Modern Mirror is a journey of self-reflection, nostalgia, love, beauty, and heartbreak told across eight addictive and emotional synth pop anthems - a seemingly classic tale delivered unblinkingly through the frame of the modern world.

LYRICS:
YOU TRY TO CONTEST A LIE
WHICH YOU PROBABLY TOLD
A DEAD VENDETTA SUSTAINED
WHEN WE'RE ALL TOO OLD
PRONE TO DIG DOWN
IN GROUNDS WHERE YOU SHOULDN'T GO
(YOU GET A RED LIGHT)
A LIFE WITHOUT OXYGEN
WHISPERED IN THE BREATH
YOU COULDN'T BREATHE OR LEAVE ALONE
AND YOU WANTED A REASON TO GO.
DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THIS MIND?
AM I OUT OF SEQUENCE
OR IN THE TIMES
THE DAY I CRIED
DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THESE TIMES?
AM I OUT OF SEQUENCE
OR IN MY MIND
THE DAY I CRIED
OUT OF SEQUENCE
OR IN MY MIND
THE DAY I CRIED.
YOU'RE BORN TO A CREST
OBSESSED WITH THE FAMILY STONES
YOUR HANDS MADE OF WAX
ATTACK THE FLAMES IN WHICH YOU THROW
FACTS FROM YOUR AFTERMATH
THAT YOU CAN’T DENY
(YOU GET A RED LIGHT)
A SIGN TWO SPLIT MINDS
IS JUST THE DIFFERENCE OF AN EYE.
(YOU GET A RED LIGHT)
AND YOU WANTED A REASON TO CRY.
DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THIS MIND?
AM I OUT OF SEQUENCE
OR IN THE TIMES
THE DAY I CRIED
DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THESE TIMES?
AM I OUT OF SEQUENCE
OR IN MY MIND
THE DAY I CRIED
DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THIS MIND?
AM I OUT OF SEQUENCE
OR IN THE TIMES
THE DAY I CRIED
OUT OF SEQUENCE OR IN THE TIMES THE DAY I CRIED.
Who else are listening to this in 1983 and 2034 simultaneously?

This made my day! ;)
You know we're all gonna buy both the vinyl and the high quality digital release so it's not even far from the truth...
I can smell the smoke machine
WOW this is brilliant , guys don´t let this industry consume your essence and creativity ...
So true, that happened to Xmal Deutschland
@@jrkradik and sisters of mercy
Sofocles Mefisto sisters of mercy just gave up and became a joke. To not write any songs in 20 years but yet touring is quite lame and resting on your laurels.
@@miked3168 Watch your mouth. You have to be kidding
What creativity? It sounds like a pastiche of every mediocre synth act
their music has more hooks than a fishing tackle store
I KNOW RIGHT ITS AWESOME
The intro gets me every time. Then the key change and speed up. Totally unexpected the first time.
Yeah it was.
It is a throw off, but good one
Spoiler alert cmon man!!
@0 V 0 Official you mad bro?
i could hear this for hours
Discovered this band from a black metal drummer's shirt in a music video. I'm not disappointed.
Deafheaven?
LOL nice
Yup, deafheaven what's in your bag or something like that.
Daniel loves the darkwave shit. i hung out w them at a goth club after a show and him and the old bassist were just dorkily dancing to Cocteau Twins the whole time lol
@@nom5358 they definitely seem that nerdy! In a good way, I guess?
Oh my God, it's like Robert Smith and Andrew Eldrich had a love child.
I got to hang out briefly with Andrew/Deb at a bar after their Atlanta show last year, and he was just super down-to-earth and friendly. Just love this band so much.
I would like to just take a moment to acknowledge just how beautiful that intro is.
fucking awesome intro
spot on ... the intro is 101
And then the change...w👁w!
No you can't...we don't have time
Gave me chills down my spine.
The last 40 seconds of this song is 🔥🤯
Never underestimate the power of a tastefully employed vocoder.
Especially on the album. Here they faded it out to early... :O
This is making me so happy. Waking up to new Drab has really brightened the last few months for me.
It isn't so 'drab' after all, wouldn't you say? ;)
@@JaesCollectables Not at all ;)

Boy harsher - pain
@@grimhbrh7610 Boy Harsher gives me pain in all the good and bad ways. I love Jae
How can anyone dislike this..They make everything and think of everything that we cannot, that's how good they are!! Best synth sound of this era. I remember in at the Cloak & Dagger fest. I went to someone yelled "SPACE BROTHERS" and Deb and Mona looked down at me..a small smirk given..I was frozen..they were amazing and their music takes you away. ❤️
Pandora Quinn - GOALS!!
Retro yet modern. Dark yet euphoric. Modern Mirror - best album to date for 2019. Convince me I'm wrong. You can't.
We can't.
Health Vol 4 is pretty mind blowing tbh
@Xeph Xen Nice
May I suggest you the latest Ladytron album? Anyway, Modern Mirror is an excellent album.
She Past Away's Disko Anksiyete is up there with Modern Mirror
Flock of Seagulls meets Bauhaus's Peter Murphy! A commentor from a video from Professor of Rock on the Seagulls sent me here. I'm glad I searched this out! Love this!
Best music video on RUclips
My daughter directed me here. Good girl. Happy Dad....
great music video
I love the references to the previous clips! The jacket from "The Heiress", statues from "The Foyer" and the plastic chairs from "39 By Design". Brilliant!
Ever since my brother showed me these guys I've been hooked !
Brilliance. You guys are the hottest act in synth music right now.
@@trembling3674 synsefizers are soo hot right now...
it's quite guitary
Beautifull.... That is all
I said I'd never listen to adult contemporary, and this really brings out a lot of 'growing up in the 80's' memories of soulless music and tasteless yuppies. But somehow, this retro-inspired act is still great to me, at this point in my life. Definitely nothing but the best of synthwave can grab me. They took those corny old timbres and did something ingenuitive with them. I haven't been so happy with an act since Information Society!
That timing signature switchup tho .... hottest drop since "In the air tonight".
Loving the oldskool goth vibes. This so takes me back to when I used to listen to Cocteau Twins, An April March, The Mission UK, The Sisters of Mercy. Ahh the memories.
🖤🖤🖤
I read some guys response to your comment on a Black Marble video and he mentioned this band Drab Majesty that I didn't know about b4 that's crazy now Im here listening for the first time it's amazing.
@@andrew2k00 Small world, eh? :)
@@sorcerykid nope just people with good taste in music :)
I don't consider this album goth imo. It borrows from goth but its so much more refreshing. I honestly believe if you dropped the visual anesthetic on Drab Majesty, Goths would not identify with this. Well on the sole purpose of being goth anyway
love you love you love you
I’m a death/black metal head and I absolutely love these guys
Me too. But I always loved 80s music, and these guys are dark as fuck!
Same here brother. The thing about metalheads I noticed is that we value honesty and passion in music above all. Goth rock definitely has no shortage of this, oh and of course ethereal melancholy.
Variety is good. I like most, I like rap the very very least.
I dig Miami Vice kinda vibe probably more than most. I like wild rock n roll over depressed. Etc.
metalhead listening to other music without mentioning they're a metalhead challenge failed
I've always listened to metal and 80sy stuff too lol. I always loved Le Casette, Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode, Aha, Duran Duran
First concert I'm going to see when Covid is vanquished? DRAB MAJESTY
It should be a great set list this upcoming tour.So many great songs to choose from.See you next month in Seattle.Thank you Drab Majesty.
This is really good. I was a teenager in the 80's. This is better than 80's music. Great aesthetics. I'm a fan now.
Deb's guitar tone is amazing. He has such a gift for melody. This album sounds more driven by those instincts and I love the direction. The added collaboration with Mona just works so well. Looking forward to the whole thing.
Based on this and VRSEX I'd say he has to be one of the most interesting guitarists on the planet right now.
AND an unbelievable drummer in Marriages.
Alexios K I concur.
yes that's the word melodic 💕
Oh holy shit, they were in Marriages?!?!
Mano, essa banda só tem música boa
Verdade. Os três álbuns de estúdio são sensacionais! Pena que eles talvez não voltem mais a produzir algo novo, mas vamos aguardar...
I can't wait for Drab's next album... huge fan since I discovered them through the song Ellipsis
The other side is dope
We ready for that new album!
Ellipsis was my introduction as well 😊
Era pra ter milhões de visualizações
Ainda vai chegar lá, mas de fato o estilo é bem underground...Vida longa ao Drab Majesty...🖤🎶
Great song! New Wave, Goth, and Industrial all rolled together.
I love the intro
This is amazing
sisters of mercy
I met these guys on Mozart's spacecraft in 2049. Really nice guys. The risotto on planet Zorbtel is to die for.
Especially with the signature sauce-it’s new, didn’t know how I felt about it first but it’s good! Vail’s in the kitchen-he’s my cousin!! He’s from Murkryth too. What are the chances? We are like in the middle of nowhere lol
I am taking them back to 1984 in my Time Machine where they will be immortalized 😎😎😎
magnificent drab majesty, sounds of post punk stars
I'm starting to think these guys can churn out amazing material in their sleep
The probably do. Dreaming of aliens and strange stuff... :D
..perhaps the occasional comet as well ;)
I love this song and music video. It is amazing how Drab Majesty sounds and has own post - punk identity.
well done
The visuals and overall aesthetic in your videos are sooo delectable. 🤤🥰 I cant get enough 🥺
Magic
Never mind the amazing key change. It's the melody that comes right after this that gives me goosebumps instantly. Every single of the thousands of times I've listened to this. It's like music to the ending credits to the most amazing 80s movie that never was.
For me, this album is a masterpiece. Beautifully dark and emotional.
Put on a good pair of headphones and the harmonies and production is candy for the ears and emotional drive
I've listened too alot of intricate and complex music. But this song is superior. I've never heard such a perfect layering of nostalgia, darkness, and joy.
so fkn good...
Сегодня в нашей стране война. Спасибо за этот лучик солнца, утешает ваша музыка. Спасибо от поклонницы из Украины )
God be with you and your family.
Слава Украины! А мне интересно, эти парни любят или знают Цоя? Или обратно, они бы понравились Цою?
Are you still alive ?
I’m with you. I hope you’re all okay.
Oh. My. GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Each track that gets released by this band gives me an eargasm like I haven't had since Music was great (back in 1985). It's just that these guys actually do it just slightly BETTER than we did back then. is it just me or are these Majesties headed to the top of the Mountain in terms of today's Alternative Rock scene? Rock on, Drabs - Rock on!
Oh
My

This is so bizarre and I fucking love it!

Thank you DM to let me wake up to this amazing music! And video is so surreal and awesome as always.

Drab is such a great band! 80s all the way!
The second half of this video is based around deb and mona answering all the venue bookings after they put out the album
The US venues are hopefully calling for our Modern Mirror Tour! I'd love a Dallas, Austin (2 shows), Houston, New Orleans, Nashville, St Louis, Memphis 👉 Upper to Lower West Coast Holliday with DrabMajesty being the common denominator. I spoke it into the now. My heart and hope are pure. Now we faithfully wait in silence. Everything's eventual.
Love to Drab Majesty, The Crew, The Fans, and The Silent Ones 💙🙏💙
im Angry frustrated and wanna beat someone, but I'm 35 and doing things a bit differently so listening to this track makes me a bit chill.. Thanks boys for this song
I have not had my breath taken away by a band’s sound since I was in my early twenties. Thanks Drab, you guys move my soul. ❤️ Look forward to seeing you live in San Francisco soon.
This video has endless leisure. Sh*t, even the lawn chairs don't want to stand up. Love it
Could honestly listen to that intro for forever

Cannot WAIT for their Detroit show this August.

They saved the best single for last! Nice one!
Arguably the best song on Modern Mirror! Top three anyway.
Another Amazing Gem!
Big sunglasses = cool band
Puuffff Bestial sounds mega escencial 80 darkwave pop 👍😎
Thank you, waiting for your show in August is less torturous with new videos 🧞♂️
I'm hearing some awesome Lush like sounds around the 5:00 mark.
HA! Before coming to this track, I was listening to Starlust (split version) by them. Amazing band❤. Drab Majesty is fucking amazing too! :-) ♡. Also, I like your Beyond the Black Rainbow icon😊. The OST for that movie is really good!
I can see a bit of Lush's Desire Lines there, which is a major compliment because Emma Anderson was a hell of a songwriter.
Down another youtube rabbit hole I go and this is where I end up.......no complaints here:)

"King of Cyber Gothic". This band is, for me or other might think same.
cyber goth is a thing that has existed for many years, and its looks nothing like this. This is like... vaporwave goth. Which is fine, not a crack or anything, its just not cyber.

There are songs that make me feel so upbeat I can listen to them endlessly. This is one of those songs.
New Drab Majesty makes my body spin. I spin so fast my dizziness creates a swaying image of my environment. I fall to the ground and when I open my eyes again I stand aboard a star ship manned by lizards. I swing my big hands breaking their lizard bodies and punching holes in the ship. When they die, I make my escape through a damaged wall. I open my arms and fly to Saturn to see the Mao Toa.
