    Just incredible. The best thing that happened to me for my art is finding this man. He has taking me to the next level of oil painting. His teaching ability is as fine as his artwork. It's incredible what you learn thank you Layne.

    It was wonderful watching you Layne, thank you so much for this lovely video. It is a great idea to give people an idea of what you teach with a few excerpts explaining 'how' you teach. You have a wonderful soothing voice when you are teaching (just like Bob Ross). What spectacular work you do. If anyone could convince me to give oil painting a go its you. At the moment I do everything but 😉oil painting. However your techniques transfer very well to other mediums too. Thank you so much again.

    Thanks Layne, great work! I have a question, I see you transfer a grid to the painting, is this paint or what are you using? And doo you cover it up entirely or leave some? I understand the reasoning to use it. I am working on a large sunset right now and feeling a touch overwhelmed.

    • @LayneJohnsonStudio
      @LayneJohnsonStudio  2 месяца назад

      Hey Jacquelyn - I typically do my grid with conte pencil and my sketch with conte and/or charcoal. The imprimatura is typically thin enough that I can still see the underlying sketch. Here are a few other videos that might be helpful (it's the same process I teach in my courses):

    Good evening Master Layne 🌹My Master can I know how many stages/layers you used to paint this painting❓and did you wait for each layer to dry before starting the new layer❓or did you paint wet on wet…❓thank you so much for your answer advance…🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹

    • @LayneJohnsonStudio
      @LayneJohnsonStudio  17 дней назад +1

      I paint in layers, so yes, typically each layer is dry before I painted in that area again. As for how many layers? I don't count, but it's whatever it takes to achieve the results I'm after.

    What are you dipping your brush into?

    • @LayneJohnsonStudio
      @LayneJohnsonStudio  8 месяцев назад

      You mean at the beginning of the video during the imprimatura? On my palette I've got paint thinned with Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits). But a few times I also dipped my brush into the Gamsol when I needed to add a bit more to the paint.
