One of the top guitarist of all time! Ten Years After is a joke now still playing with the other three original members. You can't replace a legend.....He was the juice that moved them on...this tune is so powerful!
Absolutely amazing I remember watching night of the guitar in the 80s as a teen,I'm 54 and still enjoying god bless you Alvin you brought all of us guitar fans such joy. This instrumental will echo an eternity
Alvin pour moi c le roi de la guitare et des solos et des ten years after et des années 70 merci pour tout ton apport nous avons grandi sur toutes tes mélodies de blues tu resteras un très grand!
Add a comment. What the fuck can you say after watching that. Probably the most underated guitarist of all time. Clapton would have run in fear watching that!!
Criminaly underated people always talked about Clapton this guy was as good as it gets along with great facial expressions , Alvin Lee n ten years after at Woodstock was legendary!
100% agree with you. Alvin Lee was capable to play all Hendrix and Clapton repertory so easily. Hendrix and Clapton could never play non of Alvin Lee's fast, complex, exquisit guitar solos. RÄ
His death has hardly been mentioned on the news,So sad, An absolute guitar legend, cosmicforcemusic, I did with Ten years he was awesome RIP Alvin thanks for the memories.
Mind blowing performance! Alvin is my absolute favourite guitarist and classic TYA is my favourite band since the 60/70th. By the way: Alvin wrote all the classic songs from TYA. What a great musician! May he rest in peace!
Alvin, you were one fine Captain speedfingers your guitar work as well Ten Years After music gave me a lot of inspirations now you went home and the world Can't Keep From Crying Sometimes, R.I.P from Slovenia
Got here through watching Leslie West. I wonder how many watching saw Alvin doing the rounds in Nottingham in the mid 60's. Then they were The Jaybirds and their Commer van was often seen around. Amazing days and they even played at my old school !
Alvin was the real deal and was me and my dads favorite performance with his group Ten Years After in the movie Woodstock with I'M GOING HOME.. One of my all time favorite albums SPACE IN TIME still rules..RIP ALVIN...
thats great, i miss u alvin. this is the music i want to hear. iam 28 of age, and still TYA Fan since childhood. @lady gaga, katy perry...... there was also a real music ;-)
Sencillamente sublime.
Master. Excellent guitar Player, advanced to his time at the early 70's. So sorry for the Jimi Hendrix super fans, but respectfully, Alvin at that same time (Hendrix best period 1967-1970), was absolutely superior in guitar technics, instrument knowledge, and, of course, speed. Hendrix was a highly creative Rock composer, a Pioneer, as a highly creative original guitar "explorer". His early dead caused such an impact, that the Myth was built as "the best guitar player". But for those who sincerely undrstand this instrument, he was not. Being long term Jimmi fan, I cannot compare him with Alvin Lee's excellence. Is like to say that BB. King was better guitarrist that Steve Vai. RÄ
Yes, saw the Liverpool gig at the Royal Court theatre - what a night ! Alvin Lee was the star in every sense - I remember him blazing away on this wonderful track, and now it’s not even listed on Spotify.....
a great guitarist , little recognized as many are . Not rock but listen to Illenberger & Kolbe , 'Ball in Play. they were recording in the late 70s early 80s , Steffan Schackinger , Callum Graham etc so many with little exposure by the mainstream . Play on Alvin
Who the 'F' is this guy! And why have I not been listening to him for who knows how long. One of quite a few blues players apparently. At my ripe old age of 58. Life is long!
I cannot believe the comments that are speaking of Alvin to Hendrix. Are you kidding me? Alvin Lee was the forerunner of SHRED guitarists. Of course you young people who dont know the term "shred"..........uh, look it up. I aint doing your homework for you. Sure, Hendrix was different, but DAMN Alvin Lee was different and he was the first player I heard in 1970 that made me go "OH MY GOD!" FAST FAST FAST! And Hendrix could NOT do that. He was the first shred! I love Malmsteen, Impelliteri, Stump, Paul Gilbert, etc. But Alvin Lee was the first shredder! No question!
This guy was a giant in his day. He did not care who was the greatest, he just played his ass off. I would put him next to Jimi any time of the day. Sad the media did not cover a giant of a guy.
I love Alvin Lee but I think it's a bloody shame that some people here can't grasp Jimi's greatness and through their ignorance think they should say stupid things about Jimi. Alvin was great, very fast and a good singer but he was no Jimi Hendrix. I get it if you prefer Alvin's style but don't make such uneducated comments.
For some reason the rest of my comment didnt post. So I was saying about the great shredders of today...Malmsteen, Impelliterri, Stump, et al. It was Alvin Lee who set the mark. Just like Beatles set the mark about guitar bands. And Chuck Berry said the mark for Rock and Roll!
That my friends is Guitar 101 ! Awsome
rest in peace to one of the greatest guitarists of all time
One of the top guitarist of all time! Ten Years After is a joke now still playing with the other three original members. You can't replace a legend.....He was the juice that moved them on...this tune is so powerful!
Alvin Lee was a phenomenon. He managed to combine speed without forgetting the melody.
Was??? No way has he passed.... please he is still alive????
@@Bazza8199 he died sadly
Yes Alvin Lee was beyond and above the normal. He was a master and a god.
Absolutely amazing I remember watching night of the guitar in the 80s as a teen,I'm 54 and still enjoying god bless you Alvin you brought all of us guitar fans such joy. This instrumental will echo an eternity
@@Bazza8199È morto nel 2013 purtroppo a causa di un intervento chirurgico di routine così dicono le cronache....😢
This guy was doing "Shred" before shred was invented. But with the Blues always in there. RIP Mr. Lee and thanks for giving us your gift.
Such a talent
One the greatest guitarists of all time!
That is true.

is the only version i know of this song, i didn't even found the cd version.
No question - the man could play with excellence. His performances will live on.

His death has hardly been mentioned on the news,So sad, An absolute guitar legend, cosmicforcemusic, I did with Ten years he was awesome RIP Alvin thanks for the memories.
Definitely one of the Top 5 guitarists of all time.
Alvin Lee and Prince are probably tied as my favorite guitarists. Alvin Lee tuning his voice to his guitar never ceases to amaze me.
Lord have mercy. Alvin passed away to a better world. God bless him.
Mind blowing performance! Alvin is my absolute favourite guitarist and classic TYA is my favourite band since the 60/70th. By the way: Alvin wrote all the classic songs from TYA. What a great musician! May he rest in peace!

Always felt this guy never got the attention he rightly deserved. Rock on Alvin !
I heard this song as opener to Guitar Speak CD in late 80s and thought it was awesome. Still do!
Keep coming back to play this
Straight up badass, one of the best EVER!!!!

I love how he plays the hollowbody guitar - nobody plays like this using a hollowbody any more (but they used to)!

O guitarrista mas substimado da história?
(O que vocês acham?)
Alvin died? Was this publicized at all? That's terrible. He truly was a remarkable guitar player, and often doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
