I have an FJ-09 that the previous owned "improved" with a different map, exhaust, and intake. Sure it got an increase of 8-9 HP, but LOST 20% fuel economy, even when hyper-driving (hypermilling). "Moral of the Story": The Yamaha Engineers know best how to optimize performance VS fuel economy. Most people want the T7 for an "Adventure" bike.
The air filter pack is interesting. Good idea. I use the Hiflofiltro. It look very similar to the original one. My off rad is max 1% of my whole riding. But I want to ride a bit more off rad in the future. Still I get enough power of my T7. There is no need for different mapping. But the difference of the few horsepower more (real test at the air field , TOP !) was astonishing. Thanks for sharing with us.
I don't have this kit, but my T7 has the ECU remapped, full exhaust system and a Twin Air filter, and makes quite a nice difference. The engine pulls harder, better acceleration and there's more torque available. Very usable in the trails. But this air filter kit is something maybe one day i will try. Anyway, great video.
Sweet package. The ECU tune is the big part. I didn't tune my T7, just swapped the can for a Mivv Dakar. But if I were to install a performance intake and header, would definitely tune the ECU. There's places you can send them into to in the US. But I'd just bite the bullet and take it to a dyno. Lower fan temps and optimized fueling with an unrestricted intake/exhaust is definitely going to add some power. As well as weight savings.
It's good to see the airfilter's priced under the Brexit Duties trigger of £135 👍 I have a full titanium Akrapovic system on my 21 T7 Rally and have fitted the DimSport tuning module and love the extra power, which makes overtaking quicker and safer. Keep up the good work Robert.
That kit is really a no brainer. it just makes more sense just to see it installed it's a must for sure better quality and flow you wouldn't even need to test to know it is better than stock

With this wide open air intake an ECU remap is mandatory to prevent a too lean mixture and an potential engine damage. Also in case you'll add race pipes with less resistance. It would be interresting to see if and how your fuel consumption changes on future rides. Have a great season, Bernd 💙💛🏁🤛🏼
ECU remap, acrapovic and similar air filter ! Lower on fuel if you go highway 70-110 But a litle higher if you run it like you stole it😁 But every T7 owner should do it , it Will be a better bike

I wonder why the original setup has that long snorkel ? does it do anything at all? the power curve with the new filter and mapping has exactly the same little dips and hikes. Just more of everything overall. I was hoping for a slightly more exiting topend so that the fun lasts a little bit longer into the high rev range.
the design of the snorkel is to prevent water from entering the engine through the air filter when dropping the bike in the water. When laying on the side or tipped over, it should create an air pocket inside, thus preventing the water from entering, I assume.
The cage and supports look 3D printed. Do they sell the stl files for personal use? I have my own printers with industrial grade filament and resin - I think they would hold much better to shock and vibration.
@@NomadSweden take the airline out in the box lookthereis 2 airintakes they are way to tight get the replacement for them makes them double ifnot triple the size while that's out look in the the throttle post it only opens about 1 third, sand the little plastic down check it again and keep going until fully open, you ca buy a replacement but dot bother just sand it a little hope that helps for you?? if not give another il try find the links for you
I haven't really noticed any change. I used to have around 4,7 l/100km and it's the same for mixed riding. But ofc depends on the riding. I ran a full tank on the highway this weekend in avg 120km/h. It consumed 6,7 l/100.

Love the bike but i feel if it was a 1400cc engine instead 700 cc i would be much happier. Not interested in high rpm, i want low end. Anyone tried bigger rear sprocket or something similar to get a bigher punch in low rpm ? Results?
@@NomadSweden , have you tried África Twin? Is It significantly stronger on low rpm or so so? The specs are interesting 98 nm torque vs 60 ish on the Tenere. Much heavier too.
@antoniom4639 AT is more comfortable on long rides. In offroad not much better. T7 has all power you need offroad. More power can not be used in dirt. Only on asphalt racing.
it's not good, that cover lets the water fall into the airbox which, being sealed, cannot evacuate it, it will all go into the engine. I'm talking about water taken during the rain and during the motorcycle wash. I did several tests over the years and as far as it increased it was dangerous for water.. in an hour of driving in the rain I found a lot of water inside the filter box. To be used only without rain.
I like your videos, but this wasn't a good comparison. It's pretty obvious that Seymor rolling the gas to slow (and with two motion) every single time.
Yeah the only way you gonna know is if you dyno the bike before, install the part and then immediately dyno the bike again. This butt dyno / drag racing nonsense doesn't mean anything.
It is cool to see how little can make such a huge difference. I bet the "feel" is quite good as well. This is probably something many T7 riders would do to their bike. But the big question is, will Seymore do something with his bike? Great video Tjommi 🤩🤌🏻

Yes, additional fuel consumption can be important. I wouldnt want additional power if i lost 50km range!

Agree this was bot a scientific test. Most important is how the bike feels and I do notice more torque.
In summer season you will oil this filter much more, won’t you? Apart from installing the prefilter, I mean. Nice add-on for the T7. Gaaas!!!

My exhaust is the Mivv Dakar with db-killer. I did not till them which exhaust I have but you could ask them about this if you are interested. cheers

There is quite a big difference if you could try it. Sound over intercom delays which is why have trouble timing
Not only hear he's later, but can actually see it in the wrist movement. He was sandbagging.

I tried it. Better technical riding but too high rpm on long travel.
