Just got done watching. Small suggestion, I watch allot of reviews and not allot of people talk about warranties or customer support. Big plus in my book, I started with dirt cheap unit farm. First grow one blew at the start of flower, next one like 5 weeks in. Customer service was horrible and I was broke. Thank god and mother nature a friend let me borrow a really nice light to finish or I would have been screwed.
my old kind led is burning out so I'm in the market for a modern led bar light, it took me about a week to understand the jargan, but THANK YOU for explaining this stuff and making all these videos. Dunno how you don't have at least a million subs.
My man Tony Montana, I knew you would have the light I want but can't afford....lol.... Thanks for the vid on this one. Its my fav color, green is the color of weed and money.
I've been looking at this light to do a side by said against mammoth lighting 800w. Very similar specs from what they provide but at roughly a $300 difference price point. Have 2 mammoths currently, about to add the Mars hydro to see if price matters or if a unit a little less attractive is just as good with a cheaper tag. 😉
With almost all the major manufacturers using the same chips and drivers, it pretty much comes down to build quality and warranty support now. The lights are pretty much all the same.
@@eriksmeltekop yes for the most part i agree. The quality of the build will differ. you want a well balanced and sturdy frame. As well as the light spread will be a big difference. Those are the factors i use to narrow down the list since any major brand will be very comparable to the next.
well that sucks, just bought this light 2 weeks ago at the 859 with no discount. its a sweet light but it would have been much sweeter cheaper. I can tell you this its very bright. in a 5ft by 5ft area the penetration and coverage is awesome, even in the corners no drop off. I watched about 6 months of par test with the other lights and they dont compare in the corners. so i finally caved and bought this one, its the best thing i ever did. im very happy with it. The only way to make it any better honestly is by eliminating all the cool white lights and replace them with the warm white. then it would be geared just flowering like a HPS which is what every one wants. this light has 2 warm white rows of lights to one cool white row. when someone creates that light with all warm white lights I believe it will replace HPS lights. honestly if it was as big as the fc-8000 i would drop a grand for it. then word of mouth would make that light number one. by far this fc-8000 is the best led light on the market at the present. hopefully someone will make the all warm white with the red just as big as the fc-8000.
i started with a pair of FC 6500 after Shane helped make up my mind and they are amazing , i saved up and decided on a pair of FC 8000's and had been watching price discounts on ebay direct from mars hydro but the day i wanted to buy they had sold out , i decided to buy the FCE 8000's and wow what a light , i tarted mine up with a 20mm pvc hanging rail for the wires , they were $820 delivered which was cheaper than the FC 6500's by $50 ea, i wished i had made the move sooner , a game changer...
Thanks for all the stuff you do Shane 👍 your vids have helped me no ends.. would it be possible to do a comparison with the FC and the FC E series from Mars Hydro ones Samsung diodes the other is bridgelux diodes
honestly the diode manufacturer is over hyped. As long as it is a quality built diode then it really doesn't matter. Being able to put the Samsung diode stamp on your light is more for sales and marketing. For some reason most think all others are subpar and that's simply not the case. Same goes for the drivers. As long as you are getting the PAR you want and the watt per ppfd is above 2 then you are running a decently efficient system, and the higher above that the better of course. Which I'm sure you have seen is why Migro always mentions these numbers.
I'm curious. Why is Mars Hydro was measure at 12 inches? When the review you did for Spider Farmer you measure it at 8 inches? Why don't you do your measuring at the same height for similar light? So it be more fair and accurate..
I’m about to finish my first grow with this light (also my first grow ever). During veg it was at 50% and at 40 cm from the canopy, but they stopped growing for 3 days:( , so I tried by going back to 30% or 35% and put the light higher up. They started to continue growing really quick after that. I will try by using a PPFD meter for my next grow. (I also think it’s important to mention that I decided to use autoflowers, just realized they should have been photos).
I am new to your channel just catching up on your older videos great, I can't see no where have you ever done a review on the, Mars Hydro FC-E6500 grow light , oh great video on improving air flow👍
That's the best LED Mars hydro have made 4x4 😮 would pump it in flower. But I put in 5x5 . Looks like I better start saving 😢. It's not we're you start it's where you finish that counts 😂
ppfd at canopy..be nice to see what the par levels are at 18 inch and 24 inch..do leds penetrate like 1000w hps de? 🤷♂also if you were to use this at 75% would the bulbs last longer than using ..lets say a 600w unit at 100% and whats the penetration like at 75%..
LED will outlast HPS. The data says so and in my own experience this holds true. I made the switch and I'm so glad I did. I pull better harvests now. If you are in a colder area I do see how the HPS might be better since it provides needed heat. Also if you run under 100% ypu will extend the life further for sure. I run 800w mammoths and the penetration is the same at any percentage but will deliver less or more ppfd accordingly of course. When I see penetration drop is at higher hanging heights and that's because the photons spread more. So you get a wider coverage but at the cost of penetration also because of physics (Inverse Square Law(.

Hi Shane, Excellent review as always. My question: I measured output of the Sun on a summer day PPFD was 1500 and Co2 around 400ppm. Does this mean plants are under stress during this high light environment with limited access to Co2?
I've been running this scenario through me noggin for about a year now! I'm curious with a light and controller can you program hourly intervals what would the plant's do in response ? I need to do it and see because might be a hidden response we're not catching??? Anyone else thought about this ?
@@TexasGrown1978 If what you mean is 1 hour lights on 1 hour lights off then it is only possible with autoflowers. It works but I imagine at best it does nothing, at worst it might stress the plants.
Let's put it this way, if you lay in the sun at 1500 PPFD ure not gonna ge burned unless you roast for hours. Same for plants but they can prolly withstand the blast a little longer depending on moisture air temperature etc.
I love spider farmer they've always made great lights and many other companies are catching right up there now like with migray LED 's viperspectra and so on . I have a question, like how much electricity will this generate monerywise like in a bill for example in california ? any idea pls, THANK YOU trying to get one!
on the mars hydro fc lights there is a connector between the ballast and the light. everyone who owns this light or any one of these lights needs to keep an eye on this connector. first off its not fire rated plastic because mine got so hot it melted. you should make a video on replacing this plug with a safer plug that dont get so hot. this plug should not be hot to the touch if it is it could burn your house down. it will get hotter and hotter throughout the day. another thing you can do is use this to show people when it comes to your house and your families life maybe you dont want to trust stuff from countries without regulations. facts are this would all have to be fire rated and tested to be made in america. this is why it cost more. facts are stuff made in america is 1000 times safer for your families life. millions die every year from faulty and recalled products made in countries without regulations. seems fear is what motivates people now in america so use it to your advantage.

Hey @Migro just want to check what made you think that the bars can be ran individually? I spoke to mars about doing this with my FC8000 and they said it wasn't safe to do and all bars need to be connected.
can you compare one of these vs 4 of the 450 watt quantum boards dimmed down to 800 watts . par and heat ? is it better to have lots of smaller lights or one big light ?
@@MIGROLIGHT Thank you for responding! I purchased this light and I'm preparing to do my first CO2 run. For running autoflowers with CO2 what would you say the co2 ppm and light intensity should be, considering for photos it is 1500ppm and 1500 max light intensity? Thanks again!
Running the Mars FC-FCE's at 12 inches is stupid, I'm at 20" 75% for veg and 16-18" 100% for flower in my 4X4 (FCE-4800). Plenty of ppfd for Big Nugz..
@@stangcobra592 I can run a mammoth 800Watt at 12" in flower, very similar to this model. Co2 REQUIRED for this of course. I have plans to run this unit as a side by side so hopefully I can show it can run at 12" later in flower.
@@stangcobra592 agreed. I ran 2 grows with the FC4800 4x4. Hit well over 800 grams of top shelf nugs and about 200 grams of lower quality I used for butter and such. But i vegged the entire 4x4 and never had to crack 50% in veg. Flipped to flower turned dial to 70% for 1st 3 weeks of flower. Weeks 4-9 dial was 100. Week 10 dial was 90%. It’s plenty to for a 4x4. Have 1 grow each with the FC6500 and Spiderfarmer SE7000. Never turned the dial to 100% then entire grow. Pretty sure 80% was the max on both to hit 800 PAR in the corners at like 22 inches.
I have some 630 watt DE CMH lamps right beside some 600 watt LED fixtures from HLG.No comparison... The LED blows the CMH fixtures out of the water without a question. LED is the clear winner, you should really switch over
I have mars sp 250s with a cmh 315 in one tent then have another tent with a mars sp 3000 and I definitely get bigger size and probably better quality under the cmh, if I had to buy over again I probably would do it all with cmh but my cmh cost like 600$ aud
@@GeofryMasters 630 watts is too much cmh has the best penatration one will veg a 5x5 two will flower it better spreading out your watts then beaming all your power within the same sized foot print if that makes sense
@@robertmiller6822 yea that's too much for a cmh bought a skid of them for them to be 50 each ;) Cmh trichome production is number unless you can find the hps cmh Shane talks about in his older video
So each light strip equivalent 100 Watts to make it at 800 w unit, the dimming box looks like the exact same one they put on the spider farmer SF 2,000 4,000 models, which has a fault design and will come on periodically🤓 how do I know because my sf-2000 does..lol that's why I never used that junk box they put on top of the light always use a timer never manually shut it off cuz it will come back on.. then I got a garage sale and sold my China so-called Samsung diodes 😃
It is indeed. Keep in mind all these brands are marketed towards people who grow pot indoors. I grow herbs, lettuce, and spinach and my MARS Hydro SP250 is "rated" 3x5 foot at 18". In reality I spent all off 2020 growing produce in a 6x10 foot space at 4 foot high. The main takeaway from this product is the efficiency is highest at 50% of maximum power. At 50% you receive maximum efficiency, the least amount of heat, and the longest lifespan. So, at 50% power this would grow normal crops in a 5x5 foot enclosure, or likely an 8x8 foot room at full power. Depending on how long you intend to grow indoors you might be much better off getting two of these to run at 50% instead of one at 100%, since it would save 200w per hour and a TON of heat.
You can but it would be useless and too much wasted power and momey without c02. Cannabis without c02 you want 700 to 900 ppfd uniform coverage which their fc 4800 or fc 6000 accomplish. Cannabis with c02 you want 900 all the way up to 1300 ppfd to gain the best yeild and growth bonuses. Thats why this is called a c02 light.
@@MurdahBassRecords hardly a waste of power when you have a almost uniform 900 par across the entire board with including the edges, a waste of power would be drawing 800w from the wall and only using 300w.
And if it doesn't work properly you are completely screwed. Mars hydro customer service is non existent. These light FREQUENTLY continue to produce light even when switched off.
People need to be careful with these CO2 grows. The plants grow insanely fast, I had issues with stem strength despite using lights with a lot of blue. The flowering periods become much shorter too. I just finished a grow with Thai Stick. The original. I am not joking at 35c and 2000ppm, I was seeing 15cm's of growth per day. 4 times I had to cut a metre off the top of the plants. Never seen 2.8m high grow tents completely filled with plant to the ceiling packed every damn week.... It's like the lights were an obstacle that they just grew around and enveloped... It's insane! Just one of these plants could fill a green house if trained to grow along the ground.
Yes!! Growth is crazy. I never would have expected how much it changes. I've never had stem strength issues. Fans help as we all know but so does silicate. And if you want a good one get monosilicic acid. Instantly bio available. U less you're in soil that's the way to go and it will help you out. Thick sturdy stems and helps uptake immobile nutrients such as calcium and helps prevent damage from drought, heats Pests and pathogens due to the increased cell wall thickness. It's more pricey but you will not regret it I promise you.
These people send used goods, faded stickers, bent cases with traces of corrosion. Never buy anything from them. You have to return the goods at your own expense, they do not pay for postage, the cost of returning a postal parcel is $ 37. I was no longer the only one who ordered goods and received garbage from them, which can only be placed in a landfill. Look at the reviews in the official MarsHydro Official Store aliexpress They do not make contact, they refuse to pay for the delivery of their used goods. can you compare one of these vs 4 of the 450 watt quantum boards dimmed down to 800 watts . par and heat ? is it better to have lots of smaller lights or one big light ?
Would i run into issues running it not using co2?
no, justo use 80% un flower and 50 or 60
in veg
Hi mate have you done any reviews on green fingers 2000 watt ??
Excellent video! Would you say this will be powerful enough in a 5x5 to grow autoflower on 18/6 with CO2? Thank you!
Yes, absolutely
@@MIGROLIGHT Thank you for responding! I purchased this light and I'm preparing to do my first CO2 run. For running autoflowers with CO2 what would you say the co2 ppm and light intensity should be, considering for photos it is 1500ppm and 1500 max light intensity? Thanks again!
50% for veg and 75% max for flower in a 4x4 .
Think Shane misspoke .
50% for seedlings would fry em .
Running the Mars FC-FCE's at 12 inches is stupid, I'm at 20" 75% for veg and 16-18" 100% for flower in my 4X4 (FCE-4800). Plenty of ppfd for Big Nugz..
25% for seedlings with light 2-3ft above for sure
Are you giving away a light with full grow tent setup?
Where is you’re light that would fit a 4x4
Well at the 50 canadian I pay per CMH 315 fixture +130 cad for the philips 3100k that light is out of the question for 900 dollars it sucks.
or 100 flat for the canadian bulb light speed.
@@robertmiller6822 yea that's too much for a cmh bought a skid of them for them to be 50 each ;)
Cmh trichome production is number unless you can find the hps cmh Shane talks about in his older video
Great video thank you! Just picked up a fce8000🤘 any chance you know the troll master connection for it ?
Thanks!🙌
No, sorry but email them and they will tell you.
Is 660nm also samsung lh351v2?
They're usually osram.
Wouldn't you say that this was overkill ? Ie.way more than needed in a 4x4
I got an FCE-4800 for $356 on Ebay when the Mars store had a 48hr. sale a couple months ago. The 4800 is perfect for a 4X4.
@@MasterQuack14 at 50% you would save 400w an hour my friend.
I had a mars 400 watt years ago, it wenr on fire...
Impressive par levels....
Fc-e?
Check Dr. Mj Coco. He reviews both against eachother. Amazing stuff.
Can I use it whitout Co2?
at 75% or at higher hanging height
@@KM-rx7hz thankyou
You can but it would be useless and too much wasted power and momey without c02.
Cannabis without c02 you want 700 to 900 ppfd uniform coverage which their fc 4800 or fc 6000 accomplish.
Cannabis with c02 you want 900 all the way up to 1300 ppfd to gain the best yeild and growth bonuses. Thats why this is called a c02 light.
@@MurdahBassRecords hardly a waste of power when you have a almost uniform 900 par across the entire board with including the edges, a waste of power would be drawing 800w from the wall and only using 300w.
Yes, in a 5 x 5 it would deliver about 830 PAR which is a great level for high performance without CO2
Growers choice roi would still blow this out of the water
Not a chance.
@@Calebski let me know how long it lasts before it burn down the house

Dont buy led from marshydro
I got fc-e8000 smart and after 5 days 1 led Bar is Not working and Support dont answere
That's not good service, sorry to hear
high bay light ..
And if it doesn't work properly you are completely screwed. Mars hydro customer service is non existent. These light FREQUENTLY continue to produce light even when switched off.
There is no off switch on mine just full blast or turn on the Dimmer it shuts it off
Just got a scammer claiming he's Shane. Doing a giveaway. Lol
Marshydro will not accept my light back that failed after just a few months, steer clear of this company, Spiderfarmer are better anyway.
Look at the reviews in the official MarsHydro Official Store aliexpress
They do not make contact, they refuse to pay for the delivery of their used goods.
I will return the bad product, you will be the next buyer of the product!
