    I would suggest that for us older guys, and there are a few of us, things like stabilization and magnification are important. Would love to see a 7x or even 8x, and/or stabilization in a straightforward rangefinder.

    • @sraynes61
      @sraynes61 Месяц назад

      I agree. Lack of stabilization in most products seems crazy. And for those of us that walk a course our own heartbeat can interfere with tacking the flag

    I bought the TL-1 based on his prior video. Once I replaced the included battery with a new name brand cell it has been rock solid. Love the slope function. 5 stars.

      @@breakingeighty I’m in Canada so had to work some shipping wizardry to get the rock bottom price. It was worth it. I also bought the Ecco Biom G5 shoes based on your recommendation and they have been excellent too. Keep up the good work!

    I purchased the TL1 based on your recommendation. My satisfaction rating is 8.5/10. The knockdown on the rating is twofold. First is with the flag lock - it works well unless small obstructions are in the way, like high native grasses. It will pick up on the top of the grass - using common sense it is recognizable and reshoot it trying to avoid the interference. The second miss is not having the capability to utilize flag pole reflectors.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  4 месяца назад

      I think that's a pretty fair assessment! Although, can you elaborate on not being able to use the flag pole reflectors? Wasn't aware of that being an issue with this one, but now very curious!

    I am slowly working my way up in price/features on rangefinders. However, I do have a GPS device on my trolley all the time which gives me approximate yardages
    I started with a BOBLOV basic rangefinder, which I still use for competitions. It is cheap, very cheap (c.$50) it has no features, no flag lock, no stabilisation, no slope reading but it is accurate and uses USB charging.
    I recently moved up to a Chinese knock-off Cigman for $80. It is small, it has slop reading, flag lock and I can adjust the magnification. The software is cr*p (who needs speed reading on a golf range finder), confusing but it works, it is accurate and again uses US charging. What surprised me was the build quality, of course at this price it is mostly plastic but it is robust and comes with a very good case.
    TBH other than stabilisation, and my hands are not that shaky (yet!), not seeing a reason to spend more than that

    I loved my x3 but it had some graphics moved off the screen so they replaced it with an X3+. still the best range finder on the market but i dont use it for wind,. The accuracy, speed and the 7x magnification are the most important features to me, I also use a garmin s70. if only the z30 was out before i bought my x3 i would own that for sure. Now gamin just needs to up the app game to compete with arccos and shotscope as its not close to either of those when it comes to stats.

    • @petegalindez9961
      @petegalindez9961 4 месяца назад +1

      I’ve been using it for a while…no issues with the GPS without the phone in my pocket. That said, you need to be close to the phone because that’s where the GPS distances are measured from…I use a push cart, so I’m normally with my phone…if you are playing cart path in a cart, then I see it could be an issue…

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  4 месяца назад +1

      I actually still really like the KLYR! If it fits with what you're looking for, definitely go for it. The reason I left it off this was simply because there's been a number of other products that have dropped their price, and offer a little bit more for around the same money. I could pretty easily switch out the Blue Tees for the KLYR in this ranking, but the Blue Tees got the nod for being slightly cheaper after discounts.

    I rarely bother with my (bulky) rangefinder any more - I am using my Bushnell Ion Elite gps slope-adjusted watch - find it's way more user friendly - it's always with you and as accurate as I need. I don't want/need apps or stats or any other bs. KISS principle. And like all electronic devices, if you wait a year, there's something better and cheaper.

    I e noticed in all your videos that having a magnet is a big deal. I don’t like losing expensive things I buy and we get maybe 5-10 turned in at our proshop every week because they left it attached to the cart. We end every years with multiple dozens that never get claimed. Cary bags come with pockets now and they all fit in your back pocket easily when standing by your ball prepping to shoot. And honestly we really need to get away from driving a cart so much in America. Slow life down and walk the course. For your health…. Rant over but your reviews are interesting

      Honestly, it's just because I haven't fully tested it myself. I only used it for about 10 minutes at the PGA Show. And while solid, I actually found the Laser Fit to be a bit easier to use from a triangulation standpoint. But CaddyTalk wins on build quality.

    You WAY over-value a magnet or no magnet. 50% of the golfers around the world walk or push cart golf anyways. Getting your yards without standing over the ball all the time is litterly one of the greatest attributes in all finders. How many times do we need to see distances around a dog leg or around a bush or up a hill blindly? CaddyTalk and Laser Fit should both be top 3
