I was blessed to see this little monster at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course back in the 80's at an IMSA GT event, and like the Mazda rotary engines over the years there, this M1 could be heard around the entire track. Talk about a "Earschplittenloudenboomer"!!
I wish there was more footage on youtube from that gold Warsteiner livery M1 Procar at 0:15 😞 That one has by far the best sounding exhaust. It has that beautiful V12-like, higher pitched howl👌
Most people don't know an NA inline 6 can sound like that with the right exhaust/ headers set up😏 I know 2 other inline 6 BMW race cars on youtube with similar high pitched howl.. but this gold M1 Procar is my favourite.
There are some really clever, attention to detail type parts to the imagery captured here, like the pan to M power on the bridge and the zoom into the red hot exhaust as the reaches the end of the straight 0:33. Nice work. 👍
these days you see flames from an exhaust you think somethings terminally wrong. but back then, every sports car in competition was a healthy fire breathing monster on wheels.
