- They tell you everything, c'mon, you fell for such a classical clickbait.
This is a short podcast about getting to #AI #Residency program by any of major AI #Research players. As you can find yourself, there is nothing different from getting to any research position. Just be a good specialist and, what is very important, be able to demonstrate it!

lol.. thanks for the honesty. hope to join you soon!
Hi Oleksii, Thanks for sharing. Also for the coding interview for AI residency, how hard are the questions? Are they as hard as Google SWE roles (leetcode hard)? Or much simpler. I knew it may be biased but would like to hear your experience. Thanks
Carrie Hi, I have a recent video particularly about interview in details. You should do leetcode but not super hard, medium is sufficient.
Great channel! Can you talk more about the research / ml interview?
Oh, thanks! Got you, will add it to the list.
Great video
Damn I think you were selected due to your sense of humor... Liked.
Leave your questions and I'll address them in the future videos.
How to get into Google AI Residency?
Thanks for sharing. Please share more.
Hi! That's a cool video. Do I need to have publications in large ML conferences to get into an AI residency?
Hi, not necessarily but at least some publications is better to have
Can you make an exclusive video on what are the questions asked in a residency program interview and how to prepare for them? I think this will help a lot to a young aspirant like me and will definitely buy some views.
I afraid it will not make much sense. Firstly, they will never repeat, secondly, all typical coding tasks you can find on leetcode. That's basically what they tell to prepare. For research interview you just need to know YOUR previous research works and your plans/ideas for future.
Is classical algorithm like binary trees got asked in the interview? I stopped practicing them after data structure & algorithm class, god know when i'll be using it again lol
Maybe not the most trivial ones, but their modification - yes. You should remind them when preparing to the interview as well as basic data structures an so on. Nobody uses them irl, but this a standard for coding interview.
Hi Oleksii, is it possible to get interviewed for AI residency programs without any paper in AI? I am currently doing a master's degree in statistics and am relatively new to the field of ML/AI. What are some practical ways that you would recommend to show my potential in the field (like showcasing side-projects on Github I guess)?
Hi, having Master degree is already good. Also there is plenty of time to the next year of applications so you fairly can write some paper and submit it (just having it submitted is already good). Another thing which may have value is internship experience.
@@OleksiiSidorov That's very encouraging! Thank you :)!
Can international students doing their masters in CS with ML specialization in US apply for AI residency program?
Do you recommend that I apply to a residency program even if I’m 90% sure I would not like to get a PhD one day?
Hey, does AI residency offer full time AI job? And also want to know about those who are in such countries where there is no branch of FAANG. How Will be the onsite interview process of them?
How many papers(in top tier confs/journals like CVPR, NIPS, ICML etc) did you have when you apply for FB AI Residency?
At that time I had 2 papers submitted to CVPR which I listed in my CV.
Oleksii Sidorov Do you have any idea of the average no of papers people who got accepted have?
Sumanth Nandamuri I think it's somewhere between 0 and 1, this is really not a point. If you would have a good number of top conferences you would be intervied for RS, not a resident. Here they seek more for diversity and potential.
@@OleksiiSidorov Thanks, Can you give some insight on compensation of a resident, like compared with an entry level SWE?
@@sumanthnandamuri2168 Very similar I would say, maybe a liiitle bit less. I heard it is bigger in Google. but still it is very good and there are a lot of expenses covered.
Are you suggesting that, even if you have no research paper in top journals but in some international journal and have a strong Cover letter describing your work and how passionate you are, then you will be accepted?
Nothing can guarantee that you will be accepted.
But you got it right, in FAIR very few residents have some strong publications. This is surely not the main criterium.
@@OleksiiSidorov I am an undergrad, having 2 research journals in Neural Computing and Applications under review. That will be published soon. What should be my strategy to get accepted?
@@subratswain6775 Prepare your CV, put there as much as possible and submit. Don't be modest on achievements. Nothing else really to prepare. If you do Neuroscience I would also suggest training coding.
What language is it?
Can I ask for the cover letter (and the resume) you used to get your position ?

@@OleksiiSidorov Wow.. thank you
@@OleksiiSidorov Thanks!
I dont go to engineering college, but I learn and study online from moocs. Is there a way that i can get an AI residency without a real college degree?
Roohan probably, but then you need to have really strong skills and research experience
@@OleksiiSidorov Does 'research experience' include self projects ? Please inform me know how can some someone like me how learns online can make progress in the direction of "research" ?Do I have to go to university for that?
Roohan Not necessarily, but it would help. By research I mean publishing academic papers
Is it possible for an undergrad to get a job at Facebook AI?
If yes, how?
Having at least MS definitely would be a plus. Apart from that, you can always be a software engineer with BS only. Even in Facebook AI, there are some SE role, mostly in applied research
@@OleksiiSidorov Thank you so much.
And thanks for connecting on LinkedIn.
Are u a machine learning engineer?
You can call it so
What is AI residency?
Just google, too long to explain
