as a 60 year old who has seen punk cncerts at the 100 club in London and lived the new wave and the post wave extensively, I have to say is one of the best songs I have ever heard, and I discovered this band only a few months ago. I get a huge kick out of this, and each time I dance like a maniac or \i want to go for a car ride with this song on. Love the retro videos and their look
I had watched them when Deb was solo, then with Mona for years. Bought them a beer in San Diego before a show that got delayed, talked for a bit, and could not have been nicer guys. Wish them nothing but continued success. Deb is a badass drummer for those that didn't know.

Even has that trademark "70s / 80s song fade-out" at the end that makes you long for the song as it slowly departs. Drab Majesty nailed pretty much every detail so well, you could sneak it into an 80s & early 90s Indie Dream-Pop / Synthpop music set, and everyone would just assume it was an 80s Indie song they missed hearing back in the day.
I can't stop playing this song. I was young in the 80s and part of the Gothic scene until the 2000s. This feels like a giant mother cat is grabbing me by the neck, carrying me through those decades.

"With an undo" pretty much being left on "read" is the part where people get sad. I realize if someone has the balls to leave you on seen purposely...well then you don't need people who seek attention like that anyway. The worst is when your message is left unopened even though you know that the person has probably seen it. Kinda makes you feel unworthy of their time...but that's just me
Saw Drab with Deafheaven in Detroit. Got a sick poster with them and the other bands exclusive to that tour. Drab was way more fun live than I thought they'd be. The music was great of course, but the background imagery, intermissions between songs, the lighting made me feel like I was in Bladerunner. If you have a chance to see them you should.
well... in the widest sense, since this is more like 'postpunk/shoegaze', but the coolest thing here is that it very much transcends mere 'retro spirit'. it's simply awesome music. :-)

@@MasDouc Theatrical goth is a thing, just look at Lacrimosa. I see some similarities in image, just Lacrimosa is more medieval, and Drab - more greek/antique. Lyrically and by sound it's true goth, anyway. But I don't agree with Kevin.. deathrock is Alien Sex Fiend etc. and they don't sound similar to Drab at all. It's post-punk, with maybe some darkwave elements.
For some reason every time I listen to this song, it reminds me of being in high school a long time ago between 86 through 89 , it reminds me of walking the halls, listened to a lot of music back then that nobody listened to and if this incredible band was around then , I would have definitely been blaring it on my Walkman!

Saw DM in Sao Paulo in a tiny gothic club, stood 2 feet away from Deb for the whole show, might go deaf before 75 but it was worth it to experience that insanity, got to meet Deb, talk in English and take pictures.

The best part about Drab Majesty is that they don’t try to complicate their lyrics for that hidden meaning. It’s just enough where you know this is definitely about social media in an easy-to-analyze poetry piece. That’s what I’ve always worried about personally as a poet, so seeing an amazing band with wonderful sounds do something like that makes me so much more confident in my own creative endeavors. Mona, Deb, you have done wonders for your audience, and I hope you know that! 🖤
