I'm a good honest guy, but I totally agree! And armed with today's knowledge and back thens lack of cameras/security measures, I think I could be a super thief back then. And placing some bets and buying stocks while I was there won't hurt either haha
Everyone gets caught sooner or later. I've arrested lots of professionals and amateurs. It's a game of hide and seek. Some people just have it and some don't. There's nothing better than arresting a professional in their trade.
Damn I’ve worked in loss prevention for the past 14 years and just realized that thieves have been using the same old tricks over the years. Also, interesting 🧐 to learn that there were junkies in the 1950s who stole just to support their drug habits.
Before they had alarms at the door. I don't think it was beyond 1960s technology it was before it was necessary. Because I remember when I was a small boy in the 1960s they had a electronic eye at the supermarket. I would walk through it just to hear it buzz till someone said hey kid stop playing with that lol.
Wow, electronic eyes are that old? Fascinating. Also as for me, those things were highly inaccurate. I remember putting my gym gear (including stuff for the shower) and going to a pharmacy, the shit would always buzz for the stuff I brought into the store. No one cared.
I took a candy bar when I was about 7, my dad walked me back into the store and went the cashier we knew well & made me give it back and apologize. I still got a spanking when I got home BUT I never did that again! (I now in my mid 60's)
As Captain Peacock would say, "Mr. Humpfries, are you free?". (oh, but don't get Mrs. Slocombe started talking about her cat - she says if it's not attended to by 6:00, she'll need to stroke it for the rest of the evening!)

This video was made when small businesses were the norm. And I agree don’t steal from small businesses or people but as for Walmart that’s a different story. Don’t really know who’s robbing who with them. What butheads instead of hiring more cashiers to fill the mostly empty registers, they treat everyone like a thief and force you to do the job of people they used to pay but prices have not come down. Corporate profit records on record margins. This video is out of touch with the current economy. As they say, back in the good old days days. Can you imagine what you could of bought for a dollar back then, but thanks to the federal reserve that same dollar doesn’t buy you a drink of water
These days no need to be sneaky or creative. Just take and walk out of the store, at least that's what most do. Also this training video lacks diversity
The clip starting at 9:50, i get how the clip after they showed how she did it, but where in the fist clip (starting at 9:50) did she do that? Ive watched it over & don't see it lol
I Know back then those businesses had no security patrol or cameras to combat shoplifters until decades later because this is why these places go out of business because of these shoplifters .
Try to get the average police department around here to take shoplifting as seriously as the department in this film. They won't. It costs money to handle shoplifting so they won't bother.
I don't know how I even noticed this, But the opening music was used in the movie Creepshow. (The lonesome death of Jordy Verrill. Doctors office scene. )🤔
They say once a thief, always a thief pre judging him as being unable to reform. It don't look at the bigger issues at play causing him to do that. Now he'd have a hard time finding work because criminal backgrounds go too deep into his business. While there may be times when a background check would be appropriate, it disproportionately affects minorities and adds to the problem of recidivism. In the name of protecting society, release from jail is undermines ad paying one's debt to society and when they not given chances, as they said the jail did nothing to help him whilst he was in there, it really does hurt the whole society more than it helps. I'll give an example. I'm in AA. Sometimes when a new person comes in, we know sometimes addicts steal to support their habits, yet we may very well give that person a church key and have them open up, make the coffee and set up. We demonstrate the faith in that person. Many people who were given the coffee position early on have stayed sober because of that. So why would we deny someone who stole, possibly out of desperation and having to survive, decent opportunities? Lemmetellu1thing. God don't like ugly. Everyone makes mistakes.
My great-grandfather was arrested for shoplifting in Kansas in 1959… and received a 50-year prison sentence!! That might seem insane today, but statistically crime was much rarer back then… He passed away in prison during his 31st year of incarceration, at the age of 83… I miss him every day ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
There are literally zero black or Latino people in this. It was the 1950s. They didn't have Latinos in videos for educational purposes then. It says something sad about the times. The fact that you thought you saw any says something sad about you.
Wow. Even the drug addicts looked classy back then
Now they're zombies on Traq
I'd love to go shoplifting the 50s!
If time travel we're possible you'd probably get away with it most of the time, no surveillance camera's or any other anti theft devices back then.
I'm a good honest guy, but I totally agree! And armed with today's knowledge and back thens lack of cameras/security measures, I think I could be a super thief back then. And placing some bets and buying stocks while I was there won't hurt either haha

Love & Light from Miami Shores🦚
Stay safe mate🌎✌🏼
Peace & Prayers for the people of Ukraine🕊️🙏🏼
Practically nothing is new under the sun!😊
You didn't know that ?
There have been junkies stealing stuff for 2000 years.
The only difference is in today’s world they don’t even try to hide it.
LOL watch out for the drug addicts stealing coffee percolators!
Big black market item.
18:50 those are some nice Pendleton wool shirts. Today they'd be vintage
I'm really learning a lot from these old timey shop lifting tips and tricks! It's going to be the best Christmas EVER!
Man this would have to be the golden age to have been a booster. I can't imagine how easy it would have been
I just realized the term “Booster” is used today!
one of the things that make films like this so wonderful is their timelessness. there truly are no new tricks..nothing new under heaven, so to speak.
That’s what’s so wild. Even with the age of technology, a lot of these shoplifting tricks are still used 70+ years later.
Great tips on how to shoplift lol
This film is actually from the 60s, as I see a lot of 60s GM cars.

Mama whipped me at 6 years old for walking out of a store with an unpaid toy. I never shoplifted again!
I took a candy bar when I was about 7, my dad walked me back into the store and went the cashier we knew well & made me give it back and apologize. I still got a spanking when I got home BUT I never did that again! (I now in my mid 60's)
There is a some music score heard here used on the some of the older Yogi Bear cartoons!
I always walk into Walmart with my cardboard box and jacket over one shoulder. It’s not suspicious, it’s auspicious.
I didn't know they had floor walkers back then. I seen them on old British sitcoms like are you being served.
As Captain Peacock would say, "Mr. Humpfries, are you free?".

What was that in the car in the beginning of the video?
Excuse me, did you just come up behind me to my car?? Maybe you should rethink that. This will now be the worst day of both our lives.

I don't know if the box trick will work today. People are very suspicious of boxes these days.
Maybe the hollowed out glued together school books😂
it doesnt matter if its suspicious or not, you cant be stopped just because you have a box, unless theres a specific policy at the front entrance
It was a much better time, shoplifters dressed respectably and weren't tweaked out bums running out the door with a cart full of stuff.
These days no need to be sneaky or creative. Just take and walk out of the store, at least that's what most do. Also this training video lacks diversity
Today they probably wouldn't even get near a jail!
Now just how in the hell am I supposed to leave without anyone noticing I have a wholeass coffee pot or waffle iron under my jacket???
The clip starting at 9:50, i get how the clip after they showed how she did it, but where in the fist clip (starting at 9:50) did she do that? Ive watched it over & don't see it lol
The pregnant booster with sticky fingers.
I'm taking notes 👀👀
Can you imagine seeing a store clerk who doesn't have tats and a few pieces of metal in her face?
Heck nowadays just get yer hommies go into a store, take walk out with whatever you want. In some places keep in under $900 and your are good to go!
Te xas differnt your ass be in jail if caught . Don't mess small buisness the owner keep sidearm n carry permit
@@diablo666541 Texas only goes after petty criminals, they are afraid of violent ones
No such place
This is why the best stores have a dress code
Those stores look dark and weird
Time to break out my bloomers and go Christmas shopping!
I thought people were civilized in the '50s unlike today
You thought wrong. There’s bad people and good people in every era
I Know back then those businesses had no security patrol or cameras to combat shoplifters until decades later because this is why these places go out of business because of these shoplifters .
In old days small business bcarried or had firearms close by. Unlike today do nothing corporate stores n no firearms policy.
You mean these stores didn't have CC tv cameras before they existed?!
taking notes
Try to get the average police department around here to take shoplifting as seriously as the department in this film. They won't. It costs money to handle shoplifting so they won't bother.
And now after the BLM riots as long as it's under $999 they won't even arrest you!
@@frankcannon764 tf does BLM have to do with anything?
why was it called boosting?
It's still called boosting. They steal things for the specific purpose of selling them to other people.
I don't know how I even noticed this, But the opening music was used in the movie Creepshow. (The lonesome death of Jordy Verrill. Doctors office scene. )🤔
The intro song reminds me of the theme song on "Highway Patrol".
No the average mens jeans of good quality are at least $100
I get it was much easy to get away with back then. What's with the Psycho music
They r basically showing you how to steal in this video! 😂
These women all have hair like my grandma😂😂😂
i think there was a Leave it to Beaver episode about shoplifting.
That what I say I think there were beaver n his freinds got caught stealing from a store.
Back then, shoplifters looked like bank presidents.
In the 50s.
Everyone WAS 50!
and there were white criminals.
Shoplifting is such a rush 😊
@ 8:35 "That's a man...baby!"

50 years?!? Holy shit, I hope ol grandpa at least got em for hella shit before he went down.....
Ever notice how focus on blacks n Latinos on this film even anti drug films depict m as addict or dealers

Idk but all I see is white people. Maybe watch next time before you comment you racist bs.
