I believe that quote was by Thaler. Something along the lines of "If I were a poet, I'd say that the temerian lilies will bloom under the great sun. But I'm not, so I'll say it was the only fuckin' way"
Man they really fleshed out temeria and I have to say, foltest is actually one for he better kings that you meet in the game. Nice vid man, very informative
I remember falling in love with Elder Scrolls lore like 5 years ago. The master witcher george is making me fall in love with witcher lore now. Amazing video as always
To be perfectly honest I always found eldar scrolls to be way too close to Tolkien for me to ever get into the lore. It's the high elves and the orcs that ruin it really. If you've ever read the silmarillion you'll probably understand where I'm coming from.
I can never forgive Letho for killing Foltest and with that horrendous act unfolding a chain of events which resulted in so many deaths, rapes and overall tragedy in Temeria. I just can't bring myself to alternatively let him live in TW3 and pretend he's my fellow witcher-friend. He's not. He's a disgrace to witchers. He might possibly be even worse than the worst psycho Cat witcher by conducting political assassinations.
Except he did all that out of manipulation by the emperor who had promised Letho that he would rebuild the school of the viper if Letho would carry out all the assassinations. So in the end Letho just wanted a place where he could belong and as a result yes he caused great chaos but still I for one can't condemn him for his actions.
It's a difficult choice, on one hand Letho was basically forced into killing the kings, by the emperor tempting him with the promise of a place in the world(his school reborn, also I imagine that he would most likely have spent the rest of his life in a cell if he refused), but on the other, as you said the events that unfolded afterwards, allowed nilfgaard to perform a successful invasion and result in the deaths of a lot of innocent northern mages (when Leho exposed the lodge to Radovid), I let him live, as I feel that he wasn't to know the repercussions of his actions and he was just doing what he thought was best for his school.
letho knows that emperor will deceive him but he killed kings because he was just able to do it. as for foltest he let his striga kill tons of people for 7 years and does nothing to solve it. i never liked him. in my playthrough shilard died and he didnt expose the lodge to rad hehe.
gegen sw I respect your ipinion but its wrong none the less lolxd! Under all that cold indifference Letho is actually a decent person, a very flawed and viciously cunning person but still regardless quite decent. He's most certainly not a villian I can tell you that but more a product of the world in which he lives and as a result of his lot in life which was thrusted upon him.
"Vizima" sounds like derrived from a Polish word for "winter". As you mentioned, it is "Wyzima" in Polish. The "zima" part of the name means "winter" while "wy" prefix means movement outwards or away. So it either means something along the lines of "Winter moving forward" or "WInter going away" (hard to tell which was the intention in this case). Basically, it's the Polish Winterfell lol.
"So we shall my friend. We have witnessed-and, in fact, on several occasions incited-many great and weighty events. After all that toil, I believe we deserve a bit of rest." "That we do." I'm suffering from witcheritis 😭😭😭
The playlist idea going into more depth sounds like a fantastic idea. These are great intros into the topic but I am really looking forward to knowing more!
Great video, I heard in one of your streams that it takes like hours to make these videos and it shows in the quality of every lore video you put out, keep up the good work and hopefully you’ll hit 10k subs soon enough.
WitcherGeorge Pretty good. Stopped off to look at a castle on the way, got my borrowed kit back and got myself a perfectly balanced M-class viking sword by a well known sword maker from the scene. Nice scenery too
Is there anything in the books, since you seems very informative about them, about what happened to Roach? In the end of Witcher 2 if you help him, he ends protecting the young princess (Forgot her name) to inherit the throne of Temeria; nothing about that in Witcher 3!? I like this character very much, and it has a real chemistry with Gerald in Witcher 2 & 3. I hope you can do a video about him. Also, If you can do a video about Triss Merigold; she has a long history with Gerald in the 3 games; beside, I heard the books have other side of her not shown in the games. Thanks for your great effort in these videos
Well after nilfgaard/radvoid invaded, Temeria was no more, so I imagine that the child was probably taken as a political prisoner or killed, it's annoying as when the witcher 3 was made, so many story lines were just left (Iorveth and Saskia come to mind), we have no confirmation of what happened to her, but we can assume that she died or is in hiding, as for Roche he is not a book character and introduced in the witcher 2. Thank you for the compliment man and Roche would be a fun video to make! Thank you man.
Great video WitcherGeorge! Could your next history lore video be on Kaedwen? As they're probably my favourite northern kingdom and little is mentioned about their history in the games/books so anything you could dig up would be cool.
When you say the names etc, you should show some kind of image..i know its hard work but some of us cant remember the places and who you are talking about
Very good Recherche .Like to see that. As always... Great Video. Very good Intro. I am hooked. I am lookin on your fingers and i like what they are doing... ((That sounded weird...)
One thing which is still not fully clear to me, why did Geralt help with the LA Vallet siege if he's supposed not to get involved on human affairs other than killing monsters.
Are you planning a Ciri video, or have I missed? I would love to know more on why she was entrusted to Geralt and the relationship with Yen (apparently they weren't close in the book?)
Man your videos are amazing so proud to be subscribed to your channel and keep up the good work. For your next video could it be on witcher lore : dragons also speaking about the "golden Dragon" would love to see ypur input on it thanks
Just wanted to say a couple of things after watching this video again after the Aedirn one. Since a few notable people from Aedirn were mentioned in that video, I just felt like listing a couple of the important characters from Temeria (which were most likely left out due to the long list of royalty and nobility). I just feel like Roche should be mentioned as a notable Temerian and perhaps its most famous sorceresses as well, Triss Merigold of Maribor and Keira Metz of Carreras. I don't know if it's meant to but Temeria reminds me of France, in part due to the lilies (fleur-de-lis) and that some of the names sound French (ex. La Valette, Roche).
Isilme Tsukiyono dude you know it could be England you know like the fact William the conquer was king of England and normandy and history Wise it's similar to England and so much other stuff in common like the Pride they have of being temerian is similar to the pride of being English
Could be. I was just saying what my first thought was. It's quite likely that all the countries are a mix of real ones or not really based on any specific real countries at all. It might be possible to argue any specific country in the Witcher world is based on any number of real countries. I just watched a video which said Redania was Poland, but it ended by saying that many other countries were said to be Poland as well, including Temeria. (Since the author and the game company are both Polish, it's not surprising that every place might have a little bit of Poland in them, since it'd be what's the most familiar to them). I think most countries take pride in being whatever nationality they are, not just the English.
@@danjacob6635 the falg of temaria is basically the French flag. Plus the French were proud of being French too you know. Oh and William the conqueror was French.
@@ashleyien1222 honestly (to me atleast) the northern kingdoms really seem like as if all the countries of Europe were basically poland (imagine a polish France, England, Switzerland etc) and the Nilfgaardians (the weird invaders proud of being civilized and speaking a weird language) seem to be germany or German-esque

So I still don't understand why Temeria was defeated by redania and nilfgaard, I get that foltest was dead so they didn't have a leader but can anyone clarify why they actually lost?
Lots of kingdom have fiefdoms part of their kingdom that's very normal so you can be a duke with your own dutchy and be under rule of a monarch that's usally always the case especially in real life sometimes they were independent only because they were allowed to be that's it
If I recall correctly, Roche can also become (Kinda) ruler of Tameria in TW3. Correct me if im wrong tho, I just recall getting something of the sort in the end cinematic.
I have seen a number of the videos and they are pretty good. I am curious if you just base them off primary on games or have you read the books and it is a cross reference?
I would argue its last King was Foltest because in either scenario Temeria would no longer be its own country. It will be swallowed by either Nilfgaard or Redania. So while yes either of those 3 new people will become king of that land it will not be as the king of Temeria. That will be whomever the Temerians choose as their new king. Similar to how Anna Henrietta is duchess of Tussaint even though Tussaint is a part of the Empire.
France, kinda : the blue flag with lys flowers was the flag of france for a long time and france was often the most powerful country in europe (and most populous, more than russia) and one of the richest.
The history of Temeria in the novels is much more complex than it is in the games, and one of the main reasons why I didn't enjoy the second game was because of the fact that they changed the story just so much from the books that,at least for me,the world was almost unrecognisable. But I guess the changes were needed for where there story was going in the games, but every time I play it it's just annoying and it just makes me even more upset cause I loved the second game alot. A great video by the way. If you can do a little on the kingdoms that are not mentioned or not seen in the games. Like; The kingdom of Cintra or the kingdom of Kovir and Poviss.
In my FanFiction the continent is Beyond the Seas of Thedas; after a conjunction of spheres humans came into this world and settled. some stayed here and some went further west and landed in what is now Thedas (humans of that world also came from somewhere else). There are differences between them but also similarities... Again this is my FanFiction not opinion on the general prospective
i bet their alliance will be broken after 1 week applying the book hehe. it is just not profitable to give vassal states and spend tons of florens for them.
Primary not less profitable. after breaking their treaty their civil war will be surpassed very fast. Even scoiatael wasn't able to start their revolutions in nilfgaard because the imperials supress revolutions very easy. they cannot do it in witcher 3 because of radovid and his army. it is much profitable to annex their lands. and according to the books and dialouges between two nilfgaardians in white orchard sooner or later they will do it.
Hmm wouldn’t Princess Anais become the queen if you side with Roche during reason of state? After all even though they become a Vassal state they are their own country with a sovereign that is accountable to only one person emhyr or Cirilla. As Thaler says “ with its own adminstratives structures, court, and armies.”
In the past: I like Temeria... In the witcher 3: I hate what it has become.... I forgive Letho tho. It was not personal & we all make a living somehow. Even if bad for others. So few witchers left. I can't bring my self to kill any. Not only that tho, he was used. He just wanted his school back really.
make a video on redania and nilfgaard too.. I want to let roche live but I can't stand emhyr winning so I always let djikstra become the ruler.. he's better than radovid and quite likeable if you ignore him killing roche
It would be intresting to have a video on all the diferent accents people speak in the witcher, or more soecificly, if witchers have places of origin like Mahakam or Nilfgard or Temeria the why do all witchers have american accents that dont coincide with their places of origin?
It's fine, the intro video length depends on what I find on the subject, to get the full impact of the intro video, I had to show almost the full scene (I cut a little, but not much). The intro video length depends on the subject, for example my lodge of sorceresses intro is much shorter, It just sets up the subject and introduces the video, currently I have no adds so, hitting the 10 minute mark etc do nothing for me.

It would be intresting to have a video on all the diferent accents people speak in the witcher, or more soecificly, if witchers have places of origin like Mahakam or Nilfgard or Temeria the why do all witchers have american accents that dont coincide with their places of origin?
I'll think about it!
Why not do a lore video on vesemir
I will definitely in the future!
They changed the w to a v because w is v in polish
Did you just read the Wiki page to us for 9 minutes?
Temeria, that's what matters.
DALEJ CHŁOPY, ZA TEMERIE
“Aka english” is so funny to me. I’d assume it’s polish
The silver lilies will bloom under the golden sun
according to the book they won't cuz emhyr will betray them
You say in this vid that Temeria is the wealthiest northern kingdom but in the vid about kovir, you say that kovir is the wealthiest? Otherwise nice 💪
The North 💪 Tameria
Why do they have to be called Lillies thats makes me depressed
why?
Connor Shekelstein in french de call them "fleurs de lys" (they are kind of very symbolic to us)
Ummm excuse me? Common speach is English? Sir I think you meant Polish lol
I mean for my translation aha
everyone thinks they can 1v1 geralt, tsk
Emhyr is the one true king.
Wouldn’t common speak be Polish?
Where is my GOT fandom?
i clicked to know wtf is the civil war in tw2 is about and why and when did he got 2 kids ? ....wrong video i guess
Fuck Radovid.
All I hear is "Milf guard"
I'm sorry to be an ass but what's the deal with the almost two minute intro
It's fine, the intro video length depends on what I find on the subject, to get the full impact of the intro video, I had to show almost the full scene (I cut a little, but not much). The intro video length depends on the subject, for example my lodge of sorceresses intro is much shorter, It just sets up the subject and introduces the video, currently I have no adds so, hitting the 10 minute mark etc do nothing for me.
ok I do love the videos you do great work.
They speak probably polish not English
Temeria...AKA France
Oi Oi
Hi
Bad accent, ok...
Beginning way too long
Great video
Thanks man!
