Very good advice about Ironite... Key to what Lawn Amateur said is: HEALTH of your lawn. I live in South Carolina (Bermuda grass), and I treat for weeds all Winter long then I scalp my lawn in March... During the Spring I use PGF Complete and BIO Char, to promote growth, and also apply an application of Pre-Emergent... Summer (late June to early September) I STOP using Nitrogen based products, so I don't burn out my lawn, and start applying a mixture of IRONITE, Chicken Feed, and BIO Char--- This Summer routine promotes dark green/healthy looking grass while building/maintaining healthy soil composition. When the weather changes in the Fall, I go back to Nitrogen based products to finish out the year, and apply Pre-Emergent once again. Hope this helps some people out there with clay soil, southern heat, and Bermuda grass-- Happy cutting, and God Bless!
Your lawn looks great!!! Yeah, those rains on Friday and Saturday were lifesavers, there's nothing like rain when it comes to watering the lawn especially a deep soaking rain, we needed it.
@@LawnAmateur I agree and those rains were something else. but needed. My grass woke up with that rain but I will have a lot of work to do on it in the fall to get it looking better.
I'm in Central California and just found your website. Nice presentation and you have a nice yard. I'm retired and enjoy watching yard maintenance videos. I'm going to enjoy your videos one by one. Good luck to you and keep up the good work.
John here I used it with no green color change I used 1 lb per 100 sq feet measured out. Water before and after. Chalked line squares of 10x10 thru out before putting it on.
By the way there is an awesome summer fertilizer I picked up from a site one location it’s only 20 something dollars a bag covers about 10,000 ft.² it has 10% iron and is a 5-0-20 For those that have very low-k levels like myself
This worked for me! Got great results and now my lawn has dominated the entire neighborhood! I put down ironite a few weeks ago, followed by milorganite, and ironite again last week. My lawn is looking nice!
Nice color..I can only imagine how it's gonna look with the Ironite..I put Milorganite down March 24..Cut the lawn a few days ago...And omg!!..About to put Ironite down in the middle of May....
Thank you, My lawn looks the best when I use Milorganite and Ironite especially in the hot summer months when you don't want to over fertilizer your lawn but want that nice dark green color. May is the perfect time for Ironite dose. Thank you for your support.
Looks like the bag has a (Prod: 10/17/17 and Exp:10/17/19) date on it. I am not 100% sure but that might be production and expiration date. I have always had funny experiences with Ironite I gave up with that product and just use liquid chelated Fe. So far I keep my lawn nice and green. If you ever go with liquid Iron stay away from LawnStar it is junk. Stay blessed brother🙏
I’ve never tried ironite, but I like that the bag is a lot smaller than milorganite! I laid milo down for the first time today and thinking of alternating the two!
Ironite is a great choice especially in the summer and late fall when you want to give your lawn that green up pop look but without the excess nitrogen forcing your grass to grow.
Iron requires moisture to function.. that doesn't mean water right after. Moist soil is what it needs to activate! It isn't like a fertilizer that needs a dry lawn then water. Moist soil dry blades is key with iron! Hope that helps
man hold up! the last time I watched one of your videos it was from around 2 years ago. I ran across this video and was like, "maybe he moved to a new house or something. This can't be the same yard!" lol
So ironite is a safer bet than milorganite due to the level of phosphate? Your yard looks like a nice healthy green. On another note the fence seems brighter 🤔 did you power wash it or something? Whatever you did it stands out, thanks for all the info as well #tunedin
Yea Milorganite is good but too much is bad for your lawn. And yea I actually power washed the fence about a week ago. So all thats left is to paint now. Thanks for your support
I know for my cool season lawn it can be applied 4x a season. So I want to say it should be the same for warm season grass but always read the label to double check.
I tried this about a month ago also because I knew summer was here and didn’t want the growth. Nice results using this although if you have different types of grass in your turf some might turn a deep darker green than others. But other than that I like this product and it’s cheap! 👍 keep up the videos brother yard looking on point! 👌
Seems like I remember Ironite bag saying that there might be yellowing in dryer conditions, or maybe it was extremely hot conditions? Either way, I did use it this summer (7/21), and I did have a good bit of yellowing, so, just thought I would mention the possibility for some.
Hey Darryl, I notice my grass is not as thick as it was from my spring pics. Is it due to its so hot the grass has stalled? Btw I have not really seen a difference or very little difference with the Milo. I'm just trying to get it thicker.. Thanks
Yea it definitely can be heat are you watering? The grass needs atleast an inch of water a week. And also are you mowing frequently atleast 2 times a week? Mowing frequently promotes the grass to thicken up also.
I bought a new spreader and used it once and it broke. The wheel is stuck and it no longer is able push the product out. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?
Its both but it has a low amount of fertilizer 1-0-1. Nitrogen and potassium only. So it helps improves the soil while giving it a nice darker green appearance because of the iron content in the fertilizer without making the grass grow like high nitrogen fertilizers. This is great to use in summer time for sure because you won't risk stressing the grass out. Hope this help.
@@LawnAmateur Thanks man. So do you use it with your fertilizer or in-between. I just put down my fall doormant stuff about a week ago. Can I lay this next or wait until the spring? still got a few yellow spots from the harsh summer
I'm not good at measuring and perfer the liquid verses granules. Is there a liquid in Ironite. I live in Wisconsin, have a corner lot. More shade in front yard than backyard. Suggestions please.
Ironite did nothing for my lawn. I'm very meticulous, and followed directions to the T. I moved away from it, but if it works for others that's good to hear.

I was surprised that the ironite was a little more pricey than the milorganite. How did the ironite work out for you?? Keep the videos coming!! Great channel.
The ironite definitely made the yard pop. Gave it that nice dark green look. And the most important thing is ironite doesn't promote alot of new growth. Thank you for your support 👍👍
Yes, use it alone as a fertilizer. Its low in nitrogen so its perfect to use in summer or fall when you want to grow up your yard but not force unnecessary stress or growth
Can I apply ironite after having my lawn fertilized about 2 wks ago? I've really been wanting to use this product for a while but didn't know if it would damage my tall fescue
