I know you have difficulty filming in malls, but there's an ice skating rink at Jcube Level 3. For night Hawker Centre, best would be Boon Lay Village known for Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak that opens till 3-4am before covid, not sure about now. There's also morning/day hawker centres like Taman Jurong Hawker Centre, Yuhua Place, Yuhua Village (Yuhua Place is opposite Chinese Garden MRT, Yuhua Village is the one you went to. They are 2 different hawker centres), Jurong West 505 Hawker Centre, Jurong West Blk 492 area has many many coffeeshops and Takagi Ramen known Singaporeans to be cheap and good and opened by Ai Takagi and her Singaporean husband. They also have outlets in Chong Pang, AMK, Downtown East, Woodlands and one-north.
You have missed out on IMM, Science centre, Snow city, Jurong lake gardens, Jurong Bird Park and new upcoming onsen soon in Jurong. We have discovery centre and NTU (university) with nice modern architectural buildings.
@@jackjackyphantom8854 That is going off topic. If go overseas, might as well go Thailand, Japan or Korea. Not to mention now going overseas is out of the question.
Back then Jurong East used to be very plain before Westgate, Jem and Jcube came about. Jurong East has become my common haunt when it comes to shopping and eating for almost 7 years now.
Ahhh Jurong used to be my playground. Surprisingly no one remembered Science Centre and Snow City lol! Ice Skating ring in JCube is a good time killer. You watch people go round and round lol! Not sure if ice skating ring is open during these times though.
The drink stall which you bought your coffee from at Yuhua Hawker Centre, hands down one of the cheapest drink stall I am aware of. Hot drinks like tea and coffee that easily cost $1.10 to $1.30 elsewhere just cost 80 to 90 cents there. The stall owner also opens during the 1st 2 days of Chinese New Year (during which most hawkers will take a rest and close shop), and maintains the same price on their drink for that 2 days (when other stalls that choose to open will easily add a surcharge of 50 cents to $1 for their food)!
yes this stall is where my family patronize daily. very affordable and good. the lady boss's husband makes the coffee, he is Thai~ but coffee very authentically SG. :)
Go to Science Centre, our favorite school outing place when we were young. Can also go to Nanyang Technological University where they have the Yunnan Garden and a Chinese Heritage Center (but might be closed, check first).
I live in Tiong Bahru. Not only is Jurong ulu to me (for the West, anything beyond Clementi is ULU), but places beyond Bedok in the East including Tampines, Pasir Ris and Changi are also ULU. Places in the North beyond Serangoon including Sengkang, Punggol, Yishun, Sembawang and Woodlands are also ULU. I simply can't imagine myself living in ANY of those places in Singapore.
Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle came to my mind when you say you are looking for something cultural. It has the last surviving Dragon Klin in Singapore. But I think it is kind of out of the way from the MRT and kind of tricky finding it.
Oh, you missed Jurong Lake Gardens further down. Even though it doesn't have the iconic structures of Chinese & Japanese Gardens, it still holds it's weight in terms of landscaping. It is pretty & big, I spent about 4 hours exploring the place. There are dog run park, playgrounds, eatery, instagrammable lalang fields with small hills, swimming pool, gym, man-made beach, community gardens, the famous lone "tree", and recently they just added Singapore's largest wetlands park. All within Jurong Lake Gardens. As a nature lover, and even though it's man-made, I would go as far to say that Jurong Lake Gardens is the jewel of Jurong.
Come back and explore Jurong again, explore Taman Jurong locale next time, alight at Lakeside MRT take a stroll or cycle along the renovated Jurong Lake Garden - Stopover at Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre for lunch, I recommend ButterNut for their smoked duck thin crust pizza. Its rare to get such good Western fusion food in the west. - Probably take photos around block 63 to 66 Yung Kuang Road aka Diamond Block, its a local iconic building. - You can go continue further end of Yuan Ching Road to Jurong SuperBowl, I used to bowling with my friends there. I personally resonates the place to Johor, because of the open-air carpark and supermarket.
You need to go further west to 505 Jurong West Market with nice Fish Soup with explosive Chili sauce, chicken porridge, Taman Jurong Market with famous BCM & Lor Mee and historical Boon Lay Food Market with many traditional local food.
You should explore Jurong West and Boon Lay too! Lots of hidden gems at the wet market, Kim Lotus Dessert, Suzuki Gourmet Coffee, Jurong Lake Gardens etc.
The areas you have visited is either a more commercialised area (Jurong East) and also a quieter neighbourhood (at the time of your visit as Yuhua market is morning market). Others - Bird park is nearby too (before they move to Mandai soon) so that's also another afternoon activity. A more local mall that has been here for the longest is Jurong Point @ Boon Lay MRT, there's Malaysia Boleh for Msia food, Hong Kong street for Hong Kong food, and basement we also have the Japanese Street for Jap food. Hope you have fun the next time!
You should go "raffles marina" there's a nice light house where u can enjoy the view of Tuas Bridge connecting to Malaysia. There is a nice light house there too
I love Jurong, I no longer need to go orchard for shopping. It has a good mix of big malls among coffee shops and hawker Centres. There is jurong lake, Chinese and Japanese garden
The government wanted to make Jurong East to be another CBD. As for the history of Jurong (and Tuas), u should look it up...how they transformed the area from the 60s to now. Brought along your Passport to Jurong? That's adorable.
Actually there are many Japanese who stays in Jurong East and Clementi as the Waseda school is nearby and many Japan shops in the west. Jurong East itself has 2 Donki. Niigata Albirex also trains at the stadium there.
Hey Ghib you can consider visiting Jurong Bird Park and Jurong Hill Park. In the 1960s-1980s, important foreign visitors would visit Jurong Hill Park to plant trees and look at the Jurong Industrial Estate. You can catch a view of Jurong Island atop the hill too. Other suggestions would include Yun Nan Garden at NTU, Jurong Lake Gardens (access from Lakeside), and Jurong West 505 Market and Food Center
I am a proud native of Jurong, I was born here and lived here for 34 years already. What you see is only a small part of Jurong! Jurong is a huge area! Contact me and I can give you a free tour!

You should have visited Science Centre! It’s amazing! My friend’s father used to be the head of the SC and we visited there at least once a week when I was a kid. Never get bored. My secondary school (Singapore Japanese School) used to be in Jurong, but I heard it moved to Changi. I wonder what was built there. The shopping mall that you visited this time? The place has changed a lot! Would like to visit there when the travel restriction is lifted.😃
it's so weird i haven't been to that side of the country in probably decades? i literally went around here a few weeks back after my vaxx shot and it would've been great to bump into you tbh x much love ojisan
So far when i buy Gindaco Takoyaki it’s always freshly made & really hot inside …have to let it cool down.. Probably if you go during lunch or dinner time it would be freshly made.
Next trip, try visit Jurong Point shopping mall next to Boon Lay MRT station. There is a stretch of Japanese food street stalls (modelling part of Osaka Dotonbori) located at the basement 1 level, link between old wing & new wing of the shopping mall. At level 2 of new wing section, next to NTUC Extra is the HK food street section with the HK neon light signboard decoration, it’s organised by HK Tourism Board. Then, at the far end side of the new wing, there is another corner called “Malaysia Boleh” featuring the street food stalls in Malaysia, organised by Malaysia Tourism Board.
I always go to jurong for 2 food places -Hua Xing Bah Kut Teh in the AM 347 Jurong East Ave 1, #01-171, Singapore 600347 -Zai Shun Curry fish head (i order dishes like sharks head, soup and steamed fish at this zichar stall) 253 Jurong East St 24, #01-205, Singapore 600253
If the HSR link to Malaysia was confirmed then u may need to use your passport in the future when it is fully completed..and the vibe here at jurong east will be different...sad to say this project was abolished last year or so.😥.
Yunnan Garden @ NTU is quite interesting if you are into chinese looking building. The Hive NTU which looks like "dimsum tower" :D There is also pottery place called Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle where u can make your own master piece. Its not your "usual" looking studio as this has a more "kampong" feel to it. Have fun exploring Jurong!
Lakeside is just around that corner! I can't believe you wasted your video/visit to Jurong without being more informed better, total WASTE and injustice done to Jurong!
All the old hdb commercial shops are the same. The malls beside the mrt station also the same . That's why no one can recommend u where to go when u ask the people there, it's just the same as any other estate.
You should come back and go IMM it is full with outlets shop. And you should go back and try the porridge the uncle told you. The fish porridge is really nice and just opposite the porridge stall, there is a chicken rice stall is also very nice. They will always have a long queue in the morning and at the other side you should also try the roasted pork noodles also very popular. You should come to this hawker centre in the morning they usually open in the morning. I can teach you how to come from the mrt station. No need to go one big round. And actually at chinese garden area, you should visit the jurong lake garden, it is open since the Chinese and Japanese garden is close.
Jurong Point ! FOR FOOD, JURONG WEST 505, Zai shun fish head , boon lay hawker and taman jurong hawker. Drop by jurong park Macs , science centre , warehouse club ,discovery centre 👌
Actually there is a branch of the 925 chicken rice near the MRT station. The porridge, carrot cake at the hawker center is good. There is another western food near the tiong bahru bao at the yuhua market. At the chinese garden MRT there is a Joo Siah Bak Kut teh which is nice
Jurong/Clementi/West Coast has a large population of Japanese staying there due to the proximity to the Japanese School. Even Albirex Niigata is there!
It is not a Chinese temple that you saw at Chinese Garden. It is a pagoda. Like a watch tower that you can climb up and take a good paranomic view of Jurong Lake.
Jurong is huge and is a combination of Jurong East and Jurong West. You've only been to some parts of Jurong East, and at the wrong timing and period. The main gardens are closed and only the new west side of the garden is opened. And you're probably went to the market in the late afternoon hence most stalls are usually closed by then. There's the first and only Olympic-sized ice-skating rink at JCube, as it's told. A science centre, a snow centre nearby and of course the garden attractions. So if JE is ulu, many other parts of Singapore are very very ulu lol...
I live in Tiong Bahru. Not only is Jurong ulu to me (for the West, anything beyond Clementi is ULU), but places beyond Bedok in the East including Tampines, Pasir Ris and Changi are also ULU. @@Pr3ppie what u see is the current state of Tiong Bahru after its gentrification. Have u been living there before 2000s? Most people won't like it because of the rats and old vibes it exudes...
Can explore Jurong Lake Gardens that's further down towards lakeside mrt. it's much further down from Chinese Garden, but it's really huge!! Also Taman Jurong Hawker Centre area has great food at night. The malls are great. with IKEA, Don don donki at Jcube & JEM, IMM is full of outlet malls of different brands and items are a lot cheaper. there's a good HK style restaurant at IMM too
someone mentioned jurong bird park, from there go up jurong hill park. got a pretty night view. but u gotta drive up there though. you can do few videos for jurong east, jurong west, boon lay (jurong point), old boon lay place (market and food centre), pioneer. NTU - Nanyang lake, Yunnan Gardens , the hostels, so many to walk. i'm sure we have so many fans here waiting to bring u to all the different places in jurong. :)
Hi, you have only been to Jurong East which is nearer to the city. Jurong stretches beyond to Boon Lay, Jurong West and beyond - that is when it gets ulu and industrial with many factories and less HDB settings.
Classic Singapore trash talk for the extreme west/north well done LOL. Also love that “Animal Crossing” sounding background music you always use in your videos.
The Singapore flags outside the HDB flats such as those you saw at Yuhua Village are put up by TC. There are few Singaporeans who put out flags nowadays.
Hi ! You missed the best Fei Fei Char Siew Noodle in Yuhua market. There are also a number of other good food here which you didn't get to try, e.g. best Roti Prata near (Parc Oasis and Lor Mee in Taman Jurong). I am happy to be your guide when you make a trip here again!
Agree with you. I had my first Gindaco at shinjuku kabukicho area... that's the most yummy takoyaki I had ever had.. very savoury. When I saw Gindaco is opening in Jcube, I was so happy but the standard is not there. And whoever told u to go Chinese garden must not be staying in jurong area, it has been closed for renovation since last year. 😅 Jurong lake garden is my new favourite place 😍.
the condo opposite chinese garden is where i lived before i got married and moved out! so yeah i have plenty of good things about jurong. and u can visit the jurong lake gardens. its peaceful, nice greenery. i like it alot
The hawker centre you went to is a morning food centre. Has the cheapest yet really good chicken rice stall there. Still can get a plate of chicken rice for $2. Rice is fragrant, tasty yet not too oily, and chicken is yummy. Go in mid-afternoon to avoid the long queue. Fei Fei wanton noodle behind it is very popular in the morning. Usually sold out by lunchtime. Be prepared for the queue also. There's also a carrot cake stall that's quite nice but usually closed by afternoon. And a fish soup stall alongside Indian food stalls that makes very good fish soup. Also gotta queue. That uncle pointed out the popular porridge stall as well. In the night, you can find quite good bbq stingray and zhi char.
Take the train ride to last station - Tuas Link, walk over to Raffles Marina Country Club have a nice meal and enjoy the Sunset overseeing across the strait of Johor. Not forgetting to capture the awesome view of light house and Second link bridge between Singapore and Malaysia.
You do not need a passport in Jurong. The closest need for a passport will be Jurong Island. But you will need more than a passport to get in. It's a top security area with live ammunition.
Jurong Hill Park, a.k.a old JTC summit beside Jurong Bird Park - you can find trees planted by many overseas VVIP in the 1970s, but, you need good stamina to climb to the top though, where you can have a good view of the whole Jurong estate 😊
Since you visited Yuhua Market & Food Centre, you should patronize Zai Shun Curry Fish Head for breakfast or lunch (coffeeshop next Yuhua market & food centre). Their Steam fish is famous, other recommended dishes are fried bittergourd egg, chai Po egg, prawn paste fried chicken, steam minced pork with salted fish, 金针veggie and curry fish head. They made it to the 2019 Top 30 Michelin Bib Gourmand List (before COVID-19 pandemic). Be sure to bring your family there the next time. Oh yes, they are closed on every Wednesday.
Did you go to Yuhua Market & Hawker Centre? Free Covid-19 testing will be extended to anyone who visited Yuhua Market and Hawker Centre in Jurong East between July 21 and Wednesday.
Welcome to Jurong/ Chinese Garden! Gotta head to Yuhua Market & Hawker Centre for breakfast next time! Great white carrot cake, vegetarian Teochew kueh and Mee Jiang Kueh. Joo Siah Bak Kut Teh is nearby too! Taman Jurong Food Centre is another place to look out for after a stroll at Lakeside Gardens.
Try the other porridge stall (we porridge) where you meet the guide instead if u have chance, the porridge recommended use to be good, but the quality has been not consistent recently.
You could have visited Jurong Bird Park, nobody ever goes there cos its very ulu, which is good right? Means lesser crowd and noisy kids. Its a very interesting place, many people doesn't know its the biggest bird park in the world and its going to be closed next year to move to Mandai so its definitely a good time to visit it one last time.

Yeah I burnt my tongue when I had it 2 months ago.
I second that. Normally I would eat on the spot. Tabao not nice already.
I always go to jurong for 2 food places
-Hua Xing Bah Kut Teh in the AM
347 Jurong East Ave 1, #01-171, Singapore 600347
-Zai Shun Curry fish head (i order dishes like sharks head, soup and steamed fish at this zichar stall)
253 Jurong East St 24, #01-205, Singapore 600253
If the HSR link to Malaysia was confirmed then u may need to use your passport in the future when it is fully completed..and the vibe here at jurong east will be different...sad to say this project was abolished last year or so.😥.
U shld go visit the Singapore Science Centre and the snow city. Its at Jurong East too!
Haha you could have visited Lakeside gardens since you were at Chinese Garden (it's pretty close)
Chinese Garden is Closed for renovation all route to that direction is closed .
Oh! And there is a ice skating ring at J cube that you did not explore. Haha
I'm a little late but I work in the don don donki foodcourt in Jcube and I saw you filming that day!! It was nice to see you in person
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA I LOVE HOW HE TREATS JURONG LIKE EVERY EAST-SIDER
Places in the North beyond Serangoon including Sengkang, Punggol, Yishun, Sembawang and Woodlands are also ULU. I simply can't imagine myself living in ANY of those places in Singapore.
I find the Japanese fine dining is very amazing, really considered an art. May be you can dedicate an episode on it.
I lived in Jurong all my life, its a great place. We have 5 shopping malls in Jurong East. Well 4 now, Big Box closed down. lol
Hi Ghib how are you today and I am Zack from Malaysia and nice video today
子供連れてサイエンスセンターへ行くのにこのあたりへいったなぁ。懐かしい。
確かにローカルの人しかいなかった。
So nostalgic I haven't touched Jurong in 2 years
Next time visit jurong west!! For the Joya onsen cafe next time when they open! I cant wait to see your review for it
i was waiting Uncle Jimmy appear somewhere in the video to guide you around the Jurong ... lolx
Find yourself a traditional hawker center n talk to those operators of highlights in the neighborhood
Go science centre at jurong. It's very fun. Jurong east also has the king of fried rice.
Yes!
Most hawkers operate at night after the factories shift workers are done
Brought your passport to Jurong? Asking if that was passport control?! Hahaha you're hilariously cute. And your enthusiasm is infectious!
Take the train ride to last station - Tuas Link, walk over to Raffles Marina Country Club have a nice meal and enjoy the Sunset overseeing across the strait of Johor. Not forgetting to capture the awesome view of light house and Second link bridge between Singapore and Malaysia.
If you visit Japanese Garden you can find 2 beautiful tree planted by the Japanese Emperor and the Queen.
You do not need a passport in Jurong. The closest need for a passport will be Jurong Island. But you will need more than a passport to get in. It's a top security area with live ammunition.
welcome to Jurong!
You can consider visiting Taman Jurong. Lots of delicious food.
WTK
Aww mian you should have gone to jurong lake gardens when you were at Chinese Garden!!
Jurong Hill Park, a.k.a old JTC summit beside Jurong Bird Park - you can find trees planted by many overseas VVIP in the 1970s, but, you need good stamina to climb to the top though, where you can have a good view of the whole Jurong estate 😊
it's a pagoda, a temple is a place of worship. that structure is not religious.
アイススケートリンクもあるしIMMにはアウトレットやシーフードレストランのロングビーチもありますが、Taman Jurong Hawker Centreは友人とよく行きました。あと漁港があるそうですよ😊
😂 Can go Lakeside Garden, after which go Jurong Point(Boon Lay MRT Station)
🤔 Jcube u didn't go check the to ice skating area? 😅
bahahaha. cracked me up when u got the jurong joke and passports.
Welcome to Jurong ! Jurong got alot of things!!
Zai shun curry fish head stall....must try since u already come to ulu place..don't miss this michelin recommended stall
