Discovering Drab Majesty is such an epiphany. I wish I could forget about them and experience that feeling once again...
I found them yesterday. I'm in shock
Exactly, right? I remember watching this exact YT video some 4 years while at work and it left me completely amazed. Absolute beauty.
I listened to it since 2 days ago by a suggestion from a friend they made me feel something I can’t even describe it
I’m late to the party but enjoying

Not from this earth
@@scroll652 and all the better for it!
This song has saved my life more times I could ever remember. Thanks god for music.
🖤
Idk why but this song makes me so very sad, the melody and the music, the lyrics. I cannot help but cry whenever I hear it. I know it’s about heavens gate members but i also interpret it as people in this world that are lost, alone, scared to love, scared to be loved, feeling unworthy and just wanting anyone to connect with. To just feel alive instead of feeling alone and adrift in a world that doesn’t care. This song is very dear to me.
well said
Absolutely. That's what cults prey on, people who feel like that, so it works all around
Great reply. So true. @@drew3493
Totally agreed. It's what we all want more or less. To connect, stop feeling alone and helpless
Is this about heavens gate the fd up suicide cult???
I've been obsessed with this band ever since I discovered them.
Same, like 2 years ago for me. Best thing I've discovered in a decade
Same.
@@TheNightEternal 💯💯
i love to see artists so immersed in their art and to see them enjoy it just as much as the audience is
That dreamy, transcendent sound, somewhere between melancholy and triumphant - is why I love Drab Majesty. Their music is retro but not cheesy. Familiar in the way of nostalgia but still unique.
This is some of the best 80s-revival music I've ever heard.
They're the real deal. No copycats.
i’d also loop kælan mikla and boy harsher into that archetype of 80’s renaissance
I agree.
“ Not cheesy “ ? Dude I love this group and their music but their choice of costumes is the definition of cheesy
"Somewhere between melancholy and triumphant". Drab Majesty is my band of 2019, and your brilliantly worded statement is why. That's exactly the kind of year I've had. Drab Majesty is so fucking intelligent. I fucking love them. Thanks for posting. Well done, sir.
I've been watching this for 5 years.
virtually everyday ....
Drown my earholes in reverb, slap my buttocks, and call me Sally. These damn aliens sure can make music!
I listen to this version of the song daily.
I'm stuck in a loop of listening to it every morning ....
I consider this song one of the most beautiful ones in the last decade. I feel transported to another place, another time. Love and more love to these peculiar and talented guys.
My favorite band since we left Earth in 1997.
So grateful to have found them out through your channel.
Oi meu amor e o valor de mercado para que possamos fazer um comentário sobre este assunto do que eu possa fazer a diferença é que eu te amo xb

If people knew how many times ive watched this video in the last 3 days id be institutionalized.
Same, omg, same.. since 2015.
There must a scientific explanation for why this is so addictive
@@HEATSEEKER00 They rank among my favorite bands of the past forty years, in my opinion, since the ERA (1975-85). Their harmonies, melodies, and atmospheres are all such emotive melodies, rollercoasters. And how melancholy are those drums?!
✋🏼😂❤
@@HEATSEEKER00 Anxiety relief
Drab Majesty is the heroine of the music world. Each hit just keeps taking you deeper and deeper into the void. Time standing still. Existing without existing. Beauty beyond conscious recognition.
The music that healed my broken and damaged Goth soul.
we all have an inner goth, whether or not it shows on the outside
Sorry, but this has nothing to do with "Goth". Goth man still found refuge in a "God". The theme of the song deals with an adverse posture in relation to the divinity: the disappointment with all the divine precepts.
"We couldn't love but you paired us together
to walk hand in hand
the irony
We couldn't make this world ours..."
@@Xapiro To me, it has the same undertones of living a lonely life of pain with the human condition, their acknowledgement of God, and their acknowledgement of their own worth as a human being/ soul; similar to songs like, "Hello, My Name Is Human" by Highly Suspect (theirs and Drab Majesty come across as wanting respect), and, "Once In A Lifetime" by Wolfsheim (he wants respect in the form of dignity, as he is about to take his own life). "You" = God in "Not Just A Name" and "Once In A Lifetime". Other than that, I'd say contemplating human existence and your relationship with life, death, the afterlife, and the divine are essentially Goth themed in my eyes; as a person who has interests in the Gothic Subculture.
Side note if you want to check them out: Two songs that seem to be along the theme of spiritual traps & their perception of reality are, "Tricks" by OhGr, and, "Gimmicks" by File Not Found.
@@Zelphraeya Perhaps, first, we would have to define what we mean by "gothic", in order to reach a consensus.
Before the Gothic subculture in Modernity, Meroveu, leader of the Franks, already used the word to differentiate himself from the Romans. "Gothic" comes from "Goth", a generic name for the barbarian tribes north of the Roman Empire.
@@Xapiro True. I think of it more as when the music started to take off; not so much historically.
This performance is definitely next level beyond human.
I dont even have words for how amazing this is.
I have 2 12" subwoofers in my living room and it completely changes the listening experience
JL W6's ?
These guys would’ve owned the actual 80s. I feel like I’m living back in time again when I hear them play
Same here
For sure!!
That key change at 4:58 makes me weep every. Single. Time. Sheer beauty. 😭
Man, the same with me
hell yea
SO MUCH THIS.
Me too. It's like diving in to the afterlife. It's good on the recorded version, too
Jeez years later still eargasming to it
This is even better than the album recording.
Agree
Totally. And the album recording is already great. This needs to be released as a live single.
@@phantomleap Yes please!
Anyone know where you can get this live recording in FLAC?
Agreed
Drab Majesty is definitely one of the best groups out there right now. Deb Demure is an artistic genius and Mona D complements him in a perfect way. I’ve seen these guys 2x they never fail me to amaze me. I wish more people could appreciate beautiful music like this.
I try to introduce different artists to my circle of "friends" but they all think I have a weird taste in music. Can't really relate to anyone I know. Often feel like I'm not supposed to be on this planet
Mike Ross
My best friend says I have collection of "music for the insane". It's ok.
I Am here... with you all, and we love this together alone perhaps forever...love to my lovelies. Love you all. We'll connect with our silver cords
Welcome to my world
Amen!!🙌
I'm rocking the same shades Deb is wearing in this masterpiece! Thank you Drab Majesty for your gift.
Keep coming to this over and over. After 31 years of life, two years ago I discovered Drab Majesty accidentally and I will say they are one of my favorite bands by a longshot.
Dude....@ 4:56 is the most amazing piece of music i've ever heard....and I love that smirk on his face after like "Yea....that's right" Haha
That part gives me goosebumps
Left handed guitarist. Proud to be left handed. This music is pure drugs 😎😎😎
that transition @4:56 is just perfect
Agreed
Finding out you can be depressed and optimistic at the same time. 💥
Just saw this live last night and it changed my brain chemistry
no shit me too. I was there
R.I.P Matrix Reloaded Twins
Ryan Harder the twins from the matrix were ready dead. Definitely ghosts. Programs from an older version. :) All the merovingians baddies were horror creatures. Vampires werewolves and ghosts. :D
Evan Amorosi Oh I played Enter the Matrix. I know bout them baddies for sure! Stabbed them with a steak in the game playing as Niobe!
lol
XD
They look better w/o the dreads in my opinion
They remind me more of Elric, last emperor of Melnibone.
Pure genius from Drab Majesty! Keep up the great work Audiotree. We always love seeing new videos from you all on our homepage.
Fender thank you for your amazing guitars and basses
We also would love to see the Cold Souls Version of the Song you teased us with in the beginning of this video @AudioTree 😉

@@michaelking28574 years later we still don't have Cold Souls
I adore the album version of this song, but this version is different gravy. Transcendent. ❤
The part that begins @ 4.57 is one of the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard in my entire life, and then the keyboard slowly creeps in. It's like magic just fell onto the Earth in the form of Drab Majesty!
69crafty YESSIR.
@Fabian Failla What has pointing out the part @4.57 got to do with being a 'snowflake' except for Deftones being better, in your opinion? Ps i also like Deftones, but you really do sound like you're about 12 years old 😂
Watching them perform this live New Years Eve at Neumo's in Seattle was life changing. The crowd was frozen. This is so good.
Omfg.......another reason to live.
which is funny considering what this album is about lmao
Literally my first thought on hearing Drab Majesty for the first time. Look up the Modern Mirror Institute. There's a toll free number that they distributed during the Modern Mirror tour and the number is still active. I call it often.
you don't have to die tonight . . .
We all hoped to be finding a light
We were alone on the Earth
Searching for someone alike
Your words made sense
In the truth you possessed
Believing the call of our kind
Would be fine if we were
Divinely blessed
Took ahold of our souls just to
Make us the same
Called me something I wasn't
It's not just a name
Take your time taking minds
Just to stay in the game
Made me someone I wasn't
It's not just a name
We couldn't love but you paired us together
To walk hand in hand
The irony
We couldn't make this world ours
Because it wasn't part of the plan
Why do we do like you?
Why do we do like you?
You called me something I wasn't
It's not just a name
You made me someone I wasn't
It's not just a name
Has to be about Heavens Gate
Cause he also says, "you said we wouldn't be recycled"
It could be, even though they already immortalized them in "39 By Design". (If you didn't know that already, that is :>)
"you said we WOULD be recycled"
@sl0re10 the whole album is about it
This is literally the most repeatable track I've ever listened to.
Thats fucking true
Waiting Game from their album Completely Careless ;)
"Cold Souls" is like that too.
@@MrBlessed70 awesome song too!
The finger picking is just great. So hypnotic
This is the closest thing to perfection I've ever heard
oh c'mon there's no such thing as perfection and never will be
I think this is the best execution of a song sonically I’ve ever heard.
*a MASTERPIECE!*
Its like the new wave of the early 1980's
1986 late-night vibe
I could listen to this song a thousand times on repeat
This is so beautifully dark and deep. You could fall into it and be lost for eternity, and not mind at all.
Wow Debs guitair playing is breathtaking... And Monas synthnsounds positively otherworldy.
One of my fav songs forever. It’s so beautiful, it brings me to tears. This song top tier ❤️ I always blast it in my car or without headphones is a tragedy to not hear all the nuances of the song.
Thine precious Lord Drab Majesty: What is thy bidding? Forever at thine service, for a wondrous moment we share, in this, a vespertine enchantment with thee, Lord Drab Majesty 🎻🎼🎠🏰🎇

Best find of 2018!
sus influencias claramente. se ve reflejado... en lo dark wave gótico... de las grandes bandas de los 80 y bandas under no conocidas por el público.. pero que gran influencia tomaron estos chicos... me gusta y me conmueve que esto jamas muera...
How can the track have so many views but so few like?! So weird. This an amazing track.
Andrew's guitar and vocals here are so deep in the pocket. A perfect performance.
i literally said wow out loud because their sound permeated through my soul so much. i could honestly cry. such a physical reaction
One of my favorite bands and I just find the DIY theatrics so endearing. Some people I've showed them too scoff at their aesthetic and can't get past it, but it adds so much during their performances. It turns them into these strange, otherworldly characters that playing live in jeans and a t-shirt will never accomplish.
I find their aesthetics a bit too DIY, these costumes are not very good... It wants to be stylish but... fails imo. The music's great and the whole thing could be so much better if those costumes were taken more seriously.
mescaliiiiine I think the DIY aspect adds to it, it would feel too fake otherwise.
I think their outfits hit the right note between "whoa, those are distracting" and "meh, they look like me". Just enough to set them apart without being obnoxious.
Everything they do exists in a place between chaos and order such that evolution can occur, a concept in math known as criticality. That's why I love them, they hit that golden ratio perfectly, and a glimpse of heaven slips through their work.
Well they change their costumes by periods. So let's see what's next
one of the most beautiful song.. ever!
I wish Audiotree would release their recording of "Cold Souls".
Jamie Dawson fr, the opening portion sounds way better than the studio recording
Hunter Villines yeah sure ;)
Gratings from Poland. We love you guys!
Holy Lord, as if this song weren't phenominal enough for the first 5 minutes, then the last part starts....crushingly beautiful.
This brings me to tears.. I'm absolutely floored
You've just been blessed by the spirit of another time!
@@tommybluebones8265 like the spirit of my youth past.. I'm an old man my friend!!🙂
@@smc9108 Me too, I can't believe the sheer emotion that this artist brings out. (Was a teen in the mid-late 80's, this is such a time machine...)
@@smc9108 Yes, most of us will relate to these memories of our crystallized youth bro, but it doesn't mean that you are that old! You can't be😊
@@tommybluebones8265 Some of us listening here ARE that old, at least in Earth years. I'll soon be following this music to a distant realm.
So raw....the fingerprints on the guitar...the cameraman in the mirror....the classical setting....and the BRILLIANT music
you guys are awesome. you sound better live which is a test of true talent. keep doing what you love and the money will come and if it doesnt you will have lived a rich life anyway. all the best

Drab Majesty speaks to my very spirit. Not my physical form.
I wish they'd redo this entire album Live. Their sound has become so much more expansive over time. Revisit this often.
This song is fucking BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Drab Majesty evokes a tidal wave of emotion that is simultaneously overwhelming and welcomed, anytime, until the day I die.
Can't stop listening to it
Drab takes me to another place, a distant World
That's not a camera filming, its a time orb. It is transmitting the musical sounds of the 80's, which we have all dreamt to hear again, to visual form of these celestial beings. Giving us our "return to the past" without us actually returning back.
quite simply the greatest find of my music life this year is discovering these guys quite simply breathtaking
hammer 66 troller is much more ms piggy as the one in the end of passion of the christ.
I think this might be one of the most perfect things I've ever seen....
This is everything the 80's wanted to be.
Ginn The 80s was this. No wanting involve. It just simply was.
Seniority has spoken.
They do a very good Psychedelic Furs.
Youre not wrong

What is it about the key change at 4:55 that is such an eargasm
Such a mystical atmosphere to it
It's an epic bridge in the song. I agree!
I love this song so much
You made me someone I wasn’t
( It’s not just a name.)
You called me something I wasn’t
( It’s not just a name.)
Beautifully primordial tragic tribute to those lost souls...with a perfect unique setting for this captivating performance...
In spite of all odds time traveling seems to be possible now. This music could be fallen straight out of a cracked time capsule. This music has much vibe of Chameleon‘s Script of the Bridge album.
Just discovered this band. And wow.
This made me cry because it’s that good. Anyone who could thumbs down this is a soulless monster from hell.
Best band, I have seen in a long day. I have only be listening to them, Twin Tribes, Cold Cave, and She Past Away. Certainly getting me over the hump at the end of 2010s and beginning of 2020s.
i can’t get the volume loud enough. 🖤🤍
I'm probably responsible for half of these god damned views. So good.
And I'm responsible for the other half.
Hahha I also have a big chunk of it
Amazing sound quality, amazing production and amazing performance
A timeless beauty of a song I enjoy every day!!talent absolute!!
To all the naysayers about their aesthetics, you're allowed to look however you want when you actually have talent and are good.
I was listening to The Drowning Man by the Cure and found this!!!wow excellent
