  • Welcome to another video!! This is my first studio work after a few months of only finishing Plein Air studies, and I am thrilled to be able to share it with you! There is so much that goes into a painting like this that I can't possibly explain it all, but there is still so many keys you'll be able to learn from this lengthy video. From "dry brushing" to using a shop towel to smudge, get ready to glean tips and tricks to add to your own painting techniques!
    What brushes do I use?
    For Sketch: #2 Synthetic Round
    For Block-in: Any medium-sized Synthetic, Trimmed Filbert (or angle brush), #2 Synthetic Round
    For Modeling: #2 Synthetic Round
    For Details: #2 Synthetic Round, #1 Synthetic Round
    What colors do I use?
    Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Crimson, Brilliant Red, Yellow Ochre, Lemon Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber

    The brightness of the light coming from the sunset is extraordinary. I did get worried when you started to lighten up the sky but it really worked well. The motion you have achieved in the waves is just superb, this is a terrific painting thank you so much for sharing how you created it 🙏

      Thank you Graham. I always appreciate your comments. Yes, when looking back at that point when I lightened the sky, I was like, "woah, that seems a little out of control!". Thanks again my friend and happy painting.
