I totally agree🎸 RIP Alvin Lee! His Woodstock performance of Going Home is a fantastic performance of his band & his solo+ vocals! Too Damn Mean For ever🎸
The late, extremely great Alvin Lee! The man who played faster than his shadow. There's a reason that Alvin Lee for years sported the two nicknames "Captain Speedfingers" and "Fastest Guitar In The West."
@herbertvonzinderneuf8547 I don't, for sure. And evidently you don't either. But many people are unfamiliar with Alvin Lee and Ten Years After. When I talk to someone about music and they tell me that they have never heard of TYA, I immediately know that they aren't very knowledgeable about Blues Rock!
Always loved 😍 that cherry red Gibson of his. Alvin's one of my influences. This month l finally got my cherry 335 gibson. If l could only play it like Mr. LEE!😁
Seen him at the T party club in Boston 1970 oh 1971 causeway Street cross Fenway park now the House off blues arrows Smith would also Play there a few Times Great show comforting memories. RIP Alvin
Went to see Alvin at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT at some point in the 90's. Not only was it a great show, but I got to meet him because he was standing in the middle of the crowd right next to me watching the opening band.
Ten Years After - recorded live is an AWESOME album. Definitely a top ten in my album collection. Alvin Lee was one of the best guitarists 🎸 ever. R.I.P.
I saw Ten Years After in about 1973. They blew the roof off the Memorial Coliseum in Portland. By the way, Bassist Leo Lyons now has a RUclips channel. It's free and if you're like me and still living in the 70s you'll love it.
I got to see him around '90. It was a small club in Baltimore. He brought it 100%. Getting to see Alvin in an intimate setting was an amazing previlage for me. I'm pretty sure I smiled through every moment of his show. Great guitar tone from his trademark 335 into his Marshall stacks. Awesome!
Saw him two times at The Stone on Broadway in S.F. Maybe 600 people . A guy who played a long career in stadiums . And comes out to just play , for had to be way lower dollars .And kicked the shit out of things.
Was that HammerJacks? if so, I thought it was in 89 and they opened up with Rock n Roll Music to the World. That was the best TYA show I ever saw. They sounded just like the Recorded Live record in 72 that night.
@@dickgoesinya9419 No, it was actually an intimate setting which was awesome. Stage was only about a foot high (low ceiling) that was just a few doors down from a club I was bartending at in Fell's Point. I'd recognize the name if I heard it (on the tip of my tongue). It was on the corner of S. Broadway and Aliceana . I'm sure it's long gone, but it was sure great. Great time in my life. I really enjoyed Baltimore. They had a great music scene and I was in the thick of it. I loved Hammerjacks and saw some great shows there. Probably my favorite, was one that caught me off guard at how strongly they rocked - The Smithereens. Epic live show! My respect for them went off the charts after that one show.
Got to see TYA 4 or 5 times in the early to mid 70's....always just damn awsome...Looks like Alvin didnt miss a step through the 90's either...RIP one of the all time greats
Jimmy Page said it best, ( if I had yo pay to see a guitarist it would be Alvin Lee ) he influenced everyone around him. He be on ever greatest guitar players list. RIP Alvin and thanks for all the great music.
@Jimmy Warburton, for the same reason he never even gets mentioned among Rolling Stone Magazine's top 100 guitarists of all time, POLITICS! He makes my top 5 all-time greatest guitarists from the classic rock era all day long and twice on Sunday along with (in no particular order) Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duane Allman, Jimi Hendrix, & Johnny Winter.
I served in Nuremburg Germany in 1971-'72. Went to one of his concerts nearby. Standing room only so we sat in the large hollow boxes on which the loud speakers were on the stage. I looked over at Alvin and was he pissed! He didn't tell us to get out of the boxes but he was not happy. He was probably afraid we'd knock over the equipment. We behaved and the concert was great.
Loved Alvin Lee, “One these days boy”.., “Love to change the World” we’re some of the greatest songs ever, absolutely terrible he had to pass, You we’re one of the badest guitarist ever..,!!!!🥲👍
I'm 68 yrs.old, fan since I was 14, best guitarist around then and still would be if he was alive.
In my humble opinion Alvin Lee is one of the giants of Rock n' Roll whether he was solo or with his great band Ten Years After. PEACE!
ALVIN LEE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITARIST EVER. HIMSELF AND TEN YEARS AFTER SHOULD BE IN THE ROCK HALL OF FAME. RIP ALVIN.
I agree! He and Johnny Winter both should be in. That is why the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is nothing more than a bad joke!
Yeah ! Himself!
RE Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductions: AGREED 💯% for BOTH Alvin Lee and Johnny Winter!!!

Smoked lots of weed spinning vinyl and listening to 10 Years After. Still one of my guitar heros!
ALVIN LEE a true blues and Rock n Roll Maestro! Another huge miss by the pathetic Rock Hall of Fame 😞
THE MAN IS THE BEST ,HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN 😊😊
He arrived on the scene right about when I started to play professionally. Every guitarist I knew was in awe of his his skill.
My first concert was Ten Years After at Winterland SF. I was 14. Been a fan all my life. The GOAT
The late, extremely great Alvin Lee! The man who played faster than his shadow. There's a reason that Alvin Lee for years sported the two nicknames "Captain Speedfingers" and "Fastest Guitar In The West."

🎉one of the best bands, ever!!
Blues Rock done the right way!!!!!. Alvin Lee is one of,.. IF not the most underrated guitarist ever. 🎸
playing techniques were way ahead of everyone from that era,
NOBODY EVER UNDERRATED ALVIN !!!!

I like how he just stepped in,and started playing, drowning out the show hosts,he was there to rock,as always
Yeah, the clueless hosts. I’m surprised they didn’t try to stop him.
HIs performance of Goin' Home at Woodstock is unforgettable!
Yes it was great music.
Nothing comes close.
He stole the entire show IMO.
Alvin Lee ocuupies the place of honor in the pantheon of the Best guitarists ( harmonic) of all time , Rest in Peace 🎸🎸🥁🎹
Always loved 😍 that cherry red Gibson of his. Alvin's one of my influences. This month l finally got my cherry 335 gibson. If l could only play it like Mr. LEE!😁
After this show, this particular show back in April 94, Alvin Lee signed my copy of Recorded Live by Ten Years After. He was a nice guy, what a loss.
Wow great story thanks for sharing
Don't understand why this man isn't in the hall and other's are who doesn't deserve to be nothing but respect 🕊️ and lots of 🎶💕💙
Alvin Lee, I’m going Home, Woodstock. He’s a beast!!!
At Woodstock, his guitar solo, in my opinion, is the greatest guitar solo of rock & roll!!
Seen him at the T party club in Boston 1970 oh 1971 causeway Street cross Fenway park now the House off blues arrows Smith would also Play there a few Times Great show comforting memories. RIP Alvin
I agree I was there too!
R.I.P you were so ahead of your time.
Rock it in heaven.
It was a tragedy when you passed away.the greatest of all.
Imagine Alvin Lee Gary Moore Rory Gallagher jamming together wouldn't that have been a show

A showhost talking thru the intro of I’m Going Home, Sacrilege!!!
Went to see Alvin Lee at Winterland in SF in the late 60's. Got grounded for a month. Worth it.
Alvin basically told the host to shut the ef up with his guitar....love it 🙂
he may have passed away but he sure Keeps On Rockin'...

Because it's all BS!
@@musicmike1960 perhaps because he played good old rock`n roll.
They are in much better places.

Real rock n roll ✌🏼
Love this one, I bet him and Status Quo could have put on one hell of a show.
ROCK N ROLL NEVER GETS OLD…IT JUST KEEPS ON ROCKING👣
Some of his greatest guitar work is in " I woke up this morning" and " turn of tv blues"
Some great work in "50,000 miles..." too.
Rock on! Now you and Albert Järvinen can rock together.
I like how they just started jamming to song 3, interrupting that guy. RIP Alvin Lee.
But the guy got over it quickly & started rockin' too !
