Y'know, it feels like Etsy might be allowing new accounts to open just to get that 20-cent listing fee and gather bank and credit card details, then turning around and banning those accounts permanently. It's just my take, but it's starting to look sketchy. Totally get why some of you are calling it a scam.
This is exactly the scenario for me. lol I opened my account verified everything, tax payer info and bank account info, I listed one item and two days later they suspended me permanently for no reason. No explanation no nothing. They go my 20 cents lol
Well they are low key gangsters dressed up as a corporate brand so would not suprise me! lol

this is what just happened to me. They charged me the listing fee for the one mandatory listing needed to open the shop, they didn't tell me about it, I thought it was going to be auto-billed. But when I noticed the account was suspended, there was an overdue 27 cent fee on my balance, which I promptly paid. The charge was backdated to a week BEFORE I created the account.
They won't reinstate the account, nor will they tell me why they won't. And they responded to the appeal in 1 minute after I sent it, so it was probably an auto-responder. And it was some Indian name to add insult to injury. Probably some poor sap who gets off on perma-banning new sellers for no reason.
Imagine all the profit they are getting from listing fees for accounts that they then ban forever from the platform. Those few cents add up.
@@tainaperez1426 you're not alone, same thing happened to me. Is there an alternative platform to etsy? I like the idea of selling POD items but Etsy is not an option for me anymore.

Yeah, their customer service is pretty terrible. Definitely try commenting on their LinkedIn or Twitter. They seem to have a much more responsive team on those platforms.

The most frustrating part of a suspension, is that Etsy can't tell you a specific reason why. Your account just gets thrown into some unknown review process that takes some unknown amount of time, and in the dark you are left. Why the Suspension notification can't just tell you exactly why the bot flagged your account, is utterly baffling. The bot had some reason, just freakin' tell me what the reason is. Furthermore, offer me a way to immediately remedy the suspension if it's due to a dumb-bot sweep, or some other simple oversight of rules.
This exactly; I have been suddenly perma-banned without even 1 strike or a warning. I get that they have to protect their customers and platform. But for fuck sake, all I ask for is an email that tells me what was up instead of "U broke the ToS Somewhere, and it could be 1. 2. 3. or maybe even 4. Goodluck appealing with the 0 knowledge you have"
I am a noob, a new seller, so step by step I am learning and actively improving everyday. And now? Now I just sit around with my 1.000 Thank you for your support cards, to put into orders - with my Etsy link.... And wait for the Etsy Gods to tell me my verdict...
I got suspended for no reason other than I think it might have been the 27 cent listing fee for the 1 listing they forced me to create in order to open the shop in the first place. The charge was backdated to prior to when I created the account, and I did not know it was there until I noticed the account was suspended. I paid it, but they refuse to reinstate the account and they won't tell me why. So I guess my Etsy journey is at an end even before it really started.
I'm wondering, were you able to get the funds you have left in the account before Etsy suspended your shop? What will happen to those sales?
I am a brand new store I was told I needed to submit a copy of my ID. In the process of compiling with their request I got banned. I submitted my appeal of this and was told it was permanent and irrevocable. They are either stupid, paranoid or enjoy a power rush by punishing sellers. Good thing it happened no way I want to do business with these unprofessional idiots. I'm not going to walk on eggshells all the time second guess every move be constantly paranoid the hammer my drop for any small move. They don't want my business fine.

Etsy is currently wrongfully accusing lots of sellers who make authentic handmade items for copyright infringements, this is basically the end of this platform because how can you trust them if your shop is at constant risk of being shut based on random decisions.
"Authentic handmade" can still violate copyright though. For example, if I hand painted a canvas in my own unique style but I incorporated a Disney character, I could not legally sell it. It doesn't matter if an item is handmade. If it is not an original idea, it directly violates the IP of another brand. And this isn't just against Etsy's rules. It's illegal. This may not be specifically what you're referring to but it is a common misconception. Fanart can not be sold. At all.
@@StarlaMoore Those would be copycats but people i am addressing are the ones that are being chased up on their legitimately original designs that are now being wrongfully scanned by their AI bots which has caused mass takedown sweeps on Etsy. This wouldnt have been a big issue if they just looked in to the listings they are removing but they dont because its all automated.
how can you trust a multi billion dollar website that doesn't have a customer support anyway?! If some competitor wants to create an alternative to Etsy, they will have so many people joining within minutes
So i design my own images and embroider them on hoodies. Etsy wrongful deactivates my listing. And when I do a search for keywords. I see other shops copy my images even though i watermark them. And most of the shops that copy them are from countries out of the usa. Now etsy has suspended my account permanently. I had a feeling a couple weeks prior so i made my own website. Man etsy is so biased.

This just happened to me, in under 24 hours, for no reason. Even if my appeal is successful, why would I invest my time adding listings to an Etsy store that can be randomly shut down for no reason? I'm glad I had this experience now and not after investing significant time adding inventory to the store.
The email I received after I submitted an appeal stated they could not tell me the reason I was suspended. This ridiculous response was signed with a first name so I assume it's not a bot. I'm going to spend my valuable time on an EBay store instead and I am not going to purchase anything from Etsy again. The company will not earn another dime from me. Companies that provide such insulting, dismissive and substandard service will not be rewarded with my hard earned money.
Yes! Mine was suspended after having listed two things in like 3 hours. The art work was done by me so I don't get what's going on. Pretty annoying.
you are right, but, you ebay is kinda the same, maybe they dont ban accounts so easy, but they can shadowban them after nosense strikes.

happened to me too. And it annoys me that they don't say why. Come on, at least tell me why.
Etsy banned me too before my first sale. No reason. Then I waited 2 weeks for a response from them just to tell me they cant tell me why and that they wont be reinstating my account after 'careful consideration'... Absolute amateur unprofessional idiotic platform and service. They also banked my funds I spent on my initial listings. Pure theft if you ask me. I am already contacting my lawyer.
Is there another platform sellers can use other than Etsy or should they just get their own websites? I think everyone should file a class action lawsuit against the company for millions of dollars and Etsy needs to undergo a business and financial audit.
I have my own website and use Etsy to organize my prints from my print on demand partner. If I put them directly into my website my website becomes terribly disorganized and cluttered since every product comes in as a separate listing, not variations on my original art pieces, so I use Etsy as a back end so my website looks nice. Now Etsy suspended my account, apparently for inquiring to other sellers to buy a custom piece of glass for jewelry (nothing NSFW or questionable). I wish I could find another platform to host my print on demand components. I make original artwork but like to offer more affordable prints. Oh well.
My shop was just suspended two days after opening it. I never received an email explaining what I did wrong. I filed an appeal but I’m starting to think twice about selling on this platform. 🙁
My account is permanently suspended because my ID photo was not seen as a good enough quality. It looked perfect to me but no idea why. 5 years of being a 5 star seller and it was taken away in an instant. Very very sad.
No customer support or help, no replies to emails and appeals. Been trying to get it back since January.

I am so mad with Etsy! I was suspended, made an appeal because I never received any communication. Then I found out it was because of the plaid thing. However, I already made the contact via appeal. That rep decided to permanently ban my shop with no reason. I am aggravated.
these big companies dont care at all, dont think you are the only one, they dont even read those appeals and permaban without proper reason

I just got an email that my shop was suspended which was shocking because I had just opened it and only had two tiny hand made paintings in it. I emailed back an appeal but gif a return email saying my shop was permanently suspended. For what?? I’m so confused as what I did wrong. Very unfair and painful. We should at least get an explanation.

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. Made and listed one fully unique handmade item. Sold it, and immediately my shop was permanently suspended and appeal was denied. No explanation, no courtesy, no HUMAN interaction. I'm heartbroken over it. Honestly I just want to be able to buy products on the platform to support my friends' businesses but now I can't even do that.

I have a store on Etsy in French, and when I sent a message to the support team, I received an answer in English that has nothing to do with the message I sent. An automatic answer from an Indian person who does not understand French and does not want to make any effort other than clicking on the automatic answer button. How can a global company like Etsy do this? It is an unfortunate thing to employ people who are of poor standard and who are irresponsible towards their work. They are looking for cheap labor whose standard is bad and low, and in return they deduct from you many, many fees.
My Etsy shop was permanently suspended for no reason. They have not contacted me. I have appealed 4 times. All items had been shipped. Account balance was up to date - in fact they owe me money. It's been 6 weeks. Ive received automated emails that I reply to and get a rate support email a few hours later with no action done. What gets me is the reply that includes "Since you wrote to us, you may have already resolved your issue. If so, there's no need to respond to this email or take any further action." Ummmmmm. Permanently means I cannot do anything.... the system is so flawed.

I set up a shop, listed 2 items and have no been permanently banned for no reason at all. I've watched the video and none of the reasons above apply to me. Etsy won't even give me a reason other than to say u violated something, I'm furious, an explanation wouldn't be a bad idea would it
It’s time for Etsy to have a competitor site. And on the copyright and trademark, I had completely original art but some other seller contacted them and said they owned it. I got the email and contacted them but their email was a friggin yahoo account and the website they claimed to be from was a $1 Shopify e-commerce store that was parked but Etsy would not hear anything I had to say.
My account got suspended today.. one of video has just gone viral on TikTok.. and I got my first sales.. and this morning I wake up and it’s permanently suspended.. and I have no idea why… I mean it ridiculous that they don’t give you a reason….

Good luck! And stick with it! Sometimes, it takes messaging multiple times. If you get an email saying that the case is close, email again and ask for a manual reviews. Remember to keep your emails polite and short and to the point.
Excellent, essential information for all Etsy sellers. Luckily my shop was not suspended, but back when I was still new to Etsy several of my handmade Sanrio themed fabric coin pouches were taken down suddenly by them. They sent me an email to explain about copyright infringement. Since that incident I just avoid selling anything that is licensed.
I think most new sellers make this mistake. I did when I was 19 years old and brand new to business. The issue is, some sellers know what they are doing wrong but they continue to attempt to skirt the rules with the assumption that they will never be caught. Then they get super upset when their IP is banned from Etsy. Correcting mistakes is an essential part of growth. 💛

there is no chance for appeal anymore, I don't believe any appeals are ever approved given that my appeal was denied after a grand total of 1 minute after I submitted it

The weirdest thing I see with Etsy is that although we can't sell anything that promises a metaphysical outcome, Etsy still has "metaphysical crystals" as a category. I tried to have a conversation with them about it, but they simply responded that it says in the seller handbook that you can't promise a metaphysical outcome. Anyway. lol Thanks for all the great help you provide. My sales are way up this year thanks to you!
Yeah, I've always found it odd. You can list within their pre-determined "metaphysical" attribute, but from what I understand, you cannot tie metaphysical products to a medical-related outcome. For example, you CAN sell a crystal, but you cannot say, "This crystal promotes healthy sleep".
What do you do when Etsy never sends an email regarding why your account was suspended, and your appeal is responded to by an AI? Ive been trying to get in touch with the help desk but I cant get a response from anyone :/ (Ive had to shop since 2022)
Wow. I came on here looking for answers. Apparently the answer is to stay off of Etsy. I also got suspended. Here's the kicker, I hadn't even opened up shop. I was in the process of filling out details as per the video I was following. Literally it was maybe day 2 of working on it. Suddenly I get a message that my account is suspended. Went to see if there was an email, but there was none. No reason, just suspended. I appealed and they said after careful consideration my account did not qualify for reinstatement. So, someone 'supposedly' carefully considered the facts of my situation (a shop that is in the process of being put together)and felt that somehow I don't deserve an Etsy shop. Seriously? EFF ETSY. I will shout that out loud and strong anywhere I can. I've seen other similar stories. I'm sure something new and better will come along and if they continue to be indifferent to these stories, Etsy will go the way of MySpace and others. Good riddance. Stay strong and stay free.

Filed an appeal and got a response. They didn't' say why or the reason i was being suspended. Furthermore, they said that after careful analysis of my store they would NOT revert the decision.
I simply can't understand why.

Awesome.. so i opened a shop, did nothing that mentioned above and at the second week, Etsy closed the shop without explanation.. with option i can appeal..but why? Never knew the cause of suspension and then appeal dismissed, shop permanently suspended... still no reason, no cause, no explanation.. Etsy is terrible at least.... and it is happenend with more than a dozen of the people i know...
Of course we are not selling stickers and ragdolls... P.S.: i saw people selling curses or love spells on Etsy... ehm...
Hello! I found this video because I've been trying to open an Esty shop, and yesterday, just after getting a few products up without even finishing my shop and opening it to the public, it got suspended. It was before I even got to the step of "how you'll get paid" so I never connected Plaid with my bank yet because I wasn't on that step yet. So I'm guessing my best bet is to contact Etsy but do I do that by appealing the suspension or is there another way?

That's fine, but there is nothing wrong with my account except that it has been hacked. So they probably closed his IP address, and as a result, mine too. How can I get in touch with them? I had an order placed through my account, but the buyer used their own card and address, but, and here's the most confusing part, there were no logins that day on my account (from me either, since I was at a family event) even though it was placed through my account. It was pretty scary to see my account suspended, but it was all an accident. I'm still beyond confused by it, though.

My shop just got suspended and I have no idea why. Just started a few months ago and not gaining any traction, finally got a Christmas ornament that was trending and got 10 sales in the last few days and boom I’m suspended!! Email they sent didn’t tell me why, I filed an appeal and said I have no idea why I was suspended, and got a reply basically saying sorry you’re permanently suspended, not telling you why, and we won’t respond to any more questions! I’m literally heartbroken! I know for a fact I didn’t do anything wrong, everything is original POD designs, no trademarks. No clue what to do now!
You'll need to go into the backend of your shop (your shop manager page) and click the "Contact" tab. Then navigate through their menus until you have the option to email them. Some sellers have a live support button in the bottom right corner of their shop manager page, but I personally do not. If you don't have the live chat option, email is the best method.
From there, you'll need to message them and ask for a manual review. You absolutely have to keep this email short. Otherwise, they will not read it. Let them know that your shop was mistakenly suspended, that you have not violated any of their policies, and that your orders are all up to date.
Etsy may send you an email stating that they've chosen to permanently suspend your shop after you contact them. Ignore this message and keep reaching out if this happens. This automated message was sent to SEVERAL of my students, and after continuing to reach out, their accounts were restored.
Etsy has a lot of internal issues going on right now. It's extremely frustrating. Good luck! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions.

Spent tons of hours on a product, finally finished and put the item for sale before spends another several hours setting up my shop just to be suspended with no clarification, and no email just as I was setting up the banner I just made. :/

I love this ... no matter how much you complain the laws aren't going to change! I only had two patterns removed before I learnt to just make my own art not anything fan art despite it often selling better than my own stuff.

I woke up to my store suspended as a new seller. No email or warning & no idea why. I put together a couple shirts from printify just to get the store open. I'm from Alaska and they were just animals with Alaska underneath. But one was a Salmon & said Fish On. In the process of hours of trying to figure out what possibly could be the reason I looked up fish on only to be shocked that it's trademarked. We say it all the time when fishing so others don't get their lines tangled. I never would've used it had I known. Is there anyway for me to get my store restored or find out what the issue was. If not does a permanent ban prevent me from opening a new store. Signed frustrated in Alaska
So if someone is hand making cosplay costumes of video game characters will get shops taken down? I was in the process of almost paying $1,700 for a cosplay for Halloween and today I went to go to their lists to see if shipping is included... and all of their listings are gone. Suspicious?
I recently opened a second shop and it got shut down within 1 week. After watching your video I now realise it may have been shut down as I have a product listed in both shops. Is there any chance I can get the shop back if I remove the item from the other shop? Its frustrating if this is the reason as all they had to do is tell me to remove listings from one of the shops instead of closing it down without giving me the reason.
Hey, I sell plants and I’ve just heard that there’s a such a thing as plant patents and trademarks, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to find out which plants are protected under those. The US website that you’re supposed to go to doesn’t have a search feature that is easy to use and it’s just not coming up with anything so now I’m afraid that I’m selling plants that might have patents

You said that ETSY doesn't allow metaphysical claims or products? But I have seen a lot of them on there like magic spells and subliminals, so I am wondering how they are still on ETSY?
The simple answer is that they haven't been caught yet and will likely be shut down eventually.

Lol, I think I'm double-banned. I didn't take the 'ban with no reason' very well. In my defense, I don't care much if they want me or not, so I didn't hold back, and I burned that bridge really well. Because in the end, they sent a message that read something like, 'You can't make any more stores, you can't ever sell on Etsy. Horrible first experience!
I had mine suspended probably years ago but never noticed because I haven’t used the shop in years. Went I went back now it is saying I am suspended but I have connected through plaid, do not owe anything - and if I go to the appeal link it says I have nothing that would constitute an appeal. I reach out to support - which was hard to locate a direct contact for - but they haven’t gotten back with me. I really would like to get started again in earnest!!

Hello, I can the issue that am a temporary resident and I could not finish the process of opening my store in the country of my temporary residence because I do not have a photo ID that they consider official. So I am stuck between not being able to put my current residence and perhaps I will have to opt to use the location of my nationality?

Set my shop up got ready to list my first products got suspended before i even started. Would not tell me the reason why....
Hi Starla, I found you through Brand Creators. After 7 years my highly successful Star Seller shop was deactivated, as my Etsy account was suspended Monday without notice. I have/had 2 shops. One was a licensed brand with only the brand's items. Those items are also for sale in my original shop. I had no clue Monday why I was suddenly suspended so my appeal was garbage since I had no leg to stand on. 24 hours later got a decline that my suspension would not be reversed. I STILL was provided no reason for my suspension. I emailed "support" and of course have not heard back yet. What do you recommend?

My advice-keep your message short, clear, and concise and be polite. Remember the person reading it is an employee of Etsy, not the one deactivating shops.
Hello. I recently had a few listing be deactivated without getting any email explaining why. So I messaged Etsy and got responded saying that they were temporarily reviewing my listing and they are now active again. They also said they will make sure this issue doesn’t occur again in the future. So I thought everything was fine since I wasn’t told I needed to do anything and everything is reactivated. Then a week later I got suspended. When I asked why they told me that those items don’t comply with Etsy. I feel like I got whip lash. I filed an appeal explains that I already had the review and it gave the impression that things where fine. Within minutes I got rejected because I was “warned”. This feels extremely unfair and I was mislead. I spent years building my business and now idk what to do. Is there anything I can do?
With such inconveniences, I think I will open shop elsewhere.
Non US seller here. My new account got permanently suspended. Only one listing- a digital download coloring pages which took me around 3 months to create. Original designs.
I filed for an apppeal, and received another rejection after a week. They refused to reinstate my shop after consideration. I can't reappeal for the 3rd for now.
Interestingly, my buyer account is doing fine atm. I still can puchase their items with same IP address.

Hello Starla, a year ago I opened a store on Etsy and I was breaking the rules because of my ignorance of the rules of Etsy. After a while I opened a new store and it got a Suspend immediately. After 14 days they opened the account and said that by mistake this happened to Susband, and I started working carefully and did not violate any Rules and now, but the account stopped again, and I insist that it was because of the IP. Is there a reason to worry, or is this a terrible thing, and the account will not return, knowing that I told them everything that happened to me previously and now
There's really no way to know without contacting Etsy directly. You'll need to speak to them and ask them to reactivate your shop.
I appreciate the info in this video. Just opened my new Etsy store and was suspended within the first few days before I had a chance to list anything. My bank information says verified. I filed an appeal and am now at the two week mark. I haven't received any emails from support other than the automated we'll get back to you within two weeks. I guess I'm going to try the call back option next? It's the waiting that gets me.
Message them on LinkedIn. They seem to have a totally different support team there and I've always had great luck with getting help. Just be short in your message and polite because they'll ignore you if they don't want to deal with your message. Ask me how I know. 😂

Hello Stella, Etsy put an paiement reserve on my shop since February. They demand that I shipped with tracking number, which cost 15$ minimum in Canada. At that price it is impossible to offer free shipping. NO tracking cost only 2.27$, it's a big gap. Do you think they put a reserve paiement to force us to used tracking? Payment reserves are placed on accounts for 45 days if valid tracking is not provided. Unfortunately I don't feel that a video on this topic is necessary, as there is nothing that can be done about it, nor is there really advice I can offer. These are Etsy's rules and there are no ways around them. Payment reserves were put into place by Etsy in order to protect buyers after a large number of "fake shops" popped up on Etsy during the pandemic. These shops would make sales then never ship anything. So it was a way to prevent buyers from being scammed.
My only advice is to wait out the reserve or incorporate your shipping cost into your total item price.

dont worry , even if you ship it with tracking they dont care, since you have to use one of the carriers they selected, not all are supported for tracking.
Same here. Brand new shop. All POD from Printify. Permanent ban. Appeal denied. Did not break any rules. I have no idea why and they won't tell me. Read the TOS. Watched the video above and the only thing that could be a possibility is the VA I hired, who has my login, but was not actually working on my Etsy account. If someone they don't like logged into my account, seems Esty would just say so?
Just a little FYI for you. I recently opened up an Etsy store. My store was closed in two days. I didn’t do anything wrong. I followed all the rules, and I made sure everything was filled out properly. Emailed them and their response was they permanently shut my store. Totally unfair.

I made an account. I verified my banking info. My account was immediatly temporarily suspended, and as of today is permanently suspended. I have not received a single email or contact of any kind throughout this entire process (excluding the "verify email" during the sign up) and have no means to contact etsy or do anything whatsoever regarding this.
Update: Permanent suspension upheld with no reason given for why the suspension occurred and no further possibility for appeal. Permanently and irrevocably banned from Etsy without any explanation.
For clarification on the location reason are you saying if I am in OH but am a POD store I should still fill in the ship zip code as OH even though I’m not shipping from here? And if yes would it be a red flag to be suspended now if I did that wrong 😮?
When you start your shop, you're asked to fill out your country of residence. This is where you would need to state that you're in Ohio. For shipping, as long as you've selected that you work with a print provider, your shipping location can differ from your actual account location.
In re of what Starla stated... "initially fill out your country of residence"... you can actually edit it later and Not show your location in your storefront. In Shop manager, down bottom where shop name is...click "Pencil icon" and edit from there. With the add POD Production Partner section.. you put the PODs zip code etc there.. but you have a choice if you want to show the PODs address/postcode or just a sentence like..." POD co that makes my Canvas Art".
Out of curiosity, a customer asked if I could make a sale to them off platform since Etsy was saying I wasn't able to ship to their country even though in my shipping settings I don't have any countries disabled, and USPS definitely does service that country. Do you think that would still be against the rules to not direct sales off platform?
Technically it would. I would attempt to reach out to Etsy about this if I were you, just in case it's a bug on their end.

I made thousands of sales on Etsy, and 5 days ago they shut down all of my shops without any warning. Top on that, I am not able to log in any of my accounts by today. Plaid isn't technically "your own website". It's your Etsy shop with a different face. Since Plaid IS your Etsy shop, it's okay to add a link to Plaid.
Hi Starla. I had some listing deactivated. I said an item was sealed in FDA approved instead of FDA compliant resin. I corrected the wording but etsy says they can't reactivate my listings What can I do to resist my items

The few times my shop has been suspended has been because I didn't have the money to pay the shop fees. With a crochet shop, sometimes sales are few and far between and money is tight. I am moving away from one of a kind items and into stuff that can be recreated over and over. I need best selling listings. 🤦♀️🤷♀️

Seems to me that it would be far more professional for Etsy to give a warning of possible suspension unless such and such is rectified within a certain time frame, if suspending an account actually GIVE A REASON beyond possible "suspicious activity," and have agents ready and available to rectify wrongful suspensions. I opened a shop, took time and effort to understanding how it all works and how to follow correct procedures, got spammed daily by bots pretending to be Etsy support, then got my account suspended with no reason given.
I’ve had an Etsy account since 2009. They suspended me for no reason now I’m stuck with 600+ items online with them and hundreds of items to list. It’s been days since I put a new cc in for payment and it isn’t taking it. It still says it’s not a good visa and it it.
I was suspended after a full week of launching my Etsy store because I had a $5 negative balance. I couldn't find a way to pay it. I had auto billing setup (they should have used my card on file right?). The way I paid it was to disable auto billing and re-enable it to get an option to pay the balance. I was told as soon as I did that my account would be unsuspended within an hour. After 24 hours passed, I filed an appeal. Response to appeal--it could take 14 days to investigate. It's frustrating that Etsy doesn't indicate what else could be the issue so it can be resolved.
Reason #5 got my shop suspended but I got it reinstated. However, ALL my listings have been deactivated by Etsy (with that message in red under them) and I can’t select them and reactivate them no matter what I do. Customer service and looking it up has done nothing for me. Any idea what I should do?
All you can do is wait for customer service to get back with you. Don't give up though! Keep messaging them every day requesting updates.

If your second shop is shut down, your 1st shop should not be affected unless it is suspended permanently.

Some multi-6figure Etsy sellers recommend not using commas or anything to separate keywords is this allowed? I know it’s recommended to separate in the title but is it against Etsy policy?
Just because a six figure seller says it, it doesn't mean that the advice is true. While you can technically craft your titles any way that you want (definitely not against Etsy's policies), there's absolutely no evidence to support the idea of not using commas. If they are recommending this, it is based on anecdotal evidence from their own shops, which is not scientifically conclusive and directly contradicts Etsy's best practices. It does not break their terms but it there's also no reason not to unless you're crafting your titles as short descriptive sentences. If the shop is fully closed, I assume it wouldn't matter. You can always contact Etsy for verification though if you're worried.

Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to help. Contacting Etsy is the only way to get your shop recovered, and I do not work for Etsy.

Starla, what if I had multiple bestselling designs on etsy stolen, put up on a number of freestanding websites (appear to be based in China), then those sellers come in and file an etsy infringement against me (even though it's my design they copied)? Have you heard of this happening and what to do if it does?
Unfortunately the only thing you can do is reach out to Etsy support. It absolutely happens but Etsy support is your only route to get help. Just be sure to provide sufficient evidence when reaching out to prove that you are the original creator of the items, such as the original listed date, any photos you have of yourself designing the products, etc.
Best to email or cloud yourself and trusted family/friends the pictures/vids/audio( keep project files with the layers to yourself), etc showing proof of the process, private uploads showing work in progress on social media/youtube etc. That way everything is dated and made public or shared private link if needed. Try to do this at least a month before you list, if someone steals your newly listed work you want your proof of date to be much older to remove any doubt to who is the original creator.
There are easy ways to reverse engineer/paint pictures and add layers in a project file to make it seem genuine...Specially these days with AI learning to do actual brush strokes and color picking to match a target image, complete with time lapse info/video. AI can do anything and then some with ease, generating proof of creation/ownership is not out of its capabilities.
Also you may want to take some footage of yourself working on parts of a project and live stream it.
Hi Starla 💕 how many copy right strikes can a person get. For one of my shirt designs, I made so many other sellers stole it, and even my listing photos were used. This one particular shop has stolen my designs twice already, and I filed a copyright claim against them each time. Now, this particular seller even started following my shop. I just want their shop closed.
At one time, Etsy had a "three strikes, you're out" policy. But I do not believe this is clearly stated anywhere today. I've seen some shops get shut down right away. I've seen some require multiple shops before being taken down. Here's everything I was able to find.

I was suspended "for no reason". I watched the whole video and none of the other reasons apply to me. This is a new shop with no sales, listings, or any actions other than setting it up from my home and verifying my bank. I filed an appeal twice, each time with no contact back from Etsy. My account just eventually goes back to suspended allowing me to file an appeal again. Any suggestions? I've sent multiple contacts to Etsy and they never reply. (It's been 6 weeks now total)

I recently got a copyright notice from them right after i listed some sasha animal crossing phone wallpapers i made. Im confused cause other people have animal.crossing wallpapers to. Idk if its cause i used the word nintendo in my title, discription or tags? Or is it cause i put sashas name on the wallpaper or used his pic? Remember: Just because other people are doing it, it doesn't mean t's legal. Your neighbor could be doing drugs in his basement, but it doesn't mean he's doing it legally, nor does it mean that he'll never be caught. Everything you stated can get you in trouble, including the designs/images, as well as the keywords related to Animal Crossing. Nintendo is FIERCE when it comes to protection of their IP. You don't need to reach out to them and you likely won't be sued. Just remove the listings from your shop and pivot to designs that don't utilize popular characters. 🙂

Unfortunately I've been hearing about it happen much more frequently. My biggest piece of advice is to keep politely messaging them for updates (they will ignore you otherwise) and don't be afraid to message them every day.

Yeah, unfortunately it's totally normal to have a new shop suspended right away. Just contact Etsy and politely ask them to reopen your shop so you can begin selling and they should reactivate your account relatively fast. I believe it only took about a day for my account to be reactivated.
In terms of all the "experts" messaging you - mark them as spam. Any real expert does not need to rely on crappy cold-calling tactics to generate clients and fake "gurus" and Etsy coaches have been at an all-time high this year. Hi Starla, I opened my shop on Etsy in March and I've completed my first order in mid-March but I still have not received any money from Etsy and the available amount for deposit remains 0. I contacted Etsy support regarding this issue but they responded to me that my account has been permanently suspended for violation of their policies. They haven't addressed my question and I feel like I won't be able to get my money back. I have already submitted an appeal, but I'm worried that if my appeal is unsuccessful I will never get back my money. What should I do?
Etsy cannot legally keep your money and I believe their policies state that if your account is shut down, they will ensure you're paid out before total deactivation. If you're struggling to reach them, try contacting the on LinkedIn.

(Same as on my bank account.) So Etsy suspensed my account, and have made the decision to not re-open. Hello! I plan to open up my shop soon, but I don't want to use my personal address for safety reasons. Based on advice from other sellers, I'd like to use a physical, virtual address instead. Would doing so still be okay?
Unfortunately I don't think so. Opening a business is a legal process, even on a platform like Etsy. If you're planning to open a print on demand business, your customers never have to know your physical address. But I believe that you must provide your address to Etsy for tax and legal purposes.

No one can see your address on Etsy... its only for business / bank details that is in your account that only you or Etsy has access to. Its not like Facebook where your business address is shown etc... on your FB Page. My profile pic/name is just my first name and basically customers only see Etsy store name, your about section and whatever you wrote in your Bio Profile.

Hi Starla, as a seller who got suspended twice when i started my shop (without any reason given, they just unsuspended my shop twice), i'm still very nervous about getting a new suspension ( l'm 15 months in now). I’m a European POD seller, who gets everything printed in the USA. I filled my address and country correctly when i opened my store; and i use regular internet ( no VPN to hide my location). Still, I’m torn which country to show on my storefront, next to my shop logo. If i fill Belgium, European customers will be mislead, thinking they buy from a EU shop and be upset when they have to pay custom duties ( an acquaintance of me had that problem); and US buyers will be turned off because of overseas shipping. If i fill United States, which is the actual country where all my stuff gets printed and shipped, then I’m afraid i'm breaking Etsy's rules. I have all my production partners listed, and correct shipping profiles. In a facebook group a member asked somebody from Etsy, and they said it's allowed to put the country of your POD in the storefront, but still really nervous about this. Do you know this is true? I would love to just erase the country next to my logo, but it's not possible anymore once you filled it……
From what I understand, you must list your actual country as your business location. I would recommend adding a photo to each of your listings with a brief explanation about where your products ship from, as this would help to ease any buyer confusion.
It's also important to note that in a recent survey we hosted at eRank from real Etsy shoppers, most said that shopping from international sellers is not a turn-off: ruclips.net/video/cv0ajvI48hQ/видео.html
So I wouldn't stress too much about having your location listed. Especially since US shoppers will see a much shorter processing time listed.

She said i could choose my location, but for shipping matters, i'll choose best the place where i ship my items from. So i have set my location to the USA and took a screenshot from the conversation if there would be future issues.

Unfortunately I cannot give any solutions other than what I've offered in this video. It sounds as if you've received a permanent ban, and typically Etsy will not speak to you or consider your appeal at all if you've received a permanent suspension. Your only option is to attempt to reach out to Etsy on a platform like LinkedIn or Twitter, but even then, there are no guarantees.
I just got the same email - permanently suspended for violating Etsy's Terms Of Use. After appealing it still said the same. After watching this video, I may only see some similarities to shilling, as my husband did bought some custom portraits from me and left reviews (like 5 months ago), but he did it with his own information, bought it legally on Etsy to support me at the beginning, to leave reviews. I had 12 sales, with 7 reviews in total. Recently I deleted some old listings, and added 3 new listings like 4 days ago. And today BAM. It's actually really frustrating..

If you're currently on a payment reserve, I'm actually not sure. Etsy WILL still pay you if you're owed. But time frames may vary depending on if you've received a permanent ban (you wont be able to login at all if you're banned), if you've been temporarily suspended (you'll still be able to login but you will see a big red suspension notice at the top of your shop), and if you were on a payment reserve at the point of either suspension. You'll need to speak to Etsy directly to clarify though, as only they will be able to answer your specific question.
i got suspended because it is the third time i use of medical terms in my listings. it 's very difficult to sell cosmectics without explaining what it is, besides it seem that every word is a medical term, i think if i open my shop again i will not describe the product at all. it will be more secure

"Metaphysical services, such as reiki and spell casting, are prohibited on Etsy. With this in mind, tarot or psychic readings that include a physical or digital copy of said readings (e.g., a recording, email, or tarot spread photo) may be sold on Etsy.
Supplies related to spell work, such as herbs, crystals, candles, and tinctures, may be sold on Etsy as long as they are not listed with metaphysical claims."

I set up a shop. I didn't even get to do anything in it, and it was suspended within less than 24 hours. I followed the appeal process, and I was denied by a random foreign-sounding Zendesk Etsy rep less than a minute after submission with the statement basically saying they don't have to explain why I was suspended or why they denied my appeal, and they don't have to respond to this case any longer. BTW, they took my $15 set-up fee and ran with it, and I have yet to hear back from anyone. I can't tell you how many videos I've seen on RUclips and the amount of comments from others who have had this exact thing happen to them recently. It's all automated. There's no human reviewing these cases within 2 weeks like it states. UPDATE: It's been 14 days since my Etsy shop was initially suspended, and I filed an appeal. Today, I went in to check things, and they have been re-suspended, so I have to appeal again. All my open cases are marked "resolved." They didn't have a human review in 14 days and the process starts all over again. I'm stuck in Etsy Automation HELL!!!!
I'm currently in communication with Etsy's head of customer support as we speak! Today he requested a list of sellers in my community who have been wrongfully suspended/had appeals denied. @@StarlaMoore Wow, how did you manage that? After posting a complaint on one of Etsy's LinkedIn posts, I finally got mine up and running. That's awesome if you can get them to do something different. There are so many videos out there about suspensions, and there are so many people sharing their difficulties. Good luck, and keep us posted please :)
