- They're finally here. The next and final installments to this generations saloon headers from Mercedes and BMW.
The two car manufactures continue to inch closer on the time sheets yet remain visually divergant on their conquest to lead the automotive industry. With the vehicle market as whole moving into a new direction from its ear popping and tarmac tearing past, these two facelifts will play an important role in supporting a revised look on how a proper 4 door should look and feel. Find out my take on these evolutionary facelifts.
The new BMW 5 Series grabs attention instantly with its dazzling Phytonic Blue paint finish. From there, discover new elements such as the enhanced front apron with larger air inlets and the sharpened contours with strong angles. Its evolution is subtle yet impactful, and still every bit an icon. With the intelligent all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive and the Drive Performance Control with optional Adaptive Mode, the BMW 5 Series Saloon is a modern masterpiece. Also enhancing the experience is the Active Air Stream kidney grille, and other optional features including adaptive suspension.
Mercedes-Benz has been on a roll of late, producing some of the finest luxury cars in any segment it so desires. The E-Class is just one such exploit, a midsize luxury sedan that has become an icon of modern luxury and interior design. But those with gasoline in their veins have always wanted more; AMG models have come along to satiate those desires but have often been inaccessible and overly harsh for the E-Class's intended market. Mercedes-AMG hit the sweet spot when the E53 arrived for 2019, taking all the luxury of the standard E-Class, but pairing it with a potent-yet-civil powertrain in the form of a new inline-six (Mercedes first since the end of the 20th century) coupled with a mild hybrid system. It heralded a new era, one that has quickly seen the powertrain rolled out across numerous products in the brand's lineup. Arguably the best embodiment of the Mercedes-AMG ethos of luxury and performance in one package, the E53 Saloon is about to get even better for 2021.

This is a nice short video but I believe a lot of info was left out and did not go in depth such as various trim levels that exist for both e class and 5 series and driving dynamic. Similar to the e class, you can also get M design on lower trim levels. The e53 direct competition is m550 and the m550 is truly a beast and a league of its own. You get a powerful 8 cylinder engine instead of the 6 in the AMG 53. While the exterior AMG styling is nice, the new E class looks boring, uninspiring and fairly cheap. It’s difficult to tell any of the Mercedes apart now a days since they all look the same. I test drove the e450 and the bmw 540 and there is no comparison. The 540 with the B58 is a such an amazing engine that instills excitement. The B58 is powerful and you can really feel the pull. The e450 felt like driving a Camry! I guess I have some bias because I am young and prefer an exciting driving experience. Anyway those are my two cents. Thanks for the video! Look forward to watching more!

You’re comparing the BMW 5 series to the Mercedes e53.. I think the direct comparison is a bit unfair. Great video otherwise
So you agree that the Mercedes AMG E53 is the best combination of luxury and sport. BMW does not have the luxury of Mercedes.

This is not a like for like comparison! The E covers the BMW3 to 5 and has a far lower price range available. It also offers far more “options” as standard that cost a fortune on the BMW!
