Arthur Esclamada Oh, from that era, I’m not surprised. 03-06 Navigator used the cheapest leather, cheapest plastic and had garbage electronics. I had the opportunity to drive an Expedition for a few weeks. I had expectations of a big, heavy, boring vehicle, but it was quite the contrary. I truly enjoyed it very much. Lots of power, very quiet, smooth ride and very comfortable seats. The independent rear suspension made the ride much better than an F-150. They can haul lots of cargo, lots of people and can tow heavy loads. Combine that with the shorter version that made it easy to park and maneuver and it was a very impressive vehicle. They don't get the credit they deserve for being so capable. The attention always goes to the pickup trucks.
@@paulbram2 This is coming from a 50 year of experience with SHITY GM cars. If you want to live the rest of your life headache and trouble free , steer a way from any American/European cars at all! Stick with Toyota/Lexus and you will live happily forever. I had an expedition as a rental when my pickup was getting body work done a few months ago. Didn't like it. Steering was twitchy. You had to hold on tight because if you lets go or let your grip loose it would snap back to the center real quick when turning or changing lanes. Felt like it was spring loaded. Took some practice to make smooth turns and lane changes. The transmission hunted gears also, and it always shocked the hell out of me everytime I got out. The worst part was when I went to pass a slow car on a 2 lane road. I hit the gas, there was a bang followed by clicking/grinding and a bunch of warning messages on the dash. Looked like a Christmas tree. Aside from being a little quicker, our sequoia drove better and never had any of the quirks and errors the expedition had. Not to mention the 3rd row seats in the expedition wouldnt fold unless the 2nd row was upright. Even if they were slightly reclined they didn't work. Also dodnt have this problem with the sequoia. In town the fuel economy was about the same, but on the hwy the expedition averaged about 2mpg better than our sequoia, but that was negligible for the peace of mind and better steering in the sequoia. I had actually considered looking at an expedition but that rental changed that.

this is cause they really don't know about vehicles. they are just presenters. i realized this a while ago when he didn't even know what a control arm looked like.
@@jasonhansen6632 unfortunately that's incorrect. LX570 has low pressure hydraulic system called Automatic Height Control (AHC). The Land Cruiser has conventional suspension with kdss
Fun video. But anyone who knows SUVs knows that Toyota products are amongst the best off road. Even with AT tires. If you need more space in a Toyota get a Sequoia.
Greg Kittle Toyota isn’t really into trucks as much as The Big Three are. Toyota’s are usually in last place when it comes to towing capability. They don’t innovate as much in those areas because they don’t need to, people buy Toyota’s for their “reliability and dependability.”
I have owned 3 LX570s, 1 LX470, I put about 350000 miles between them and I had 0 issues. - Zero been to 5000k cross country trips in crazy rains and snow storms. Mountain biking in the mountains where are no roads, The Lx has never let me down
Lmao obviously you don’t know cars and just listen to the magazines, expeditions are usually pretty reliable and I see plenty of first gens on the road 🤷🏽♂️ we had a 97 and it went to 270k before we finally traded up
chancelor massey nobody is saying that the ford is unreliable. they're just saying that the lexus is going to last longer in the long run. nothing wrong with the ford, just toyota has built the LX with reliability in mind.
If I had the money, I’d go for the Lexus. With a mix of overland/regular driving the Lexus would give at least 200,000 miles of service. Still a little skeptical that the Ford’s EcoBoost would tolerate that kind of abuse over the same mileage.
I have to say that I remember when Tommy did a review of the Ford Expedition and did the roller test. The Expedition did amazing. So it isn’t a surprise that it did great in this test. I believe the Ford 4x4 system is great because of them purchasing Land Rover years ago possibly. The Lexus is nice but I wouldn’t have purchased that vehicle.
Why would Ford need to borrow anything from Land Rover when they have been making off-road vehicles since WW2? They made Jeeps for the US Government in WW2 along with Willys And aside from that they produced the Bronco for decades and are currently selling a new Bronco along with the F150 Raptor Land Rover 🤣
@@joecool9739 the 4wd system on the Land Rover is a better system than Ford had. That is only one of the reasons why Ford purchased Land Rover. Just because they made 4wd vehicle doesn’t mean there isn’t better. The system on the Land Rover is possibly the best, but reliability for the rest of the vehicle is crap. But Ford does have its own issues with recalls and fit and finish now. Ford did make a Bronco II, and used a twin ibeam system at one time. Useless is what they were.
I have had a 2020 Expedition Max Limited rental from Enterprise for a couple months now, and will have it at least another month. I have put on 6,000 miles so far, interstate, two lane state highway, lots of curvy roads through Virginia and West Virginia and a couple times in a wilderness area that had 10 degree includes on muddy, rutted roads. This has been a real treat and has handled it all with aplomb. I have been getting 19.5 MPG, except when in the wilderness area. This vehicle has gobs of power, not just for it's size. The only issue I have had was on a steep incline and switchback, it hesitated a second to figure out what great to go in, but recovered very quick.
Great video Andre. $30k less, 3.5 ecoboost, 5 Mpg more, much more space. No doubt it's the Expedition. Can use the money for better suspension and tyres and may even lockers amd still save money
@@fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 yeah, but every part on the vehicle probably had to be replaced. Definitely not getting to 650 on stock turbo. And that's a big job to replace.
@@mchuo7834 they claimed it had nothing replaced. Stock engine and trans. Just wearable parts like brakes, filters, oil and plugs. It is cheaper to replace both turbo's on the Ford then it is to replace the starter on the Lexus.
Love it, Lexus does something well “its Lexus engineering blahblahbla” when the Ford does well going up the hill. “wow the Michilin tires did really well”. Guess I know how this video ends.
Other things he said in the very same sentence: "Wow", "I am impressed", "Good job Expedition". I guess a little sensitive? See if you can stick around for rest of the video - he proceeds to explain how Expedition is better in every way.
I have a 2014 Expedition that I am using for over landing. One of the reasons that I chose it over a Lexus is the legroom in the 3rd row seating area. The jump seats in the Lexus are fine for children, but the 3rd row in our Expedition are MUCH better for our teenagers. When the kiddos are permanently out of the house and we are empty nesters, I'll re-look the Lexus, but right now, the Expedition was a very easy choice to make.
Don't act like that test is already decided, my friend has a 10 year old Lexus landcruiser and he's already put over $10,000 in repairs into it. Mostly because of the complex braking/traction system and the air suspension.
Both are going to be much more expensive, almost everything made since 2010 is junk. Meanwhile my 2006 Silverado with 180K miles has had less than $2000 in repairs over its entire lifespan.
My neighbor took his brand new 2020 Lexus LX off roading with me last Saturday. I have a 98 Toyota Tacoma with a 4 inch lift, 32 inch BF Goodrich mud terrains and a rear locker. I took him on some trails that I consider slightly technical. He did over $13,000 worth or damage to his rig the first hour. My Toy is full of dents and scratches, but I have more fun in my $4K rig off road than he has in his. He's never going back to those trails in that thing.....
Jonathan Losito I have had my expedition for 5 years and the interior looks great and mind you I have 3 boys all under the age of 10 . It has held up real well surprisingly , I used to buy nothing but GM and Toyota and this was my first Ford , very happy with it and not going to be getting rid of it anytime soon .
I second Angry Chili Mango. I have a 2007 EL lifted with 34" AT's and it's an amazing sleeper as in it will go almost anywhere and you can hardly tell that its been modified. You really have no idea that its lifted with big tires by looking at it unless its parked next to a jeep and then you say, huh I didn't realize Expy's could have ground clearance. Still drives great on the highway, far and away the best ride of any 4x4 overlander that I've ever been in. Stock traction control electronically locks up both the front and rear diffs. And I love the thought that goes into jenga packing overland gear into tiny spaces like a 4Runner, but for day to day adventuring I don't know how you go any smaller than a full size SUV. Its still shorter than a 4door truck, but without the bed/cab separation so you get more max capacity, better security for long term storage, can legitimately do extended overlands with 4 grown adults, don't have crap hanging off every exterior surface, and during the week you can haul 7 people with all the beach/sports gear you want. The only problem is that its so damn perfect than when it dies I just know that I'm going to spend way more money than I want to to build another one. Although when I hear numbers for other overland builds I don't really feel that bad. How did it become normal to spend 70K on a freakin car?
Jason Azuma Very well said , I too feel like there’s no other SUV like the expy , amazing in every way . I was wondering what lift do you have ? And also has it affected the ride quality ? I also have the locking front and rear and it’s freaking amazing , I took it off-roading once and made it pretty far back into the desert and I had doubters and naysayers pretty quiet and impressed with how well it did .
I used the ReadyLift 3/2 and upgraded to Bilstein B6 4600 shocks. It doesn’t feel at all top heavy and not sure if it’s more shocks, geometry, or tires but I feel like it’s a significantly smoother and tighter ride on road. Off road I have to air down if I don’t want to get beat to death, but the ground clearance is an incredible 12.5”. And yeah I’ve run it all around Death Valley, Mohave, Big Bear and people are always shaking their heads in disbelief. The fully independent suspension with massive anti sway bars does not allow for much articulation so thank goodness for those locking diffs! Also the fact that even the EL version has a shorter wheelbase than the Gladiator...what?!
Ford does have center locking diff. It's the 4x4 button. That locks the transfer case to split power. The Toyota has a center diff lock button because it's constant full time AWD. It needs that button while putting the Ford in 4 wheel drive from 2wd does this
The Lexus doesn't have KDSS, nor does KDSS lift or lower a vehicle. The lexus uses AHC/AVS and the Land Cruiser uses standard shocks and KDSS. The AHC/AVS on the Lexus pretty amazing for flex, ride height, comfort and reliability. As another note, the "locker" on the Ford is actually just a clutch based LSD that can clamp to lock, but it builds heat and can be overworked. Its a nice gesture from Ford for an differential they didn't have a locker for. Plus it gives you better on-road traction. Its certainly more than Toyota gives you.
I have an lx570, i love everything about it. AHC suspension is super luxurious, plenty of torque for towing, wheelbase is great offroad, my only complaint is i wish it had a rear e locker like my 99 4runner. Having true locking diffs would make the LX the most capable and reliable offroader available
Lexus all the way man, no comparison between the two vehicles in terms of off road capability. Lexus LX570 built based on the legendary Land Cruiser therefore, Lexus wins. It needs smaller wheel size and better off road tiers and that is it....Ford more focus for on road comfort and ride quality and to be fair if comparing luxurious we should put the Lexus against the Lincoln not the ford or compare the ford Expedition against the Toyota Land Cruiser... Thanks for the video and keep up the good work and stay safe...
I'd take the Expedition all day long over the LX, for two simple reasons. Price and Wheels. I don't know why the manufactures continue to feel the need to ruin a highly capable off road vehicle with low profile wheels. It adds price to the vehicle, ruins the ride and performance for off road, and in my opinion just makes the truck ugly. Ford did it right with the wheel and tire combination with the FX4 package.
Lexus knows it’s customers and so does Ford. That’s why they have the wheels they have. If I buy a $90k LX and want to go off road, I can afford new wheels and tires. 99% of LX buyers aren’t going off pavement, hence the wheels.
I don't have the newest version of the expedition. But i was able to fit 275/70 R18 (33.1 inch) all terrains on my 2017 xlt with no clearance issues whatsoever. The difference is night and day.
This was a fun comparison. I’ve had 20 yrs of Toyotas 4runner, J80 LC and then a 2007 Sequoia. The 07 Sequoia is still in the family and by far my most favorite of those trucks. Best mileage of the bunch also. My dad owns it now. I have a late 2019 Platinum Expedition with heavy tow package so everything the FX has plus more. I didn’t even consider Toyota this time around. #1 Lousy mileage and hugely outdated seating configuration. #2 Lousy Auto Group owned dealers in my region. #3 Remote regions a lexus or LC especially new draw the wrong kind of attention in places where $30,000 yr income is doing well. I bought the Expedition #1 Modern seating space/options 2nd row bench. #2 Mileage! I get 16-18mpg hauling kids in town and 20-23mpg road trips crazy as that sounds its not that far off my Subaru Outback which we sold 20-21mpg in town and typically 26-27mpg road trips. The Expedition has been fantastic. Last of all the Subaru Ascent was number 1 on my list we even waited for it to come out. In the end the CVT and Subarus spotty quality issues took the brand off my shopping list all together. The 10spd, proper 4x4 and locking rear diff and the impressive 3.5L with heavy tow pack was an easy choice over the other options. I really liked the 2019 Yukon Denali almost bought one but it was a little tired in design and oddly dealers were not willing to deal. I paid cash for the Expedition 12,500 off MSRP.
I personally like the 4Runner the way the backseats fold down conventionally. Doesn’t have the backseats in the way on the side and it’s just an huge empty space since the seats go into the base like the expedition. Much better than the seats just folding to the side.
Love it! It's nearly a redemption video for the Expedition for the last one what the broken rear ELSD. Now, if you have time, and no snow, you should take it up to the same spot...
Well if your thinking durability we just sold a 1998 Explorer 100% original 250,000 miles daily driver nothing but fluids and tires. My 93 Landcruiser needed lots of expensive stuff done at 150,000 or it was done. My brothers 98 LC has had lots of expensive repairs exhaust headers etc also. Funny enough both of us now drive new Ford trucks. 20 yrs of Toyotas for me and honestly there’s nothing Toyota has today I’d bother owning.
@@U20E27 My dad had an Explorer from the same era that went to the junk yard at 120k miles and he replaced it with a 4Runner that's never been in the shop for 150k miles through dirt and snow. Ain't anecdotal evidence grand? The Land Cruiser is the longest lasting vehicle ever made by a country mile and that's backed by statistical evidence. Check the TFL video on longest lasting vehicles if you don't believe me.
@@Natethegreat200c shouldnt be leasing anyways, at least if you value your hard earned money. Besides lease deals on the Lexus make it only marginally more than the Ford.
@@Natethegreat200c So you'd be happy shelling out $25-30k every 3 years just to have that? I'm not paying a dime currently and even if I bought new every 10 years, I'd be saving tons. No less pleasurable on the daily commute either.
I’ve personally taken my LX on both of these “features”. The first test is essentially a hill out of a parking lot. The second feature is steeper and more washed out than it appears on video. My LX had zero drama on either section. Go take that Expedition up to “Rocky Top” I know the LX can make it ;) Also since you like that area to test go check out Gordon Gulch and Upham Loop.
I enjoyed the video. Thanks for producing it. I think it is apples to oranges comparison. I think a better comparison would be a Toyota Sequoia to an expedition.
Love my 2015 Expedition EL w/ 3.73gears, torque for towing, don't have the limited slip but the most offroading it does is at campsites with a camper behind it. 18mpg highway, 10mpg towing 6000lbs.
The lincoln is the only full size american SUV I would buy. I love it. The LX is in a whole different class. It is smaller and built as a Luxury land cruiser. If I was going to need to go more serious off roading, the LX would be it. But for daily driving, the Lincoln seems more nimble to me, even though it is bigger. I rented a Lincoln for a week and loved it. Much nicer than the escalade/suburban
I just bought my 2019 Ford Expedition 3 months ago. It is a Limited trim with the 302A package. So I do have 22" wheels which look awesome but I am definitely not taking it offroad yet. I do have dreams of making this truck an Overland vehicle (and quite possible an Off-road trailer from Off-Grid trailers called the Expedition 2.0 :) ). I am keeping it stock for the next 5 years and then maybe "ruggedize" it a bit after that. I just do not want to void any warranties at this moment.
I definitely have to disagree, the Lexus has a solid rear axle with much more articulation. Only reason it “slipped” was because the crawl control was on. If you went as fast as you did with the expedition, it would have gotten the same result. But great video as always!
How can you go off-road with that snowplow of a front spoiler on the Lexus? It has the underpinnings of an off-roader with the body of an F1 car. The two simply aren't compatible.
Ken Kracko yea, I would definitely go with a Land Cruiser over these two any day, Lexus is way too ugly and the Expedition is decent but definitely not worth $70k
Mean while the ford will be worrh few grand in few years and the Lexus barely loses any value compare to any other brand. The bullet proof reliability of the LX is a no joke, you literally can drive this for life!
As an expedition owner, 19mpg combined is hilariously off. More like 13 in the city, 20highway. 25 on the highway is possible if you go 55 and barely touch the throttle
Rhy Dynamic nope live in an area with a lot of stop and go. This thing destroys fuel (2019) about as badly as my 4Runner on 33s with full time 4wd. Way faster though :)
That first test for the Lexus was one of the most anticlimactic things I have seen on youtube in a while. It was like "for my first test, I'm going to pull out of the driveway".
Lexus is so much nicer. I have one and almost purchased a Platinum Expedition which is far nicer than the one in this video. I like the power of the Ecoboost, but if Andre would’ve went just a little further to some area where breakover would’ve come into play, the Lexus would’ve walked off and left the Expedition. Both are nice. But if you sit inside and drive each of them, the Lexus is in a league of its own. That’s what people purchase these things. They can go off-road just fine, and you have a super plush place to spend your daily life also.
FABULOUS OFF ROAD DESIGNS When did I mention the Navigator? Also, you still have that 10 speed tranny which is far less than stellar at this point. I’ve had two of those new transmissions. Bumping and gear jumping. No good.
FABULOUS OFF ROAD DESIGNS Also, the off-road breakover limit would be same as expedition. So, for off-road, like the video is made to relate to, it’d be still so long. I like Navi, but Black Label or bust. At that point price is way up there, anyway.
@@jasonpreslar6251 I love my 10 speed. Smooth and efficient, also amazing off road in manual mode in 4LOW with that super low first gear ratio. Comparing a Luxury brand Lexus to a mainstream brand base level product like this Ford and making a comment on interior fit & finish is as ridiculous as comparing a Lincoln to a Scion and acting like you are a genius for noticing the the difference in materials. As for the Navigator, you didn't mention it; because nobody would pick the Lexus over the Navigator. It is way nicer inside and out, way faster, way more efficient, way less prone to rust and still less expensive then the Lexus.
FABULOUS OFF ROAD DESIGNS Opinions differ. I picked the Lexus over the Nav and I’m so glad I did. I had two brand new 10 speed from ford and had issues with both. When they were smooth, they were great. But, I got rid of both of them.
I would definitely choose the Ford cost of repairs are less for the $20,000 in difference in initial purchase price I could put fox racing suspension 35 inch off-road tires a lift kit and much much more and buy an aftermarket warranty and still have money left over there’s no comparison and for that amount of money I’d put front lockers on it

@@mabbook I've driven the newer ones. They are not built better.
I learned that both of these SUV's can drive... on a dirt road
[Edit] - TFL - you guys are awesome so don't let my snarky comment get you down! That's just my way of asking for more comparisons with these vehicles (the expedition in particular,) but stepped to a level 3 difficulty ;)
The Expedition is surprisingly good. I test drove one on a whim and was super impressed. I got a new Navigator because I'm fancy tho.
"I got a new Navigator because I'm fancy tho" haha that's exactly what I'd do, and say LOL
Nice flex 😬
Great video Andre (& staff). It's very impressive that even through the COVID-19 pandemic, TFL continues to put out a steady stream of videos. Your audience is truly grateful, informed & entertained.
Thanks for the kind words!
LX570 doesn't have KDSS - It is a hydraulic suspension that you can raise with a flick of switch.
Yes people confuse it with Land Cruiser suspension. Amazing how these guys do all these videos and still get shit like this wrong.
this is cause they really don't know about vehicles. they are just presenters. i realized this a while ago when he didn't even know what a control arm looked like.
Shaun R 🤝
yes it does, since 2007
@@jasonhansen6632 unfortunately that's incorrect. LX570 has low pressure hydraulic system called Automatic Height Control (AHC). The Land Cruiser has conventional suspension with kdss
Guys, awesome content as always. You’re spitting out videos like crazy during these strange times we’re in. Thanks for sharing.
We have an expedition and it’s really good off-road and we live in Saudi Arabia so we have dunes and it’s really good
Fun video. But anyone who knows SUVs knows that Toyota products are amongst the best off road. Even with AT tires. If you need more space in a Toyota get a Sequoia.
that ford expediton is a beauty..
Dear Ford, please allow some of your younger, more "think outside the box" employees on the design team.
please also make a very basic one that I can afford. I can live without all the tech quirks.
Price versus capability. Expedition all day. Especially when it comes time to tow to your camping trip or fit all your belongings then go offroad.
Most Lexus owners usually don’t go off-roading, camping, or towing with their $85k+ Car 😂
Why do I know that? It’s because we own a LX 570 🤣
Well out of all fairness anybody that actually has to tow something generally knows better than to buy a Toyota in the first place.
@@ashes2ashes863 why do you say that?
Greg Kittle
Toyota isn’t really into trucks as much as The Big Three are. Toyota’s are usually in last place when it comes to towing capability. They don’t innovate as much in those areas because they don’t need to, people buy Toyota’s for their “reliability and dependability.”
@@francesco1998 or at the very least that's what they keep telling themselves when they buy one.
Five years from now you will be glad you chose the Lexus!
I have owned 3 LX570s, 1 LX470, I put about 350000 miles between them and I had 0 issues. - Zero been to 5000k cross country trips in crazy rains and snow storms. Mountain biking in the mountains where are no roads, The Lx has never let me down
uzi z I have both a 570 and 470 and I think the lx470 rides better. What’s your opinion, was your 470 more comfortable?
No, You're Wrong
Based on diagonal and roller tests I've seen that Jeep and Ford tend to perform the best
Why would Ford need to borrow anything from Land Rover when they have been making off-road vehicles since WW2?
They made Jeeps for the US Government in WW2 along with Willys
And aside from that they produced the Bronco for decades and are currently selling a new Bronco along with the F150 Raptor
Land Rover 🤣
Taking the Lexus all day over that ford! And it's not even close.
The Ford will be there to pull your lexus out!
Harley Jackson not when it’s always at the shop. That Lexus IS far more reliable than that ecoboost
Great video Andre. $30k less, 3.5 ecoboost, 5 Mpg more, much more space. No doubt it's the Expedition. Can use the money for better suspension and tyres and may even lockers amd still save money
Ya. Front Torsen differential out of the Raptor and a 2" lift with 34" tires would make the Expedition a real monster off road!
it would last over 300k miles though....
@@mchuo7834 they both will. I've seen a 3.5 eco F-150 with over 650,000 km's on it. It was a professional Hot Shot truck. Not an easy life either.

10 inches of length difference will do the trick in trying to lay down in the back with seats folded down.
Love it, Lexus does something well “its Lexus engineering blahblahbla” when the Ford does well going up the hill. “wow the Michilin tires did really well”. Guess I know how this video ends.
ted sheldon no you don’t

ted sheldon
Clearly at the end he said he’s gonna go with the Expedition
Other things he said in the very same sentence: "Wow", "I am impressed", "Good job Expedition". I guess a little sensitive? See if you can stick around for rest of the video - he proceeds to explain how Expedition is better in every way.
Tires do matter. You'd expect the Lexus with low profile street tires to slip more than the more aggressive tire on the Ford.
Fords are not off-roading suvs ....Toyota and Lexus are the kings
I'm glad to see y'all review full-sized SUVs... finally. This is one segment that y'all ignore too much.
They've tested just about every full size SUV that last few years and had a Land Cruiser project vehicle (if you think a LX/LC is a full size SUV).
2010 LX570 used with 120k miles - $30k, 2010 Ford Expedition with 120k miles King Ranch - $7500. That should tell most of the story.
I still don't know why Toyota dealerships have repair shops.
save 2,256 gallons of fuel ( around $5,000 ) and $30,000 less, ( plus interest, financing ) Ford Expedition win
My 96 land cruiser was an amazing vehicle, it could handle any washed out roads in northern Maine, I always will regret selling it!
Those are tanks!
Andre, This was a good test. Now we need a 10 year repair bill cost comparison.
And retained value...
Don't act like that test is already decided, my friend has a 10 year old Lexus landcruiser and he's already put over $10,000 in repairs into it. Mostly because of the complex braking/traction system and the air suspension.
Very True!!
Both are going to be much more expensive, almost everything made since 2010 is junk. Meanwhile my 2006 Silverado with 180K miles has had less than $2000 in repairs over its entire lifespan.
@@Wade-lk4yo ya have you ever price a starter replacement on that Lexus? It's twice as expensive as a Ford Turbo replacement.
I’d take the LX- or a Land Cruiser... or a Sequoia... or a 4Runner... or a Tacoma.. or ANOTHER TUNDRA!
Or hilux
I have an older expedition (2008 limited 4x4) and that thing does amazing off-road , Very underrated vehicle !
It needs that button while putting the Ford in 4 wheel drive from 2wd does this
This is awesome. I have loved the LX570 more and more.
I have both a 17 f150 and 18 expedition. I researched these two so much I don't think I'll ever change

The donkey wins!
That arabian horse is over priced
This is scam American people make reviews on American car ?

Francisco Herrera Francisco, drive a pink Volkswagen Jetta!
Different classes of vehicles and customers between these 2. Not at all comparable beside being 4x4 SUVs
Can just add some Land Cruiser wheels for under $1k.
@@leenestle Or better yet, Tundra 18" wheels.
@@kurtf31r that would work. I’d go white LX with TRD pro wheels.

Love that Ford Expedition ♥️😍
Would go with the Lexus all day long but with a better set of tires. Reliability is second to none and the quality is superb
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 10 YEAR UPDATE
I’ve personally taken my LX on both of these “features”. The first test is essentially a hill out of a parking lot. The second feature is steeper and more washed out than it appears on video.
My LX had zero drama on either section. Go take that Expedition up to “Rocky Top” I know the LX can make it ;)
Also since you like that area to test go check out Gordon Gulch and Upham Loop.
I enjoyed the video. Thanks for producing it. I think it is apples to oranges comparison. I think a better comparison would be a Toyota Sequoia to an expedition.
Agreed, or instead of Sequoia at least pair the Lexus against the Lincoln Navigator. That'd be a neat comparison too.
Love my 2015 Expedition EL w/ 3.73gears, torque for towing, don't have the limited slip but the most offroading it does is at campsites with a camper behind it. 18mpg highway, 10mpg towing 6000lbs.
The expedition will always be my favorite suv
The lincoln is the only full size american SUV I would buy. I love it. The LX is in a whole different class. It is smaller and built as a Luxury land cruiser. If I was going to need to go more serious off roading, the LX would be it. But for daily driving, the Lincoln seems more nimble to me, even though it is bigger. I rented a Lincoln for a week and loved it. Much nicer than the escalade/suburban
FYI - No KDSS on LX 570, great video tho! Love your videos, guys. we need more nathan!
Something tells me Ford offered TFL a deal they couldn’t refuse in exchange for this 3rd party Ford Commercial.
Land Cruiser vs oversized unreliable minivan, tough choice😂😂😂
The Lexus win's in reliability but the ford wins in sales
Reliability doesn’t matter with a luxury car. That’s why it’s not a luxury car because them trying to be reliable is holding it back.
Manveer Bajwa nah, the rear locker in the Ford doesn’t let it stop, just moves forward. If the Lexus had it it wouldn’t get stuck for a second either.
Actually he wasn't even using crawl control. He was using MTS and in the wrong mode to prevent slippage.
How can you go off-road with that snowplow of a front spoiler on the Lexus? It has the underpinnings of an off-roader with the body of an F1 car. The two simply aren't compatible.
True that the independent suspension on the Ford does not allow for a lot of articulation.
Ken Kracko yea, I would definitely go with a Land Cruiser over these two any day, Lexus is way too ugly and the Expedition is decent but definitely not worth $70k
"Best possible mode"? Dammit my truck doesn't have that mode!!!!
Old Gregg+ You might have a heavy right foot. 😂
I have a 2016 Expedition EL and highway @65 it gets 21. City is more like 17-18.
Rhy Dynamic nope live in an area with a lot of stop and go. This thing destroys fuel (2019) about as badly as my 4Runner on 33s with full time 4wd. Way faster though :)
My Expy Max 4x4 with HD Tow and 3.73 gears has life time mpg of 19.5 though only 15K miles so far.
Sorry but the Lincoln Navigator is way nicer then the Lexus and is still less money.

Easier than pushing a button? :P Lifting an actual Land Cruiser is not a problem at all.

Hate to correct you sir, but the 5.7 in the Lexus is not the same engine as in the Tundra.
The most surprising thing about the $100,000 LX was its use of 1990s cctv cameras and their outdated dash screen found down in the Corolla . The most impressive was its hydraulic suspension and fridge. Though I know Dometic offers something for the Full Size Fords.

I have a 2011 Ford expedition XL i’ve also found it to do very well off-road where smaller cars like a Subaru Forrester will spin out and Lose traction the expedition just keeps on going. Also when it comes time for pulling heavy loads such as a vehicle or someone out of the ditch my expedition Shines where a truck cannot get the traction to do it. I love the expedition it’s one of my favorite vehicles and I’m definitely saving for a newer model
The expo has the most towing out of all the suv
That's what it came down to me. I wanted a big truck and small suv in my 4 person household, with the ability to tow a medium trailer. Turns out that big suv and small truck made more sense, so now we have expedition and ranger. The expedition tows more than the ranger.
Matthew Marlowe
It tows more than 2020 Nissan Titan... but how well it handles max towing weight in real world is another story.
@@Agent.K. is it? I haven't seen anything to indicate it tows poorly. I have a 2018 Max Platinum. I've only towed my 8000lb trailer once, but it did fantastic IMO.
@@engineeringVirtue Only in America can you call a Ranger small lmao 😭
With HD Tow pkg mine is rated to tow 9300 lbs. Toyo can't touch that.
Just bought a 2018 expedition max. Love it so far.
Tbh id pick the expedition. Sadly that LX is so ancient with the technology :( they still have not updated it. It’s worth as much as the expedition, not 100k
I imagine one way to get the price down on the Lexus, is to choose that unfortunate champagne color.
Or just buy one that's two years old since they haven't changed in forever. It will still outlast a brand new Ford.
mechmat12345 they dont depreciate much in two years
@@mechmat12345 outlast wow you know about future kid
You want to talk about luxury in a Expedition then you should have brought the Expedition Platinum or King ranch
15:50 I would argue Lexus buyers dont see a Ford as competition, regardless of whether or not it's true.
The Lexus LX will last 5 times longer with less maintenance.
With more expensive maintenance
@@zachjohnston8086 definitely not.
@TFL I am a big fan but I believe this is a mismatch. It should have been the Navigator(which DOES share the platform) vs the LX
You guys should do a Lincoln Navigator off-road comparison vs the Lexus 570.
15:50 I had to put on my sunglasses from Andre's ultra white belly lmao Nice video guys!
dude i really didnt need to know that
😭
I have to say just because they could be around the same price doesnt necessarily mean they compete. Lexus is so far ahead of ford in terms of reliability, safety, luxury and design its no competition whatsoever. 🇯🇵
Please make a video...Lincoln navigator black label vs Lexus lx 570
Good job Ford for not breaking down on the trail! I'm sure it would have if they did a second day 😂🤣
RIGHT LOL... good luck with those Ford turbo chargers
Before I even watch it, I’m curious how you thought to compare an Expedition to a Land Cruiser Prado lololololol
It’s not even a competition 😂
The GX is a prado where as the LX is just a standard LC
