33:06, in case you didnt know, you get vision in forests/cities/etc. when a unit walks past it in days of ruin, so units dont have to be in a spot to give vision. This also means recons and dusters can give a lot of vision just by moving around. But basically, he was using his infantry to check if there was a unit on the city. Edit: This also explains all "weird" movements basically. Looks like you put a note on this later on xD Thats what I get for not watching the whole video before commenting.
This is one of the reason (beside Flares), that the hiding mechanic is not as strong as in the older Advance Wars and balance out that most properties can hide now. It also allows for more creative map creation, those big forest would be a pain to play against in the older games.
I absolutely love how slick this site's interface is. Like, damnnnn everything is clickable with all the info you need! AWBW could learn a thing or two from this site designwise imo Though I do wish it displayed the income and unit value without going to a submenu
i was really used to playing DoR when i started Awbw and i was also doing some zigzag to spot units in forests. about 2 games later i understood it wasn't the same mechanics 😅
I like days of ruin. My favorite part is finding that random guy in the campaign who recognized Isabella from before the apocalypse. The guy keeps saying don'cha know. Its so bizarre it keeps cracking me up. would love to hear you do the voices for that guy. The game hits a note of cringe edginess that is just amazing.
@@DeejusProductions Days of Ruin and Dark Conflict whilst the same game also have different translations beyond just names of characters. Days Of Ruin heavily injects a lot of jokes and humour that wasn't in the OG Japanese script. In Dark Conflict and apparently the OG Japanese script she just reads out the time until impact for the crash. I kind of prefer DC to DoR for this reason but DoR would definitely be more fun to watch DeeJ play.

In the Duster’s defence, it is literally like a Budget Fighter, so if your opponent has the B Copter lead, you can keep up ground pressure (by being able to get some decent ground units still on most maps) while getting a fast moving, hard to pin down, “fighter” that can also harass ground units, for about 2/3’s the cost of a fighter which could be game-changing in regards to retaking air control. It’s not a powerful unit, sure, but it is absolutely one you should *never* disregard, since it can be an incredibly useful scout in fog, can easily reach back lines with its high movement, and to its credit, even though it loses to fighters hard, it doesn’t die instantly to them (or to Anti-air) so it can also screen your other air forces quite effectively. It’s basically like the Tank of the air units, it’s not the best unit in a side by side comparison, but it’s a good multipurpose unit with just enough stats to be a good investment.
Honestly? This is one of my favorite videos you've put out! Part of what makes it enjoyable is you present yourself as really passionate and excited by the match and the mechanics of DoR, and honestly the sound effects really add a lot of flare imo. 10/10 more recon beep beeps plz
I actually knew about the HQ boarding thing because there is a trial map in DoR where you play as tasha vs greyfield and there are no airports, but some ports, so you can build carriers and then seaplanes. Since you can't board a CO on a carrier with an air unit, I tried it from the HQ and it actually worked. I really love seaplanes due to all those port only maps where they give you air superiority, unfortunately tiny wars doesn't seem to have a lot of those maps, so they probably aren't very viable due to how expensive they are
The reason Lin's super co power isn't used is that the max range day to day co zone can often more beneficial than a one time global boost that resets the range back to 1.
LOVE the AW:DOR content, currently my favourite series on RUclips (would love to see you beat Days of Ruin+ after you've done Advance Wars Returns). I was ready to say you don't need to have two units adjacent to make an attack to a hiding unit, one just needs to walk past.
I like the Fog best in DoR. Probably just because the AI doesn't cheat in this game. The way Fog is revealed (unit movement based rather than unit position based) is also how the advance wars inspired game "Wargroove" handles Fog too.
Dusters own. They're basically fighters that can harass ground units. Yes, I am making shit up, but just confidently throwing those facts out there. Also, they seem a valid counter to helicopters other than just AAs. About that drunk infantry, I believe moving it that way revealed what was on that city, and everything's moving all weird to reveal more of the fog for the turn maybe.
33:06 units keep their vision After moving, e.g if a recon move 8 tiles across the board it gets the vision of 8 recons lining up for that turn. so that infantry was “scouting” the city
it's a meme unit, not terrible but is only good against copters and transports. and I guess it's a cost effective answer to the anti tank. aside from that it's pretty mid from what I understand about the meta.
its definitely an unit that is worth its cost more so for the air CO's. Other CO's do better with Battle Copters. Tho some can argue that Forsythe also can get some mileage out of them if they fight in his CO Zone for the needed firepower boost.
I think it does a bit better in fog than standard since it's vision and movement range make it a great scout that can harass infantry while warding off copters. Good blocker too since most units can't target it. You definitely don't want a lot of them though, too expensive to spam for what they do.
@@Yuni-is-Schrodingers-Fox The Duster is not a meme unit, it is an excellent anti-copter unit for maps with lots of rivers and mountains, where AA struggles to chase copters, as well as being a good scout in FoW, thanks to its 8 movement range, 4 vision range, and its great staying power (as it needs 2 AA to take it down in one turn). It is not good against Anti-Tank though, it deals only 5 base damage against it
A new mechanic about DoR FoW is that, if a unit moves nearby hidden tiles, like forests, it WILL reveal the forests along with the open terrain in its vision range 22:50 here's an example where Plague made his 7hp infantry do a U-turn, located to the left of his CO wartank, to reveal a mech and shot it with an arty another thing i love about DoR
Plague is a great player, you should aim to watch some replays of him and sarastro. Income lead is something you focused on but for fors it does not matter all that much in the earlier stages, his insane COZ will leverage the value difference and attempt to overwhelm in earlier stages to stabilize, not having an actual power is a detriment later on.
Deejus I don't know if you know this but at 23:33 when you are looking at the Duster's stats against the fighter it does not take 80% damage on a counterattack from a fighter it takes 80% from a first-strike from a 10hp fighter. Great video though!
I dont recomend putting a CO in a wartank not only your putting a lot of money in one unit the Wartonk is a seige unit thats going to see use in the frontlines where its first to be punnished while as we see now in the CO recon its now a support unit in the backlines and still sees use by giving vision
In Tinywars, there's an option to change the tileset to look more like the GBA AWs. Think you can do a replay in it to get opinions in what would be better for replay vids? With all this new info for some people, ngl the DoR tiles are really hard to read.
