This is my favorite place in the world. I love the ponies, these children of the sand and surf. The weekend my husband proposed to me, he woke me up. All around our camper, a band of ponies were sleeping. It was magical.
That is the most magical and romantic thing I have ever read. Not only did your husband propose to you that weekend, but you got to see a bunch of wild ponies sleeping outside your camper. So lucky ❤
Assateaque, while well known, still feels like a hidden gem to those lucky enough to have stepped foot on her land, shores, etc. I recommend a visit after dark. Just as if not more magical! The most stunning night sky I’ve ever witnessed in person with the soft crashing of waves in the background. Experiences like this further convince there being a higher power at work in the heavens above ✨
Still on my bucket list to see these ponies. I made it to the Grayson Highlands in April to see ponies there. I also hiked 35 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
You were in my neck of the woods when you were at Grayson Highland! The ponies there are so friendly! I’ve been to Asateague, but the horses were off in the distance. We enjoyed the beautiful beaches though.
Thank you for mentioning where this Island is. I'm from Southern California and drove across the U.S. many times, but didn't know where this beautiful place was till you texted Maryland. Thanx again. BTW, I so loved the 70's, magical time for me, 👣😊
@@blissful1689 How lovely! I loved Stormy, Misty’s Foal even better than Misty of Chincoteague. Even though I live in Maryland I’ve never been to Pony Penning Day. It couldn’t possibly live up to my memory of the books.
In this video we see two stallions, one foal and a bunch of mares. My favorite part of this whole video though is at 0:53 and 1:08 where we see a pinto mare watching over her foal. So cute.
Such a gorgeous island - Great footage!! We posted a very similar video ourselves just a few days ago! Got some funny footage of the horses yawning and lazing about.
I lived in Gargatha in the 90’s, below Chincoteague. Going to the beach & seeing the horses never got old. Chincoteague’s Pony Swim has been cancelled July 28, 2021 due to Covid-19. Chincoteague.com explains the Pony Swim. Great shots of the horses!
The Wild mustangs of the western plains more or less, came to the North American continent, by ships from Europe. Why can’t they get the same respect as the ponies of Carolina islands? 😥
Don't ever go to the top of the lighthouse to spread ashes, been there done that and had my ex-girlfriends dad's ashes blow into my eyeballs oh, they should have thought it through more clearly

No words are ever needed on your moment of nature. Always so moving in a very quiet way.
My favorite ending to Sunday morning every weekend, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful setting!
In the late 70's an early 80's we camped there for 3 to 5 days each summer, it was so sweet!
Thanks...
Those horses are so beautiful. They look like they are really enjoying their selves.
My grandparents took me to Chincoteague to watch the horses swim the straight. Never will I forget. Big dogs. 🐕💜💜
OH YOU ARE SOO LUCKY, MY CHILDHOOD DREAM.
MUST HAVE BEEN VISION YOU WILL NEVER FORGET❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@bambigerman4133 they looked very happy. 💜

I lived near by in the 70s , used to ride my horse there. The ponies could care less about us there. Such a wonderful history of Maryland for sure

Just stunning.
*thank you so much for these segments*
I could have watched this for another two hours
The horses are so beautiful. Thank you for making me a smile.
So peaceful and lovely. My favorite segment of Sunday Morning. Wish all horses could enjoy this freedom and peace.
These were the best moments of serenity and calm that I've felt from, "nature", CBS Sunday Morning. Thank you for a site I can keep revisiting.
Beautiful and calming thank you❣️
So, so beautiful. You brought my favorite childhood book to life, Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry.
THANK YOU.
I had the Bryer figure of Misty and her goal Stormy as a girl 🥰

Beautiful!
I was literally just there during Memorial Day weekend! Beautiful place and wonderful horses!
I'm so blessed to live in the same state as assateague and Chincoteague. :-)
Why is that because of wild horses
Assateague and Chincoteague are in two different states.
Assateague Island is 37 miles long. Maryland & Virginia both claim this barrier island.

So lovely. i was just there last week.

Always my favorite part 💘
Thanks CBS for your efforts. Awesome .I just can't find the right words
Breathtaking to see wild horses left alone to be free....
Not the case with the horses out west who are tortured and captured by the BLM.
Misty of Chincoteague Marguerite Henry
Even the ponies look like they are having a drowsy Sunday morning.
Good Morning :)
The horses love eating sandwiches from the beach. Put your food in your car!

On my rv life retirement plan
Oh Misty
As all wild animals should be. Free to live their best life without humanity getting in the way or destroying it.

That is better mind therapy than years of DR nagging experiments
❤️
Let's give Assange an island, I think he deserves it for exposing war crimes. Snowden can stay in Russia though, he was a US citizen unlike Assange.
