I just turn my GoPro on, pray to the bike gods that I have an SD card inside and the mic is recording, and then go. I should take notes on this video...
This was a master class! Thank for uploading it to RUclips. Most others would have sold it as a course. I really appreciate it. I’m travelling on my bike in some remote areas of Pakistan right now, so this was what I needed.
I feel like I can work for a movie studio with just a GoPro after watching this video 😂 Thank you so much for creating this content! I learned an incredible amount as I knew nothing about filmmaking fundamentals before watching this video. A very well-deserved like and subscribe 👍
Dude, this is NO JOKE the BEST video for gopro setup. The way you teach and explain everything perfectly fits with my learning and editing style. I'm going to save this video for when I get super deep into film making. But I do have one question, why does my gopro hero 8 upload footage in really low quality? Even in 4K the image quality looks really blurry and horrible. And it shouldn't be an SD card problem, I bought a SanDisk 128 GB card.
This video contains a wealth of knowledge beyond GoPro and demands more views. Perhaps retitle this video: Video MasterClass: Amateur to Pro in 30 minutes (Or something like that). I saw the video because I'm subscribed to you otherwise I would have missed it and I'm currently searching for this type of tutorials. Remember most views are from nonsubscribers. I'm diving into Reddit and spreading this video. Great video man; keep up the great work.
I don't own a GoPro.. but I've seen quite a few of these tips and tricks videos.. my man.. this is a goldmine! I feel like I should have paid money for this!
I do work in audio and film a LOT and man, I watch every video I come across on RUclips for fun and Harris Heller as been one of my go tos as far as finding the equipment to handle the job goes, and I think people should really add this video of yours to their list of references on how to utilize and work with said equipment. This has been one of if not the most informative videos I’ve seen to date
this video was great man, seen a lot of people new to gopros recording poor videos and I was getting concerned that the gopro 10 just wasn't worth it. But nah.. just people new to cameras that didn't know how to manage the settings well, without your vid I might of been one of them, thanks man
My goodness. I've been looking at multiple GoPro setup videos every now and then and I'm always struggling a lot with my own GoPro filming (so much useless footage). This is by far the most detailed and well-explained video on this topic I have ever encountered. A lot of the stuff I already knew/figured out myself, but you presented it in such a clear way that all these concept connect clearly! I may actually order some more GoPro's for my trackday onboard footage after all.
I came here expecting a simple "click this and that" tutorial, ended up actually watching a 30mins lecture on how to be a better cinematographer. Good stuff boss
After watching half of your video I feel bad I don’t have your bank acct to properly compensate you for all the knowledge you shared and time this will save me. Thank you so very much. Best Gopro video I’ve ever watched. Kudos.
Thank you man. as an amateur I really learned so much from this one video. I had no idea that I should edit my 60fps videos in 30 or 24 fps to get the best result from the slow motion effects! I've been editing my 60fps shots in 60fps and was thinking 'hmmm why is this slow motion not as good as I thought it would be?'. I'm gonna reduce my current 60fps project to 30fps and see how it changes the slow motion there.
Hey Mike.. GREAT Video. I've been researching this topic for a while now and I keep seeing conflicting advice, especially around shutter speed, NDs and stabilization. Your coverage of the topic was the most comprehensive and insightful, so thanks, you saved me a ton of time testing. Two questions: 1) In your Profile 2 or Heavy post-production you had EV Comp at N/A. I don't understand that. Why wouldn't you dial in -0.5 or -1 stop of EV comp? 2) What ND strength are you using to get 1/240sec? And are you locking shutter at 1/240sec or getting it there with ND strength and then leaving it to auto so that it can adjust exposure if required?
Hats off, man. This is by far the most complete "to use" GoPro guide I've seen so far. A lot of work put to film, explain and put together. Big THANK YOU! 😘
After watching this video, I am glad I purchased Hero 10 and accessories related mostly to my sport touring rides and getting familiar with my first brand new RT 2022. I was wondering which settings to use to get the most from that camera and later for post production. I took notes and screen shots from this video. You saved me from a lot of lost time… thank You Mike.
Working up the gear for recording our motorcycle trips. This has been the most information rich video I've found! I may watch this multiple times as I am learning how to use my equipment (Hero 9, Hero 3, iPhone 12, Mavic Mini 2, Final Cut Pro). Thanks for all the work you did to create this!
Thank you so much for having enabled the subtitles. Your video is very interesting in addition to all those about motorcycle driving that I follow closely. Greetings
My first time trying to record myself motorcycling, I placed the mount on my helmet so far forward that all I got was two hours of footage of my handlebars and the road. Thankfully the weather was nice that weekend, so I just saddled up and went out again the next morning . Also, thanks for the tips, really useful. I have a lot of good gear now, just need to learn how to use it!
Congrats. I guess this is THE best explaining video, containing everything you need to know and change, on RUclips. Liked, Subscribed and Shared. Keep on your masterpiece of videos and thank you for helping me with my 2021 restart on my channel.
Dude I went from shopping online for a new action camera for my motorcycle 3 hours ago to watching this video. Now I want to sell all my possessions and become a monk. It’s time for bed. All kidding aside, amazing video. I love when people are masters at their craft. Thank you.
This video is fantastic!! I was having so much trouble dealing with noisy footage and terrible audio. The standard settings for the gopro cameras really are quite poor. Thanks very much Mike, you really know what you're doing :)
Great Tutorial Mike! I especially like how you demonstrated all the different GoPro Settings! I have been shooting and editing since 1984 and have seen the industry evolve to such a high level in the millennium! Retired now, I love the GoPro, have Hero's 4 Silver & 5 & 6 Black, the years of touting a 15lb. Camcorder on my shoulder are long gone! So the teeny GoPro serves me well in my retirement Videography! Also the the Premiere Pro 2022 works a lot better in processing my video then the older Premiere Pro 1.5! You have really done your Homework Sir!
Bro the production quality of this video spoke for itself, I knew I found a good video before I watched it. Good is an understatement though, this is the best video I've ever found about this topic. You deserve a sub 👏🎬
Ok, this is one of the very best explained videos I've found. While I focus on cinematic footage, but from a slow platform, I think I can take this information and have a better direction to work with. Thank you. And after watching this, I think I need to invest in a set of ND filters given how much footage gets tossed out in my channel videos because of the sun on the water and such. Thank you! I'm going to watch this one several more times to try to get it all through this thick head of mine
Wow. I got lost with the Final Cut and color grading. I will have to leave my comfort zone of imovie for editing and get the Final Cut and come back to rewatch. Thank you! Everything I gopro has been in 1080 for years. I hate my video resolution. This video will allow me to move forward. Thank you again!
What an engaging video, very informative and well made, I often get bored with long videos, (poor attention span, lol) This was the perfectly produced video for me
24:44 this footage looks out of this world! That is probably the best footage I've seen from a gopro, driving facing the sun. Amazing job by not blowing up the sky when using such long shutter speeds while facing the sun. I think this was possible because you've you've used 60fps + 1/240s. If you've used 24 fps with 1/96s or 1/48s, the sky would've blowin out for sure. I guess you've used at least ND 32 even here?
I just turn my GoPro on, pray to the bike gods that I have an SD card inside and the mic is recording, and then go. I should take notes on this video...
Hahaha!! Oh Lali. 😂
I did pretty much the same until today!
Best comment ever!!
That sounds so familiar for some reason lol
Ditto, girl :"D
This deserves to be a full course. Amazing detailed guidance! Thank you so much for sharing!
One of the most concise and elegant lectures I've seen in a while.

Have fun, my country is beautiful
As a final year signal & image processing engineering master student.. this was spot on :)
BLDH what are you doing here??? Oh a new GoPro Tutorial time to lern😂😂😂 (dude you already do great content)
You're a signal and image processing master student and didn't pick up the claim that higher ISO results in more light? 😉
@@BillMaryon the result is brightness...same shit
@@GuitarTherapy144 only IF shutter speed and aperture remain the same, and it's an ISO-invariant sensor
Lol nobody cares
dude. the amount of time you spent on this video. flat out amazing just saying. i've watched it twice now just to absorb all the info you give out.
Perfectly summarized in ~30 mins it’s gonna benefit a lot of people 👌🏼
i feel i owe you money for watching this masterclass. thank you Mike
This tutorial is absolutely stellar. One of, if not the best bike-specific GoPro tutorials I've ever seen.

That's actually an invaluable video. The amount of time it saves you...Wow, thanks for the excellent work!
This is absolutely one of the best videos out there explaining the basics of ... Everything. Also love the very Swedish pronunciation of Husqvarna :D
