      Find the Sol fuse for ABS motor on your bike, cut the wire on the output side of the fuse , connect a switch in series with the cut wire, run wire to handlebar mounted switch. Now you can turn off ABS on the fly, to get ABS back on you need to turn handlebar switch back on and cycle to Ignition on an off, you can cycle ign off/ on , on the run, only takes a split second. Personally I don’t care about turning ABS back on while moving, but I like to turn off ABS on the fly as required .
      If you leave the fitted handlebar switch off, ABS stays off.
      Cheap and easy

    • @flatgrindrides
      @flatgrindrides 10 месяцев назад

      @benlondon8467 When I did it, I actually started to install a switch, but then realized that the circuit is a 30 amp circuit that is always hot, even when the key is off. None of the parts shops locally had switches rated to 30 amps DC. I've seen some guys do a relay and a lower rated switch, but I just kept it as simple as I could with the parts available that day. I don't have much experience with electrical tinkering and tried to keep it simple. I've since removed it because I didn't use it that much. The hassle factor was high enough that I just kept the ABS on mostly. If I knew I was going to be offroad alot, especially on loose, steep terrain, I would stop and pull it. Then I tended to just leave it off for the day and adjust my riding accordingly. Even without the fuse extension to the dash it only takes a few minutes more to pop the panel and pull the fuse. It would be nice though to be able to just switch it on and off on the fly, especially rear only! Maybe on my next bike.😉

Abs motor only draws about 10am ops, and only very intermittent if you’re locked up . 20amp switch is fine. But if ya want to put a relay in to handle load better, do this.
      Change over relay Bosh etc Narva, use the normal closed connection 30 & 87a as your connection between the cut Sol ABS Wire, have your switch drive an ignition supply to terminal 86, ground 85 pin. Your relay will now take the load up to 40 amp, your switch quarter amp, got circuit but only thru the relay N/C contacts sitting as normal. Hope that helps, it does work, just put the ABS in fault mode , switching back off, cycling ignition ABS back to normal within seconds, you can cycle ignition on the run also when you hit the tare etc.

    Hi Thomas, i own a 701 enduro, and i also runs it with a dongle similar like yours. I remember, when this bike was new, and this dongle was not installed, i rode thru a sand mine, and some point the ABS almost killed me, when i pulled the brake and nothing happened. From this point i never ride a bike whit the ABS turned on (on or offroad)

      For me I chose the T7 WR instead of the AT because it's 3000 euro's more, 10 kgs more and 5 liters of fuel less. Ok, you do get a lot more ponies and more electronic features. Apparently the T7 is easier offroad, you can lug the engine better at low speed. The AT will be more comfy on road. Coming from a R1200GSA I wanted to have something that would give more confidence off road with luggage, instead of something that is a lot more like the GS. But I guess both are great, depending on your priorities.

    That smells like a firmware fix long way! They really need to do it - even if you already paid for a different solution, that is definitely something that can, and should, be fixed in firmware.
    And they really can't motivate why it shouldn't be there in the way your gadget fixes it. What Yamaha sell in this place is sloppy engineering.

    • @goatman86
      @goatman86 10 месяцев назад

      They literally can't legally do it. Eggheads in EU decided that ABS has to be switched on after every ignition cycle for... safety. Even if safety means no brakes in soft terrain when you forget to switch it off. Oh the irony

    • @JEmmertz
      @JEmmertz 10 месяцев назад

      Can you reference the source of that,@@goatman86 ?

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, this is restricted with electronics. No doubt about it, but from what I have found of information online, it is a safety thing so they can sell it on some countries. But I will ask Yamaha directly about this, because it does not make sense to not have the option
