    Quality over quantity. An interesting video, complemented by a great sound track (music can make or break a video) tell a story that makes a video enjoyable and interesting. We come here because we all have the common interest of motorcycles, travelling and exploring our world, your videos are interesting and informative, but its how you film, edit and use music that makes your videos stand out as something of a quality. I know how much work is involved putting together a great video, having an amazing country to explore is a bonus, but the star, producer and editor are the reason your vids are so great 😉. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

    You show a side of making RUclips videos that people don't appreciate enough (in my opinion) - How much time and effort it takes to create a single video.
    After watching this I feel bad for just pointing my iPhone at whatever I feel like talking about, then edit (cut and clip) it on my phone, then upload it through my phone.. Then again, your videos are truly the gold standard of motorcycle videos on RUclips.

      I'm not sure why my answers to some of this comments don't register. But ill try again. You don't need to put so much into it to make good content that some people will like. It is all about the story and message you want to send. To keep "perfecting" this stuff makes it much more enjoyable to work with and keeps pushing my creative mind to do new stuff. That is always a good thing 🔥 The gold standard, well... I don't know about that. But thank you so much for the kind comment. Appreciate that 👏🏻🎥

    Always enjoy your content Thomas thanks for putting in the effort to produce it. I’m hoping to do a bucket list trip to Norway in June / July 22 if we can travel freely. It will be good to see some of the beautiful places, from your videos, with my own eyes. I’ll have some cameras with me so thanks for the tips.

    Great to see the similarities but also differences in how we work. I agree music is an important part, not only to get it right but how things may change in the edit when you find the right song.
    Script works for me like this.
    1. I think about it and get it all in my head
    2. I write it down, somewhat different
    3. I shoot something completely different not using my notes at all.
    But still I think all 3 steps are contributing to what is actually created. Just not the way I thought.

      @tshansen  2 года назад +1

      I had no idea you worked like this mate 👏🏻 Cool... yes, when I'm writing down for my adventures or riding stuff, I write down subjects, but not what to shoot. Because it differ so much because of location and weather etc. So I just try to have a plan in my head so I know what to "look" for when I'm out riding. I do think we might have very similar approach to this. Great mind thinks alike... on that note? when will you learn me how to trow my tent up? 🤣

    This explains why your videos are on the next level. I find the real challenge is to balance the enjoyment of the journey without comprising it with video production. I guess it’s an individual choice on what takes priority and when. I know nothing about colour balance and edit only on standard iMovie, so pretty basic tools to play with. Cheers mate, great video.👍🏼

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  2 года назад +1

      Good Morning uncle 👏🏻 Yes, this can be a challenge for me as well... If I'm with a group or another rider, I focus most on the interaction between us. When I'm alone I focus on scenic stuff. Every morning I try to set a plan of what the day should bring. I tell the story with me waking up, and leave camp, then I can ride for hours before I film again. If it is a place, me getting some food, looking at a tourist place etc. and I finish the day with we arriving camp at night. If you portion out the day and you let your riding buddy in on it. It is amazing how much you can film and tell without filming (if you know what I mean) Maybe I should try to do a behind the scene video parallel with my normal video, so it can show more how I do this? would that be of interest? iMovie is a good tool, but limited in many ways. But it does all the basic stuff great 🔥

    A lot of thinking and work go into your videos, Thomas. You can see that. And as you said: Don't waste your viewers' time.
    My style is different, though, much less of a precise plan, more of a spontaneous approach. Like voiceover in only one go. I wrote like that as a journalist and it has worked well for me. For the editing process we're not that much apart. But your final videos are a million miles better. So there is room for improvement ;-)

      Thank you Günter, and yes, we all have our different approach to this. But there is some golden rules that just seams to work the same for everyone. Always great to learn new stuff, and not to mention, be inspired by what others do. I find my self looking trough a lot of videos at this moment, trying to find the right angle for my next long video, and see what I can be even better at for my new projects. Cheers 🤩

    Love it! Yes, color grading would be great. Also do you use a flat profile when recording on all your devices?

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Scooter 👏🏻 Well, yes and no 😆 I shoot in flat (protune) on my gopro, and i shot in flat (d-cinelike) on my drone, this add one extra step of dynamic range. And on my Sony i change between S-log 3 (flat) S-Cinetone and no picture profile. Det best result is without a doubt S-log3 but it takes quite some time to Color grade, so I don’t use that if I’m run and gun shooting on my motorcycle trips, or don’t need all that extra quality in the footage. If I’m doing some cinematic sequences i prefer to do it as flat as possible, but then i know i will spend some time to perfect the picture in post. I will use some time to explain this in the upcoming video and show how little difference it can be but how huge difference it is in workflow. Hope this answered your question, but i will elaborate on this exact subject in the next video. Cheers 🔥

      Thank you mate, I hoped this could answer some of the many questions i get about this subject. And there is no secret about how many hours i use… it is a lot 🙈 It all depends on the video, like this video i used some time to get all the footage and write a good script. I don’t use that much time editing travel videos, i feel that is much easier. I guess i work with video or video related stuff about 4 hours each day, if not more. Yeah, i get mad about that trend my self. I absolutely hate it and i hope people can get inspired to stop that crap 🤭
