Hey, thanks for sharing. As a early stage researcher in medical imaging processing myself, with some DL. I wondering will it be possible to enter this industry? In computer vision completely with DL approches?
Thanks for the great video! How would you rate the chances of switching from AI research to a more applied role? Is this fairly easy and are a lot of people doing this? Or do companies usually not hire people who previously have been doing research and now want a more applied role?
I would say if you know algorithms and data structures to pass an interview - company will be happy to hire ex-researcher. Going from applied to research is much harder

I've been out of school for a while working as a software engineer. Any recommendations on where to start understanding AI research and how to get into a PhD for AI.
Which book do you think any data science /ml researcher should read? I mean, I know about Bishop, Géron, but, which other books are important?
Carlos Alfredo Vergara Rojas It evolves so quickly that people don't really able to write good books. For classic ML theory it is better..
Though, I would recommend notes from CS231 in Stanfrod and Karpathy' blog, these are really good resources.
I'm worrying about that if i become ML engineer then my knowledge is relatively shallower in respect of ML than researchers so that easily replaceable. Isn't it true?
It isn't necessarily bad. It may be shallower in one particular topic but it's also broader and much more practical and useful. Researchers usually not very good in all but one topic, and they can't even build a software with it. So I wouldn't worry

Actully i wanted to know that my background in academics is Commerce(finance+management) but my mind always drown in AI , can you tell me Data science/analytic/research kinda things is good for me or not?
good for you? perhaps only you can answer that. but i will say 3 things: 1. you will have to learn everything yourself over a long period of time in systematic manner(~10-12months) unless you want to go back to school(in which case the barrier only getting good college admits)(side note: if you decide to self-lear getting into web3 might be A LOT easier than traditional swe roles bc there are simply too many good applicants w an engg degree in india so look for niche roles) 2. you will need self determination and perseverence to gradually learn Data Science/Anayltics. (good) research roles are incredibly competitive esp in ML/AI. 3. see if you like analytics, its a reasonable low effort-high return-high successrate option out of all 3.
yea i knew ai researcher/scientist would be stressful cause u always need to be creative.... Thinking , making something new , something never made before is hard. im still in uni and i still would like to you know enjoy my life by playing games.. do u think i will have time for that ? and do u think u r making enough money ?(not like that was ur goal but do u think u r being rewarded for the work u have put in)
I would advise finding work which you like, then you won't have issues with money. Researchers make enough, but not more then a regular SWE, so for money you can find something better.

What is ml engineer?
ML engineers do not need to do research. That's all. So they don't care about papers and citations, but just work on particular product or problem. I feel like engineering is less stressful but there you need to be good at engineering;)

I have just graduated from high school and is about to choose a specialization in a undergrad CSE. I chose AI/ machine learning. I don't know if I have a researchers approach.
But I know small things about yourself. When I hear about the thing I love ( Programming)
1) undying desire
2)hunger to learn more
3)delve deep into the depths in the subject area.
Right now I have no experience with AI, but only with basic java, python programming. Do you think I should go for AI research?

If my research is in No based Physics, then will there be a coding interview for AI residency or not?
Since this is an AI Residency and not Physics Residency - there most probably will be coding interview
