    I have a cheap rangefinder that has a UBS chargeable battery. I really like that feature. I’ve played 30+ rounds and haven’t need to charge it, since the initial charging. I’ve seen reviews where people have gone 50+ rounds without recharging. I guess different devices can have different batteries and power requirements, but I think this is a positive feature as my older Bushnell would have the battery die without any warning.

    So I bought my Precision Pro R1 a few months ago. Was super excited to get it out on the course. Was really let down that it didn’t make it through a full round before the battery died. Went home charged it over night, sat in my golf bag for 10 or so days. The next time out on the course, made it through 12 holes before the battery died. Went home charged it again overnight and played 2 or 3 days later…same thing.
    When the battery isn’t dead it’s awesome, can’t recommend it though because it has yet to make it through 18 holes before dying. Hopefully I just got a defective unit.
    Haven’t gotten the issue resolved with Precision Pro yet but will edit this if/when I do.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  2 года назад

      So one thing I've learned is that it takes 3 full battery cycles to get the battery up to full capacity, its just a limitation of the battery. So my guess is yours should be getting pretty close, and you shouldn't have any issues with that moving forward.

    Hey great video! I currently still use a Leupold gx4 and still happy with it. The one feature I liked the most was the continuous reading while holding down the fire button. It's so helpful for shooting the right object and not what's front or behind and shaky hands. Does the pro xe do that (or any others)?

  • @Shakester71
    @Shakester71 2 года назад

    I’ve had Bushnells, Nikons and even a TecTecTec. I currently use a Cobalt Q6 Slope and it’s the best rangefinder I’ve ever had. It’s not perfect. I wish I can see an unadjusted vs adjusted distance at the same time. With the slope turned on, you’d see one number and that is the adjusted yardage. Took me awhile to get use to. It’s build quality is tremendous. It’s a meaty feeling piece of equipment. The optics are some of the clearest I’ve seen and it zeros in on pins with speed and ease. It’s pricey at $450. I got mine at a time they had a sale so I paid less. I have friends who has Garmins, Nikons and Bushnells. They’ve tried my Cobalt and are impressed with the functioning and clarity that they may switch.

    A couple nice features of Precision Pro rangefinders that didn't get mentioned, even at their value end:
    A. The company provides free battery replacement for life. Just register your product, ping them online when you need it and a battery shows up in the mail a few days later. Very nice.
    B) The company offers you trade in credit when you want to upgrade. Honestly, you'd probably do better selling it, but if you don't want to fool with that hassle, PP will give you a trade in allowance toward a new rangefinder.
    When choosing between rangefinders at that price point, those customer service type of features might be the thing that helps drive the decision!

    I am seriously looking into the newest shot scope pro rangefinder. It allows you to connect the H4 to your rangefinder with a magnetic so you have both laser and GPS in one unit at about half the cost.any way my two cents

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  Год назад +1

      My knock on that is that if you want to use Shot Tracking, its the H4 system, which means you need to manually tag each shot. I think the V3 is much better, since its automatic. Full review here: breakingeighty.com/shot-scope-pro-lx-review

      @@breakingeighty I read your review and I really enjoyed it. I got an early Christmas gift and it was the H4. I have been playing golf for about four months now and have been using golf shot with my Apple Watch who he’s drives my son nuts due to the time I am using my phone/ watch. The H4 was a wonderful, I was able to play and think about anything but golf. The tap before a swing was not a problem for me. I even kept score the old fashioned way( score card and pencil) with that said I do see your point that Shot Scope would hit it out of the park if they can manage to include the automatic shot tracking capability into the H4 that way it stay attached to the rangefinder. Maybe in the H5, however I am truly loving this system so far and the no subscription was a big factor in asking Santa for this. Thanks again for reply. Oh I read your review on the Zep swing analysis and I think I might add that to my growing golf list

    Great stuff! I’m currently trying the Garmin Z82…not overly impressed…three buttons on top get confusing having to remember every time and no stabilization…I’m going to try the SL2, R1, and some others that do GPS. I actually like the charging capability versus batteries. I think if you’re going to pay for a range finder, you MUST have it give you distance to the front, middle, and back. That is far more important for amateurs (and pros to be honest). The Bushnells are great, but without GPS capability, way overpriced.

    I have the Nikon “stabilizer” range finder - I chose it for the optics, I am over 60 and need the magnification help. In general it is accurate with a very big BUT… - this “stabilization “ feature will, all too often, lock in with what seems to be a half closed shutter on a camera , I see only some hint of the view at the top of the viewfinder and I have to give it a minute to reset and try it again - I have also had several instances on course where the flag detection locked in but, I believed the yardage, and ended up hitting a perfect shot 20yds too long into the woods behind the green (uuugghh) - this is probably due to the fact that the focus ring has been stuck and unusable since the day I bought it. - overall, this expensive range finder has been a big disappointment, unfortunately for me (yes, shame on me for not reaching out to the manufacturer for help)

    My slope stopped working after they fell from the cart to the floorboard. If you hit a bump, the magnet WILL not hold and they WILL fall. After calling bushnell about my XE, they wanted the sales receipt of course, which I didn’t have. They work great, until they fall. Much cheaper rangefinders with same features, check RUclips videos on side by side comparisons. All bushnell will do is sell you a new pair for 20% off retail.

Initial impressions are that your eye has to be perfectly centered on the eyepiece or the edges of the screen start to go out of focus due to the curvature of the diopter lense (not the display). It seems like small movements up/down/left/right start taking the screen out of focus starting at the edge. Not sure if you noticed this as well?
