, beat and bend the tracks
Cool video, i like the idea of toggle switch for the signals. Great scenery and backdrop too, and a very nice yard. I like your layout and that was a great tour. well done
Awesome tour! Wow I am modeling a string on Conrail Ballast Cars and I see some similar parched cars. I used RR Archives for prototype photos. I also just painted a NJ Brass N6A caboose. I turned mine into a rust bucket modern day shoving platform. I’m loving the videos... John
Thank you John! I used pictures from RR Archives as well as from the Conrail historical society's online photo archive for the prototype photos on the ballast cars. Those are a fun project!
Nice job on the Lackawanna tower. You got the concrete color right on. Of course you Conrailed it with blue trim and it looks great. These towers still exist a particularly good example is at Steamtown In Scranton Pa. nicely done.
Great work here. I'm not a indoor railway modeler, but the weathering and track are first rate. Some people forget that the track is a model, too. The tower looks like some of the old DL&W cast concrete buildings. I like that rusted EL covered hopper was in one of the videos.
Love your videos brother 👍 Don't be bashful with that CSX power lol ☺ I would love to see a locomotive build. That seems to be my favorite part too. I just DCC'd an old CSX sd40-2 blue box athearn just for kicks and I've decided to go all out on it!
Thank you! A few more CSX units are planned for the future I just need to find the time to build them. Hopefully I will have all the parts I need within the next month to start the locomotive build series.
I really like the way that you did you rails. They really have that nice iron look I haven't seen much in model railroads. Also the trains seem to run really smooth which is awesome too. Do you have any tutorials on how you accomplished this or would you be interested in producing a video about it? Keep up the good work. I really like all the detail you put into the layout and rolling stock.
Thank you! All of the backdrops I use are from Trackside Scenery and are from their Hickory Hollow Series. tracksidesceneryshop.com/index.php?id_category=38&controller=category
For the switches I started by adding small jumper wires to the underside of the switch so as much of the rails are powered as possible. Also important is using tight rail joiners and soldering the joiners so that the connection going into them is good. I airbrushed on a coat of rail brown heavy to get a good base coat. Then came back and hand painted the sides of the rails being careful to paint the areas that make contact on the points as well as the areas that the points hinge at. The most important part in my opinion is getting good power in each end of the switch and powering the middle.
Some great modeling. I sure wish my hearing were better. Heard the narration but never understood a single word. Going to check out your other vids here, though. This looks interesting.
Thank you Tommy! Sorry about the narration being hard to hear, I use my phone to record my videos and don't have a way to use a microphone for better audio quality unfortunately.
What an amazing layout and a great use of space! New to the channel, subscribed and all. Do you have any videos showing the lower level you mentioned? I think you said it was mainly storage track, but thought it would be cool to see that area too!. As the layout loops around the entire room, do you have to duck under the layout to exit the room? (Silly question as I know the true answer: you never leave) :) Again, great layout and video. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I do not have any video of the lower level as it is used for staging only and is currently a bit of a mess. The section of the layout that has the mountain cut between the paper mill curve and the bridge section was originally suppose to be a lift out section. Once I started scenery in that area I decided to leave that as a duck under instead of a lift out.
I like the way you explained your layout and the tour. I would like to know how many engines you have and how many are Conrail.
Thank you! I don't have an exact count as to how many locomotives total but I estimate it to be around 200 with 150 of that being Conrail. I only have 25 to 30 on the layout at a time.

Thank you very much!
Scenery, rolling-stock weathering, staging, construction trucks, etc., all EXCELLENT. Well done, sir.
Thank you very much!

Super nice layout! You have packed a lot into the space that you have. Really enjoyed this video.
Thank you very much!
I really like the way you put the weeds in place. Nice job!
Thank you!
Great layout!!! Excellent track work. Fantastic weathering. Nice scene with the abandoned diamonds. Realism in 1/87 scale, that's what we all strive for!!!
Thank you very much!
I love your weathering of cars and locos. Your ballast also looks terrific. Well done!
Thank you very much!
Excellent weathering. Nicely done.
Thank you!
Nice work, bro. Lots of detail in a relatively small space. Thanks for the tour.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Thats amazing details..❤❤❤and a conrail fleet, so jealous❤❤❤
Glad you liked it!
Well done! I'm from Cleveland, so I fell in love with Conrail right away. Your weathering skills are on point. I feel like I'm really there.
Thank you!
Grew up in small town on the Ohio river so Conrail was all I saw for a period in my life. Thanks again for the tour. Your weathering is always the eye catcher for me. Would love to see you beat up(weather) one of your engines.

i to live on the ohio near Conway Yards what line/yard were you near if you dont mind me asking
Thanks so much for the layout tour. The cut is nice and I sure like all your construction vehicles.. 🤗
Thank you David!
Great scenery and detailing. Weathering is fantastic.
Thank you very much!

Vary nice model railroad. Certainly has the look and feel of Conrail! Good job.
Thank you very much!
I am blown away by the detail!
Thank you Zach!
Well done....Great scenery and weathering
Thank you Mike!
Just found your channel!! Your track work and weathering look so realistic!
Thank you very much!

That sounds like it is gonna be neat!

Your layout is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing more
Thank you!
Awesome layout. I’m planning a big blue riverline layout on the shores of the Hudson River.
I miss the 90s
Thank you! A riverline layout will defiantly be neat.

Well above average quality weathering
Thank you!
Finally, a sensational layout with Big Blue in its heyday. I loved the video from the first frame.
Thank you!
beautiful layout
Thank you!
Just goes to show that you don't have to have a large layout to have an awesome one. Great job, I'll keep watching
Thank you Max!
great tour, sweet layout for sure
Thank you Patrick!
Great looking railroad!
Thank you very much!

Thank you Brandon! I do not have have any videos on track work but I will add that to the list of future videos to make.
Great detail!!! Where did you get the backdrop behind the tower? Love the houses. Give great depth!
Thank you! All of the backdrops I use are from Trackside Scenery and are from their Hickory Hollow Series. tracksidesceneryshop.com/index.php?id_category=38&controller=category
This layout is incredible! Is there anyway that you could do a how-to for weathering engines and rolling stock?
Thank you! The next weathering video will more than likely be apart of a locomotive build series I am planning on doing in the coming months.
Excellent weathering. How to weathering videos would be great.
Thank you! Hopefully I can put a few weathering videos together in the next few months.
LOOKS GREAT
Thank you Ted!
How do you paint / weather your switches without affecting there moving parts and electrical?
For the switches I started by adding small jumper wires to the underside of the switch so as much of the rails are powered as possible. Awesome Layout 👍
Thank you Mike!
i really want this setup this is my dream setup.
Interesting, I watched your video's and figured your layout was huge! Any plans on F-Units?
Thanks for watching! Eventually I would like to build a ABBA set of F-units but with my main focus being the late 90's I haven't started that yet.
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃👍nice layout do a series on weathering freight cars and locomotives they look awesome 👌👏
Thank you Tom! Hopefully I will have another weatherling video ready in the next month or two.
To quote Dobie Gillis (us olde phartes remember him) .... Good Stuff, Maynard....
