Quick shoplifting tip: get a new roll of paper towels , pop the plastic in the middle where the tube is, fill the tube with all sorts of expensive cosmetics, when you check out only ring up the paper towels and get the goodies inside for free
If only Walmart had working cameras in their stores. They utilize fake cameras to fill out the areas they aren't concerned about. But the cameras are mostly aimed at the employees to prevent employee theft.
So happy to come across this. One of my favorite LP moments was shortly after we got this young-up and coming manager who was very good. Great guy and loved him as well as our LP guy! Our LP team was very experienced and successful. I forget exactly what I was doing, but assume I was helping out seasonal as I was a GM Sup at the time and was in the garden center. I see some guy run past the garden center with a bunch of stuff heading towards the shopping center across the street. Seconds later see our LP guy running while grabbing his chest, yelling! In the same direction. Few seconds later see my MANAGER speeding past into the road in the forklift to help also yelling. Then another literal few seconds later, see police lights and sirens passing and swarming the next door shopping center. Words do not do justice of the chaos that was in that moment and couldn't help but laugh my head off and remained to be one of my favorite memories at Shopko.
Basically - the caught suspected shoplifter is backroomed before doing the investigation and resultant consequences and/or arrest follow. Something like what happens when you suspect a card counter at a casino.
All shoplifters are always very cooperative and will follow the LPs instructions. LOL

Shops give count numbers of items before taking into changing rooms so they know how many items come out.
I remember watching this in 2003, the reason why I remember is because I remember who our store manager was during that time period.
I heard Shopco was g-hay
