    I was thinking about updating my GoPro to the Hero 9, but after looking at some comparison footage I see there is nothing changed or anything i would benefit of updating. They use the same sensor on the hero 7, 8 and 9... so until they release a update with a bigger sensor that does something with the picture quality, i stick to the much cheaper hero 7

    I will not upgrade to the Hero 9, it use the same sensor as the hero 7 and hero 8, so you wont get any "better" footage out of the new GoPro Hero 9 for my usage. I hope to se a GoPro Hero 10 next year with a one inch sensor.

      Hello mate. DJI Osmo Action 2 might come out this year, maybe before Christmas. Should be atleast same, but most probably better product than Hero9 for cheaper price. Just to consider :)

      Hey mate, you might wanna double check that. Pretty sure it doesnt use the same sensor. As the image resolutions are higher.

      It has a new sensor 😉
      www.techradar.com/news/gopro-hero-9-black-vs-hero-8-black-9-key-differences-you-need-to-know
      Extract of text there:
      With its new 23.6MP sensor, the GoPro Hero 9 Black has almost double the sensor resolution of the Hero 7 Black and Hero 8 Black, which enables it to capture up to 5K video and 20.2MP photos.

      so im watching this a year later, and I know that the sensor size didnt change, however on the 10 it nowh as the new processor, and the Insta 360 has one with a 1" sensor mod, however when ive seen a few comparisons the GoPro stillcomes out better, i have the 7 and i have a 9 coming in, the main downfall of the 8 was the lack of removable cover (if you're clumsy like me) what did you end up doing in the mean time?

    Thanks for the info! After researching iMovie, Adobe Premier; Final Cut Pro; LumaFusion; and Davinci Resolve: I decided Davinci is my best option for features for value. The ~$300 is well worth it, since I only pay once. I’ll be paying for it soon.
    I’m just learning how to use it; and seeing different styles and preferences other videographers are doing: to get a better idea of what will work for me. 🙂👍🏼

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 года назад

      At this time, i don't see any reason to choose anything other then Davinci because of the obvious reason... it's free to try as long as you want. And the money is well worth it when you use the program slightly more than just now and then. Yeah, i always recommend to watch others, learn from them, see what they do and put it into practise. But most important, dont get yourself hooked on specs, LOG and all the nitpicking. Just enjoy the process and make better content for each video 🔥

    Thanks for sharing! I have learned that I can set the EV to -1 so that the gopro will blow out highlights less, Which is great because I cannot edit this in post in Imovie.. (so I also have to leave the sharpness at medium). Because I want to shoot linear and slow-mo, I choose to shoot at 2.7K 60fps. Also, that way, my video file size isn't blown up as much. Looking forward to see the difference in my footage! Cheers ;)

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 года назад

      Yeah, sharpeness at medium is a great option if you can’t control it in post. I find myself shooting almost no slow motion in 60fps! When i do, i plan it and run 120fps! I tend to get almost like choppy details when filming in 60fps! But i think this can be because i run with auto shutter speed some times and the camera goes down on the shutter speed in the dark areas? Not sure and have not tested it to much. Glad to hear you found something usefull in the video 🔥👏🏻 stay safe mate

    • @thebrightrider
      @thebrightrider 3 года назад

      @@tshansen 120fps is the better option for slow-mo ofcourse. But as you said in the video: when you're riding, it's nice to not have to change settings and sadly 2.7K 120fps doesn't allow hypersmooth stabilization.. so I'm bound to 60fps, but don't really have problems with it. Details are going to disappear anyway because RUclips has to compres the videos :(

    • @tshansen

      Thank you mate, really appreciate it. If i know i will be riding in same conditions or in a certain place i will lock the shutter speed with the ND filter at twice the amount to what FPS i run. But in most situations i'm riding with the gopro on my helmet and goes into various conditions so i leve the shutter speed on auto. It does not matter if i get a high shutter speed some times when it is really bright. I rater regulate it inside some parameters with the ND filter, not the shutter speed. It is easy and does not leve me with ruined footage if i forget to adjust it. Hope that was a good enough answer to your question. Feel free to ask me anything if you need more of my set up. Cheers

    Det er en super god og instruktiv video du her har lavet. Det er en stor hjælp til mange video bloggere. Det eneste jeg ikke forstod var dit råd om at uploade i 4 K timeline! For at få den bedste kvalitet på RUclips. Hvad mener du med 4K timeline uploading?

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 года назад +1

      Takk for det... uavhengig av hvilken oppløsning du filmer i, bør du jobbe i en 2.7k (1440p) eller 4K timeline. I de fleste redigeringsprogram kan du velge hvilken oppløsning filmen du lager skal ha. dette er hva jeg kaller en "Timeline" Det første jeg gjør når jeg starter Davinci er å velge et 4K prosjekt. Uansett hvilken oppløsning det er på materialet jeg bruker, vil den endelige video ha 4K. Altså du oppskalerer eventuelt HD materiale. Men det gjør fint lite da du ikke ser igjen kvalitetsforskjellen på youtube. Om du forstod det bedre?

      Hello mate... well, the first problem is that you use a ND filter when it is cloudy and kinda dark weather outside. This is not necessary, it's only needed when it's bright sun or clear skyes. See it as sunglasses for your kamera sensor. I'm sorry if this did not come out clear in the video. You may push the exposure in post when you edit. It is really dark, do you shoot in 60 or 50fps as well?

I'm doing Color corrections with the frame you see at 6:12, but when I scrub trough the footage you can see that I need to lower the overall highlight of the footage, It looked fine at 6:12 but at 6:29 you see I need to drop it just a little bit more. This will alter the whole clip I'm Color correcting. If you have a long clip you may need to scrub trough the whole thing and see for dark or bright spots.

    great video. Which shutter speed do you use with your ND filters? double the frame rate? I know that's usually the standard, however, I have read somewhere, can't recall where, that apparently for motorbike videos, because everything is moving much faster than normal, the rule of double the frame rate doesn't really work, and in fact the shutter speed should be higher. What do you think about this?

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 года назад +1

      I leave my shutter speed to auto in most cases, but yes, the general tumb of rules are double the frame rate. But yes, if you have high speed footage you should turn up the shutter speed even more to get more blurred lines, and have superview on. Depends on what you are going for, and what kind of footage you are using 👍🏻

    • @TheBikeFather

      @@tshansen you leave it on auto even when you use ND filters? I thought the whole idea of using Nd filters is so we can control the shutter speed.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 года назад +1

      @@TheBikeFather Yes, you do control the shutter speed... if you use it on a sunny day, and put on a ND filter, you see that you lower the shutter speed alot. But when riding in various condition, you are better of leaving it on auto, because the stabilisation does not work when it gets to dark (shadow area or tunnels etc) If you know what you want to get, and can control the environment you set it as you want. If you run and gun, its best to leave it on auto, because then you have much bigger chance of not get blown out or to dark footage. With a Gopro, you can go alot over double the frame rate without loosing quality. Shooting cinematic shots with a GoPro is not even a question 😆

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 года назад

      Yes and no it the right answer for that question. The picture getting jittery has nothing to do with the ND filter alone. It is how the hypersmooth works in the camera. But if you tried to play it in a 120fps timeline it wold be choppy as well, if that make sense? If you use a ND filter, it is almost like putting shades on your camera lense. • @tshansen
      @tshansen  2 года назад

      4K or 1080p are the same when it comes to frames pr second. 60 can be used when needed, but 60fps won't get you better footage than 24 or 25 fps. if you don't know what you will use it for.

    I just discovered my Sena Prism 1080p at 30 fps look real blurry when I upload them to RUclips. I found out RUclips now. I found out RUclips is forcing AVC coding on most 1080p now, which gives very poor quality. To get the " Super User " quality which is VP9 codec, you have to be shooting and uploading videos in 1440p or higher. Ahhhgg ! Anyone else experiencing this? So what the heck do we do with all our action cams that go up to 1080p?? Thanks for tips. Kam

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 года назад +2

      Hello mate.... the easiest way around this is yo use your 1080p footage and edit it on a 4K timeline or export the final result in a 4K timeline. Did that make sense to you? The same way we do it when we shoot 1080p slow motion footage, you just ad that to the timeline and let the program upscale it. When uploading to youtube you wont be able to see the difference 👍🏻

      @@tshansen Hi Thonas, I'm facing the very same proble .... I shoot at 1080, so how do I upload it into a 4K timeline?? Do I change/chose that in the "Render Settings - Costom" ??

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  3 года назад +1

      @@mats.wickstrom When you open a new project... go down in the right corner to the cogwheel. select master settings and under timeline resolution choose 3840x2160. If you already startet a project and forgot to do that, you can go to the delivery page and under export video you choose custom and type inn the perferd resolution. If non of the above work, you can just open a new timeline in the ongoing project and choose a different resolution on that and copy paste all your work into the new timeline. Hope that helped. Cheers

      This is correct, it is Worse on the DJI Osmo action than on the gopro! But as long as you don’t use a ND filter on cloudy days, just in bright sunlight you should be ok
