      There is a lot of different ways you can get the same result in Davinci, but you need a little bit of understanding of the different nodes to make it work like you want. To polygon you can add most png and images. Just make the center x&y to animate on the polygon.

    When I want to make multiple compositions, i.e. for different sections of a long trip, I would be using a different background map and of course changing the red route path. Are there ways to copy the first composition and trade out those two elements without creating an entirely new fusion composition? I really like this composition method so far. It's the clearest and most direct instruction I have found for these animated route maps.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  2 года назад

      Hello Charlie, so glad to hear you found this video helpful. Yes, you can copy all the nodes, and paste them in another fusion composition. And just delete the node that contains the keyframes for the path. And change the media node that contains the map layer. Just drag and hold over every node, control or cmd + C and cmd + V to paste. Hope this explains how you could do it without doing everything all over again. With this method you just need to attach a new map/picture and draw a new line, then animate it. Saves a ton of work. Cheers

      You already have one animation created between the media in and media out? And you want to add another one? Just put in before the media out.
      you can add as many media IN as you want, as long as its going down the same pipeline and end up in a media out. everything can be individually animated etc.

      Thank you Sir... 👍🏻You want the map to cover the whole screen? you just drag a Fusion composition down to your timline, and the map (MEDIA IN) you attach will be the map you see for the whole duration of that fusion composition you just draged to the timeline. when you are finished with the map animation you can drag the whole fusion clip from the timeline into the Power Bins and reuse it like drag and drop. if you need to change the map or the animated line, you just change the media in node and the mask paint node. Hard to describe this with words...but i hope you did get something out of it. Cheers

      I think route/track animation is a great addition to ride videos and a lot viewers ask for route/track. I have used screenshots from BaseCamp in some videos to show where I did my ride. But animation is of course a lot cooler. I have experimented a bit with a software that is able to import GPX-files and animate it on a map. (even multiple GPX files to animate more than one rider at a time. So far it seems to be OK. See link to a video I have made below, still experimenting with the software. If you use a GPX recorded by you GPS you will also get date and the time progress showing in the video. It works well on Mac, I have not tested in Windows yet. Will probably use this software in the future. It is called GPX Animator. Will post a link under here. Happy riding and filming !!

    Nice video. I bought a DJI Osmo 3 and started using Davinci Resolve because of this channel (your fairly recent video showing camera setup, colour correction etc.) It broke down the barriers for me and made me think I could do it. I watch a lot of motorbike travel videos, and always am looking to see if I can work out exactly which roads are ridden on in the video. So few creators bother to put maps in. I really appreciate people taking the time to do that. I will do it for my videos when the weather is good enough for me to make some.
    Anyway, question: have you looked at Google Earth Studio? It's possible to do really fancy stuff, I have been playing with it, but I wonder if it is actually worth doing that, 3d fly-throughs etc. over a simple, clear map like you draw in this video. There is something about the clarity of a more cartographic map, rather than the satellite/aerial imagery in google earth.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  Год назад +1

      That gives me a lot of joy to hear mate... My goal was to make it as easy to understand as possible. So many that covers colour correction does not talk to the absolute beginner. It is a craft by its own, but small simple steps can make such a huge difference even for a beginner. And when you feel you master the small things, you can move on and try to learn even more about colour grading. It is quite fun when you get the hang of it.
      I have looked at google earth studio a couple of times, I feel some times it is quite choppy and laggy. It spins in a strange way and I have a hard time controlling it to make a good result. I always try to do stuff that most other dont. Most people use google earth, so I think it is a little bit overused. It is much more fun to find an other creative way to show where you are and where you are planing to ride. Write on a piece of paper? marker on a travel map etc.

    The overall length at 16 seconds sees the line travelling at the correct rate, popups at the correct time etc.
    The problem is that, in order to fit the voice over properly, I need to 'pause' the write on animation (and everything else in that fusion comp) at the 3 second mark - pause of say 5 seconds - and then recommence the composition from the point it left of.
    I'd really appreciate if someone could tell me an easy way (or indeed any way) of accomplishing this.
