Yet again creating something beautiful (along with "39 By Design") out of the horror of the 38 (plus 1) who lost their lives to Heaven's Gate. Remember how the cult leader got his followers to change their names once within the cult. Called them something they weren't; it's never just names. Hard to imagine a more beautiful love letter to those people, who probably were just trying to find a way to deal with the strangeness of it all... -and put their trust in the messianic hubris of a man who was already lost.
One of the most beautiful songs this masterpiece of an album has to offer. Currently learning the lead guitar for it. It is as beautiful as they are. I love Deb to space and back!
We all hoped to be finding the light We were alone on the Earth, searching for someone alike Your words made sense with the truth you possessed Believing the call of our kind would be fine if we were divinely blessed You said we would be recycled Took a hold of our souls just make us the same Called me something I wasn't it's not just a name Take your time taking minds just to stay in the game Made me someone I wasn't it's not just a name We couldn't love but you paired us together to walk hand in hand The irony We couldn't make this world ours because it wasn't a part of the plan You said we would be recycled You said i would be recycled Took a hold of our souls just make us the same Called me something I wasn't it's not just a name Take your time taking minds just to stay in the game Made me someone I wasn't it's not just a name Why do we do, like you? Why do we do? Made me someone I wasn't it's not just a name You called me something I wasn't it's not just a name You made me someone I wasn't it's not just a name You called me something I wasn't it's not just a name
Great lyrics... I've read elsewhere this line: Believing the call of our kind would be fine if we were divinely blessed" is actually "Believing the -Cull- of our kind . . ." meaning killing/culling was the lyric... Either way it's poignant but I find it more bittersweet or cult-programmed if this is what is expressed. Thanks for sharing.
Truly amazing song ! It's so great to listen with this song to start the week... I so love the intro... My Boss loves thing song... In fact, I have gotten to learn this through Him. ♥️
Prince wanted to sign Cocteau Twins to his label way back in the day. This is probably indicative of what would’ve happened if they had actually collaborated
It was OUR pathetic earthly existence that made them search for something better. I hope they are in a better place after all. They deserve to be in utopia for realizing the ravishes of our existence. Wish you the best...............
don't know why but 4:17 is hitting the right spot...
a waterfall of tears inside my heart when i listened to this...luv from east Afrika
Blows my mind always ... best band I discovered in years 😎
thanks for discovering him, we would be lost without you.
Agree with your words 👍
This is my favourite track on the album. I don't even count how many times I was repeating it on spotify. Nostalgic, old 80's forever.
Hard to pick between this and Cold Souls

This absolutely redefines "ethereal"

Your words made sense with the truth you possessed
Believing the call of our kind would be fine if we were divinely blessed
You said we would be recycled
Took a hold of our souls just make us the same
Called me something I wasn't it's not just a name
Take your time taking minds just to stay in the game
Made me someone I wasn't it's not just a name
We couldn't love but you paired us together to walk hand in hand
The irony
We couldn't make this world ours because it wasn't a part of the plan
You said we would be recycled
You said i would be recycled
Took a hold of our souls just make us the same
Called me something I wasn't it's not just a name
Take your time taking minds just to stay in the game
Made me someone I wasn't it's not just a name
Why do we do, like you?
Why do we do?
Made me someone I wasn't it's not just a name
You called me something I wasn't it's not just a name
You made me someone I wasn't it's not just a name
You called me something I wasn't it's not just a name
Thank you for this....google's results on the lyrics aren't quite as accurate as this. Now one can sing along :D
Heart wrenching words. Thanks for uploading

The whole vibe Reminds me of PRINCE 💔💜💜💜💜💜

The title reminds me of the woman I love.
