Running a DJI action 4 with the DJI mic 2 - put -12 DB in the menu and chucked the mic in a tail back with lots of padding ,still get the cracks (very loud pipes). Great video. Now I am planning get H5.
    My current setup is Zoom H1 and lav mic, which cost a bit less than H5. Clipping the lav mic on belt, right above my butt. This location can reduce most of the wind noise, but the sound from H5 is so much better !

      Is HN1 good for recording pipe sound? Or should consider higher models?

    • @a99770a997
      @a99770a997 2 года назад +1

      @@haisanjafri My recorder is H1, it's is an older model. It picks up wind noise easily after 60 km/hr. This might be attributed to the configuration of my bike, CB1100 which doesn't provide a wind-proof place to mount the recorder. Most common place to mount H1 is the storage space under the backseat, but my CB's storage space is at the middle of the bike and it's too far from the pipe. That's the reason I put an external lav mic.
      The H1N has new features like, 3 lv. of low cut and limiter, some says they work well as wind noise cancelling features.
      I got several idea from other good sound quality channel, using H5 or H6 with dynamic microphone mounting between mudguard and wheel. This is what I'm planning to do as soon I saved enough money, a big amount of money.

    Great vid Rob, thanks for this. I've been a m-vlogger for some years but one of the main things that stops me proliffically uploading content to the Tube of You is the poor quality I previously got from both audio and video. Fast forward to 2022 and I'm now rocking a more up-to-date GPH9, but as tech has advanced I'm now running audio from my helmet intercom into the media mod of the GP, I'm still not happy with the limited control over the audio from the GP, so I'm now looking at ditching the spoken audio into the GP and maybe, as you have done, just run ambient bike/wind audio into the GP, and recording both MY audio as well as that from my intercom into an external handheld such as the H1n or similar.
    I had been looking at the Zoom Podtrak P4 as it also doubles as a Podcast interface (which is something else I'm looking at delving into) but it is bulky for the bike and the inputs are XLR.

    therefore the best solution to have cleaner audio is to use a zoom and then an external voice recorder, insert it in the backpack as you showed in the video.. for someone who doesn't like to talk but just wants to make videos where you can only hear the environment and motion it is the solution best do you confirm? because at first I thought about the rode lavalier go microphone to put inside the helmet, but then I remembered that if he had to speak "alone lol" or stupid example: sneezing, it would be heard in the final audio, so the best solution is the zoom inserted inside the bag, also because recorded zoom audio is superior to the rode microphone

    Great video with valuable tips, I'm looking for a wireless microphone to use in the helmet that pairs via bluetooth with the go pro 11 but apparently it doesn't exist... I can't believe that at the current technological level of the 21st century, motorcyclists have to ride with a bunch of wires and all sorts of kludges, just to get external audio on the go pro... Sacant by the manufacturer, which for commercial convenience prefers to sell expensive and monstrous adapters, harming the user experience, than allowing a microphone or wireless headset pair via bluetooth, which I believe would technically be possible, unless I'm mistaken...

    Great video and timing…now all I need to do is go for a ride and get some sweet, sweet audio 🤗 also love your backpack trick - I’ve tried using some gopro/camera mounts to my bike and am finding the zoom gets a weird rattle noise through the frame at high revs so I’m definitely gonna try your backpack/beanie trick 🤗…one question tho…how do you get your gain levels set whilst it’s in your backpack (does it muffle sound much?)

    • @MotoFeelz
      @MotoFeelz  3 года назад

      Yea it’s best to cushion it otherwise you’re gunna get rattles, or vibrations throughout the audio.
      It muffles sound a bit. In post is where all the magic happens. The first time I try my zoom in a new spot I always have the headphones attached and give the throttle a crack. This gives me a basic idea. Then throw an EQ on it in post boosting highs and mids. Blending my helmet mic comes in handy for definition too

    I have struggled with this... GoPro Hero 9 and 10 black were overheating and random lockups, totally unreliable... The DJI Action 3 was great for video, but the audio with external mics was horrible, the only way to get good audio was with the DJI wireless mic setup, but it was clunky and lots of pieces, and its not waterproof and got fried in a rain storm. Am now on the Insta 360 One RS 4K with a Road 2 LAV... and on that, you can reduce the gain to -18dB but it still gets a bit of clipping, and that's with TWO wind socks on the mic... I recently got the Zoom H1N and that does give me fine control of the audio gain, but it has to sit in my pocket and sometimes it shuts off.
    I just can't seem to find the right combination of things, to get both excellent video, as well as good audio without having to jump through too many hoops... I feel like if GoPro could fix their overheating and stability issues, and add some ability to turn down the gain on external mics, that would do the trick...

    Thanks for the video. I have a new H1n with a purple panda that I've been experimenting with inside my full face Shoei. My voice sounds all "jumpy" and shaky. I feel like at times it doesn't even sound like me. I've tried closing the vents on the helmet. Gain appears correct. Cut off any low volume filter stuff. Still not pleased with how it sounds. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    You should list which bikes your riding and protective gear you wear as well. I like your bike and may want to test ride one!

    Great content. I do have a couple of questions.
    With the zoom why not use it all the time to capture your audio?
    With the chin mounted GoPro you ( I think you did) hooked up a lav mic under your seat then moved it around. How did you get your two lav mics to hook into your GoPro. Help pls. What did I miss?
    Thanks from canada

    Can you connect the Zoom to the gopro to avoid having to sync audio for every clip?

    It looked like you were adjusting your XLR input level without having anything connected via XLR...

    For recording pipes, do you reckon a purple panda plugged into an iPhone could be used an external mic in a backpack? Just trying to make the most of the hardware I've got. It has the same problem as a GoPro in terms of not being able to adjust input levels (I think), but would solve the problem of having to route a cable from the GoPro to a jacket as you've done here.
