    That is a beautiful lawn. It took me a few years to dial in an annual program for mine. I did my research and wrote down the plan and put it in motion. Took notes on the results. What worked. What didn’t. Adjusted year two. Did same notes etc. By year three I learned a lot about proper lawn care and more importantly my lawn. Had a neighbor say to me what are you trying to have the nicest lawn in the block? Honestly NO. I don’t do this for the neighbors. Or anyone other than myself. Grew up in apartments and moved around a lot. When I finally got my own home I committed to taking care of it. When it comes to my lawn and the landscaping, it may seem like it’s being done to impress others. But I enjoy and I do it because I take pride in having something to take care of.

    You have a really great yard. You can be proud. I've used Ironite for years. I've found that Ironite doesn't nix well with some fertilizers. The mix will turn to mud and will not easily spread. The best time at least for me to buy has been at the end of the season when it's on clearance. Year before last I bought almost a whole pallet of Ironite at $2.00 per 15lb bag at Walmart. I had to take the whole pallet to get that price as they needed the room for Christmas merchandise. Besides the great color your lawn is spectacular.

    Outstanding Green!
    However, in my experience here in Chicago, with our alkaline soils and even more alkaline tap water, I didn't really get minimal results from when I used Ironite. I think it was an immediate darkening of the green but then it didn't last the week.
    Did further research yesterday and ironite will not react in alkaline soils to turn the grass green-at least not in the granular form. This means that all of us who suffer from a higher than 7.0 pH will have to use a foliar version of Chelated Iron supplement spray which is much more expensive to purchase.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  2 года назад +1

      That interesting 🤔 have you ever tried to lower your soil PH?

      Same I live in northern illnois gurnee area and commented that it didnt work for me saw no green up of my kbg. Lawnstar chelated works great. Or try lcn double dark with bio nite plus 6% iron work really good.

      @michaeldunagan8268 2 года назад

      @@LawnAmateur
      I have been attempting for the last 3 years. The first year I used that yellow elemental stuff from Ace hardware and it never dissolved. I'm now using Epsoma organic sulfur and I successfully lowered the pH of the lawn from 7.2 to 7.0.
      From RUclipsrs I watch and other articles I read it's much easier to raise a soil's pH than to lower it. Now that I got it down to 7.0, I feel like I'm not going to throw money away on Chelated Iron foliar spray.

Keep up the good work just giving you some tips to really help your yard pop.

    Great video and amazing lawn! I’m just getting into lawn. Got about 7000 sq ft lawn. Can I use ironite with milo? Or it’s not recommended?

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  2 года назад

      Thank you, you could use both but you just have to be careful with applying too much iron to your lawn. But applying once in a while together should be fine

      @@LawnAmateur oh not together. More like 1-2 weeks apart? Also was looking into Scott’s weed and feed. These 3 are just killing me and I can’t decide. I’m in Seattle, so we do get cooler rainy weather. And do have kids.

    Your yard is on fire! ? can you apply ironite with Professional Turf fert? I am on yard mastery program getting ready to drop fert this coming week. I do have milo as well. One more thing if applied should I wait a few weeks after the main fert or can they go down at the same time. New at lawn care second year and still learning. Fescue lawn here in Va. Thanks for all you information!

    I just dropped Scott's turf builder fert & Ironite on my lawn today @.@ ( It's been about 3 months since my first drop of Ironite). My lawn is looking so much better than 3 months ago. I do have a question though. Half my yard is almost all the tall fescue that I planted about 3 months ago...the other half is not. Can I just continue to overseed the rest of my lawn to get it all fescue? Or, is the rest of my lawn going to require more drastic measures? Like, modern problems require modern solutions type of thing? Thank you!

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  3 года назад +1

      Yes you can just keep overseeding your lawn with fescue and eventually it'll over take the current grass.

    Very nice by the way! I wet the soil, added the entire bag of ironite, wet the soil and a week later not dark green at all. It gets water from the sprinkler 3 times a week for 15 mins each time. I have St. Augustine Palmetto. Any ideas why its not greening up more?

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  3 года назад +1

      Certain grass types get greener than others. St Augustine is a warm season grass so its possible that your grass is at its greenest already. Doesn't mean the ironite didn't work on your lawn. Cool season grasses tend to get darker green than warm season grass. My lawn is full turf type tall fescue (cool season grass).

    • @arielrodriguez6980
      @arielrodriguez6980 3 года назад +1

      @@LawnAmateur I see thank you. I will water it even more and see. It could also be that in my case it takes time for the iron to really get in the soil.

    • @somethinghandle

      I’m late and all but check your soil ph. I can’t find my source anymore but I looked into a similar issue (different grass type) a couple years back and ironite only worked into the mid 7’s for ph and my ph was sky high. I had to go with a liquid chelated iron which works well into a ph of 9 in order to get results as I work to lower my soil ph.

      @D̶E̶A̶D̶I̶N̶S̶I̶D̶3̶ yea late summer early fall is the 1st best time to overseed but you can overseed now in spring. Spring is the 2nd best time to overseed. If you do overseed now just make sure you can water properly and get those roots strong and established before the summer hits because the hot summer will burn out weak roots.
