    I just want to say thank you for inspiring me to list. I've procrastinated but love to thrift and source. I honestly think it was a Godwink that I found your channel. Why not do what I have a passion for? I currently have some extra time and tend to buy some of the same types of items you do but you've also taught me a lot about hot sellers, top dollar you would pay for an item and I like the clean look of your photos. Thank you for sharing about not offering free shipping to international buyers because I was looking for advice on this and wondering how you could make it financially if you did this. You answered my question on that and I thought this was a wonderful video. I really have had fun watching you the last week and look forward to getting more tips. I've probably annoyed my hubby with my newfound energy and excitement. I appreciate you and love your humor, preparedness and style! Really love your wall of brightly colored art! Thanks again!

    I sell around 10 items a week on Etsy, I am in Canada and sell items typically in the $30 to $300 range. The fees are not 10%, more like 15% to 18% when you add them all up and the worst part is when an item sells from an off site ad and then the fees can by 30-40% ! Recently sold a $59 item and with off site fees, they took $28 in fees. I wish the fees were only 10% !

    Love your channel - Maybe I missed it but I think you may have forgotten to mention the surprise 12% charge Etsy levels if your vintage item is sold via onsite ads. This infuriating rule can make a dent in the profit of a vintage sale, especially if you have turned "make an offer" on and accepted less. I do well-selling vintage on Etsy -- so I play the averages - if only 5% of my sales get this additional charge then it really isn't that much overall -- however when you look at an item that gets charged this fee then the bite they take is over 18% and that does not include the processing fee which is about 3% - and don't forget that if the item has been on a while you are paying 20 cent relisting fee every 4 months -- if you have 500 items on - that can add up...

    • @Mermaidlaughing
      @Mermaidlaughing 10 месяцев назад +1

      You can turn off the marketing ads if you make under, I believe its, $20,000 a year. So I guess it's a decision between more sales because of ads or not letting them advertise for you because of the 12%.

    I just started reselling and most of my sales have been on FB Marketplace and they are things I have made very little profit on because I am selling against others that have their prices really low. I tried opening an Etsy shop and it was overwhelming, as you said. I thought it was daunting to have to fill out so many fields to list one thing. So I have kind of let that hold me back from using Etsy. I think, after this, I will give it another really concerted try. Thanks Andi!

    • @AllPutTogether
      @AllPutTogether  5 месяцев назад

      It can take time to get into a groove as a reseller and make the return you want. On Etsy, I actually don’t fill in all the fields, just what is required because I’m overwhelmed by all the the questions too!

    Thank you so much for sharing your great tips. I would love to hear your thoughts on paying for Etsy ads. I’m not understanding the benefit of ads if you have one of kind items since you don’t benefit from the traffic of shops with multiple quantities on the same items. I searched and searched and no one in vintage has addressed Etsy ads. Would love for you to do an episode on this topic. Thanks!

    • @AllPutTogether

      Ads are tricky because in most cases (Etsy or otherwise online), they are a waste of money. If you have some extra budget, I would put the money toward a cross-listing tool or hire someone to bolster social media for you.

    I don't offer free shipping on Etsy, and I do very well. I don't think the free shipping is a must anymore in my opinion. I also find it infuriating that none of the commercials feature vintage at all. Why? Half the site is vintage!. Etsy needs to advertise this, why are they not doing this?

    Andi ☀️ thank you for this very informative and helpful video. I'm reading in the comments about people saying there is a higher fee for offside referral? I think I can do everything except the listing part. I have no problem describing an item I don't need a i. Do you use an iPhone for your pictures? I am going to research your other links but I still have questions on how much inventory do you need to start out with? How much inventory do you need to keep putting in daily? weekly?monthly?
    How much money 💰 did you need to start your business? What do you spend the most on other than inventory? It would be good if you did a live RUclips. Only one. That way you could read the screen answer the questions directly as we are asking them. Food for thought 💭 love you & your videos❤

    • @AllPutTogether
      @AllPutTogether  4 месяца назад +1

      A live would be fun!! I will keep that in mind. I use my iPhone for photos and take them against a white wall. In terms of how much inventory, my buying is really budget driven. So that’s what I tell people to consider. That being said, I do add about 10-15 new items a week to Etsy. I sell things quickly so for newbies, I would say just add a few things each week and the build to more and more sells. But you should at least launch with around 30 items.

    Had 27,000 sales on Etsy and the free shipping killed my business. It was a slow death lol. I was selling handmade so it was bad all around for everyone. That and inflation. I started reselling vintage on eBay and prefer them because of this alone. Even with the higher fees.

      @@sacredrebelandhersalamande8386 Have to take into account time, materials, etc, etc. You do free shipping obviously you have to add that fee into your total price. I understand because it also has to do with the psychology of including shipping and not including shipping. I much prefer looking at a price and knowing the total without having to do the math myself.

    Great video as always. I have been selling on EBay for 10 years and their fees are getting absurd. I pay a monthly store fee in addition to 20% on jewelry sales. Making a profit is becoming impossible. I am considering Etsy either in addition to or in place of eBay but need to do more research so this video was very helpful. • @AllPutTogether
      @AllPutTogether  Месяц назад

      Yes, having a large social media following and RUclips channel certainly helps sales considerably. However, that being said, Etsy still drives half the traffic to my shop, so not all sales are due to social media/YT. Like all methods of selling (online, store, market), you need to supplement with your own marketing. But I have friends who sell on Etsy that don't really do anything to promote their shop externally and have decent sales. But they do have lovely branding, photos and product.
