I was actually fuming at the title because I thought you were gonna show something different , like duh, bmpcc is supposedly the first camera of choice for beginner filmmakers. Then I saw that you were traveling with the 4k and I was like wtf!!! You might be the only person to do that . Your colorgrading is simply gorgeous . Can you make a tutorial on it?

@@kieran2790I think his major "secret ingredient" is an insane saturation/vibrance boost, but that can only look good if you have decent footage (10 bit high bitrate/raw)
I got this camera second hand 2 years ago for the unbelievable price of 600 euros which included cage and top handle. Crazy enough it was in pristine condition and I can only concur on all points made in this video. The image is absolutely gorgeous :)

Black magic cameras are so easy to use and the touchscreen and ui is great. but I was put off them at uni, they bought a bunch of pocket 6ks and 2 out of the 6 ended up getting a manufacturer defect in which the camera would just have the fan run constantly and the screen would be black. It was scary we thought we had broken thousands of pounds of equipment until it happened to some others too

I own the pockekt 6k pro and it is a beautiful camera, i have had it since it came out and they released an update that lets the camera record gyro data to the clips in BRAW if your not using an imaged stablised lens, so you can use that data to stablise it in post and im pretty sure they said the 4k does it aswell when you turn on horrizons, so if it can that should help out with some shots

i’ve shot on many cameras and there’s something so special about the footage the bmpcc4k creates. it’s just not as convenient as a Sony, canon, etc. the camera is worth it though, trust me.

Thanks! Yes I brought the cam during a trip to Berlin couple months back. Love the cam but I can see why other cams like the fx3 with the autofocus, good battery and flip screen might be quite appealing.
I use a Canon 90D and a Canon R7. They both work great for filming. Even though they are not dedicated cinema camera.

What lens are you using?? I bought the wrong one when i got my 4k and need a good all-rounder but it's so confusing
I really love the bmpcc4k, but I am planning on buying a sony fx30. I mean I think there isn't much difference in fx30 and bmpcc4k in terms of image quality. And I have autofocus, which is particular nice for travel, vlogs and really simple run and gun. Other than that, it's a great cinema camera. Yes Braw is nice to have, but not necessary when you are really good at color grading.For me the flip screen, autofocus and image stabilization matters more. When I have a solid autofocus camera, then I would buy a pocket cinema camera and learn how to pull manual focus, because this is a skill that I haven't mastered yet.
Sounds like a great choice man! Can't really go wrong with either of these camera's. Get a stunning lens and the images will be nearly identical

i thought the sensor was the same between the fx3 and the fx30, surely the fx3 is full frame so you get more depth of field, but the quality should be the same, right ?

Thing with the fx30. the image quality is not not as beutfull as the fx3 its jus difrent. its achally more sharper then the fx3 becuse it oversamples as its a 6k sensor that record 4k. tho not a full frame sensor it struggles more in lowlight.
The BMPC4k tho was an amazing choice of camera tho.
Personaly i picked the fxx30 tho. i got it with a $1,000 lense, cage, and tophandle all for the price of the body brandnew on its own. Love 2nd hand stuff.

There is gyro data for stabilization in post. It's extra step but it's there.
Yes helps a bit definitely not the same as internal stabilization

Easyrig minimax i believe. Quite expensive and I don't need it often so I rent it when I need to shoot long interviews at an event.

It records gyrodata which leads to better image stabilization than any other in-camera stabilization out there!

"Movie" cameras don't have auto-focus and image stabilization, lol. This is some "videographer" stuff, you should be considering shutter, sensor, color science, recording options, proxy recording etc. Considering top-tier consumer stuff, BMPCC6K is a great option for it's price, though FX3 is *chef's kiss*

As soon as you started to ad 10 accessories on the camera, I stopped watching, 😅.
The myth of the remarkable cameras that need a 5x bigger rig is doing the independent filmmakers a real disservice.
More rig= less time for creating the actual story.
I have a BPCC OG and will definitely get rid of. The image quality vs Rugged Camera= I go always for rugged. If the image is amazing but all other components are less glorious, it’s amazing for B-Roll clips.
I shoot short movies and have a C100 and 2 1DCs- will all their drawbacks they will never let me down.
This footage and grading looks quite bad. The rgb digital noise, overblown highlights, unnatural saturation. This video randomly popped after a different one and I am disappointed to have watched it.

Can anyone eplain why filmmakers very often use the Sigma 18-35? I use it as a photography lens but very often find myself lacking in focal length. Did some video work with it aswell but I'm still considering swapping it for a classic 24-70
