  • In the first episode of 3 Pints of Laughter, former England, Ipswich Town and Rangers captain Terry Butcher opens up to OIly Magnus and Simon Young about his fabulous career and off-field antics. Football hard man but a gentle giant off the pitch.
    Hear him talk about his hotel days north of the border, where he became the Basil Fawlty of Scotland. And find out how a teapot played a significant part in spawning arguably England's finest-ever left-side centre-back.
    3 Pints of Laughter is kindly sponsored by All Truck and Trailer Parts, supplier of original equipment and aftercare components for commercial vehicles: www.alltrucktr...
    We also wish to thank Seckford Golf Club and WM Brokers for supporting the channel - www.seckfordgol... and wmbrokers.co.uk/

    Good on Terry! He came to Scotland and gave 100% in everything he done. It was great to hear him talking so fondly about his time there. He went from England captain to being (almost) a Scottish national treasure. Best wishes to him. (I'm a Celtic supporter).

    Souness pulled of some of the most exciting signings in Rangers and Scottish football history when he brought Butcher to Ibrox along with alot of fantastic English players including Chris Woods, Ray Wilkins, Trevor Steven, Mark Hatley and Graham Roberts. He was a warrior on the pitch and will always be held in the highest regards by us Blue Noses. Fantastic interview.

      Rangers died

    • @jamescarr4662
      @jamescarr4662 Год назад

      that whole era of 'success' was essentially built on an overdraft provided by the banks with whom David Murray had, rather predictably, a masonic relationship. Souness injected bigoted poison into an already deeply sectarian and hateful institution in Rangers and set in train the club's continued financial cheating that would ultimately see to its 2012 death. Her Majesty never did live to see Rule Britannia FC pay those taxes...But at least you have a lovely framed picture of her in the changing rooms. Some legacy....

    Im a Celtic fan and would like to say i always respected big Terry. Obviously i shouted nonsense at him from the stands when he played for Rangers but he was a good player and a good captain...However what he did managing teams in Scotland and him living there just made you think the guy is just a really decent man.
    Did a lot for Scottish football. But even when he commentates on games he just comes accross as a really honest and good guy.
    God Bless Terry......

      Not had a captain like him or Richard Gough ever since. Tavernier pales in comparison. The guy is just not a leader i don't care what anyone says. Some people are leaders & some are followers and for some reason nobody has the guts to tell hom.he's a follower & take the weight of his shoulders and give the captaincy to somebody else. 3 or 4 managers now & not one of them has the balls to change it.

    I saw Terry Butcher on stage with Iron Maiden at the Edinburgh Playhouse, singing the backing vocals (along with the road crew) to Heaven Can Wait. This was just after Graeme Souness had dropped him from the Rangers team in Sept 1990. The fans recognised him and chanted “There’s only one Terry Butcher” at the end of the song.🤘It was the No Prayer On The Road Tour.

      Just before rangers died (R.I.P) I was at ibrox and had the pleasure of watching Terry managing my team - Inverness Caley Thistle to a fantastic three nil win.
      He came over to celebrate with us ICT fans, as he very often did, the rangers fans were furious with his behaviour and disowned him after that!
      Although it wasn't long after that that they let their club die so maybe they never really cared that much to begin with.
