I've seen him several times an never disappoints. Smoked a bud with him at the LA Forum...He lit the place on fire that night! Another great show was in Honolulu at the HIC...So many shows! Can we go back now?
@@bluestriad I was living in Indiana working on a neighboring farm and they had a college age son. It was probably around 70-71. I was 14 and we'd smoke pot together and he played Ten Years After Crickelwood Green album. First time I'd really gotten into Alvin. I'd heard the Woodstock performance earlier and was hooked.
I had that experience once, though different artists. Went to see Eric Clapton, Graham Parker opened. Having seen EC before, I knew he couldn't touch that, so I left before he came on.
I’ve been hooked on Alvin’s guitar work and songs since I first started hearing them about 1973 or so. This tune… so aptly titled IS the Bluest Blues as it brings out waves of emotions every single time I listen. George’s slide solo is hauntingly sad but mellow (melancholy?) and builds the emotion in to the next verses. Alvin’s solo at the end is an absolute sonic and emotional rollercoaster ride of highs and lows, brilliant light and deepest darks, screams and wails that tear at your gut until it leaves you a mess holding your head in hands at the end…. Wishing that there was more! Absolutely brilliant. You must listen through headphones or earbuds to feel the deepest emotions. It’s shocking.
Back in the day Alvin could cram as many notes into a bar of music and shred with the best of em . Here he slows it down and lets it flow . Well done Alvin Lee !
This puts me in another dimension. Midway through, the guitar work is mesmerizing. Yeah, the wine helps, too, but even without, it is the essence of blues. Thank you, Alvin Lee and George Harrison...somewhere in the great beyond.
ME too, know what you mean by another dimension. The last guitar riff is unbelievable. Never fails to mesmerise me every time - its a spritual experinece. I know every note foreground and background. The greatest riff of all time
@@barbhansen1378 thanks, i would have guessed earlier.not sure when he left ten years after.he wanted to take the band to blues but the band didnt want to so he left.good song with good guitar playing
First time I hear this song, extraordinay solo and melody. Thank to all these extraodinary musicians for this outstanding musical experience. Thanks Alvin for gathering these guys to play together.
I was lucky to see Alvin and Ten Years After in the 70s at Winterland, San Francisco.. The sidewalk would rumble as you walked closer and closer to the venue.. WOW, Thank you alvin... AKA Captian Speedy Fingers. Still miss you.
This song is one of the greatest blues songs ever written. The lyrics and the guitar work are amazing, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a person going through a heartbreak. The sadness in the lyrics is too much to handle, for someone going through something like that. The tears will not stop flowing.
I went through a very rough breakup about 4 years ago, and this song (among others) did a lot to help me through it. Sometimes those tears need to flow for the hurt to start to heal... The song is absolutely beautiful and it has a special meaning to me, in a good way today.

Jeff Beck, the guitar players guitarist must be blown away with this masterpiece. It’s simply timeless even tho I’ve been listening to it for the past 5 decades.
@@xmandlt This is a true statement. Alvin's solo is competent run-of-the mill flash but rock is saturated with that kind of solo, it could just about be anyone. George's is a sweet and unique "voice" that Beck would appreciate, having a guitar "voice" of his own. By "voice" I mean you can tell who's playing straight away.
Again, I'm taken to a place that is beyond description. I can literally feel the pain in his voice. Very few songs can capture that level of truth. Doesn't hurt that the best of the beatles is involved! I hurt just listening! Arguably best ever blues song..............😢
Beautifully done, George’s slide solo is tasty and smooth, Alvin’s outro solo is simply magnificent. It has never been done better! RIP Alvin and George.
Alvin Lee once said that George (with his tender slide solo) has set the feel of the outro solo. Otherwise it would have been a more mediocre blues song.
I doubt many people have ever heard George on the slide..... Takes my breath away listening to him play. May He Rest In Peace Forever!!!!!! Not to take away from Alvin. Loved Ten Years After!!!!!
Alvin and George left us like a shooting star in the night leaving behind a trace that is about a million miles. I guess God wants the best for him and leaving us with memories. RIP Alvin and George.
Greatest guitar solo ever from George Harrison - FANTASTIC - followed by a super-excellent Alvin workout. It came on the radio as I was driving through Walton-on-Thames in I think '93 after it came out and I had to stop the car - a magic moment.
RIP Alvin Lee. One of the greates Songs in the world of Blues and Rock. I'm so happy to grown up in these times and being young. Now i'm an old man over sixty, but to hear the music and those bands of the 70' and early 80' hold me young. Thanks Alvin and the other great bands
So much great talent from England back then that Alvin almost slides under the radar but in every way he was a giant. Blues to the max and pure talent.
i was 16 in 1969/70, had a 8 track tape, but didnt realize how damm good this band was, memories, i dont feel any music of today comes close to music back then,
This is no exaggeration. I've listened to this song every day for 4 years. It's the most moving guitar solo I've ever heard. The song was written by the great Ray Charles. Amazing!!
@@williamcassidy3824 I believe that I was wrong. I looked it up and the only credit given for the song are to Alvin Lee. So I guess Ray Charles didn't write it after all.
I agree, they are in my list of favorite musicians in my life. Truly incredible, always,I love both their solos on this song. Great alvin Lee and why he's not in the hall of fame I'll never understand
George's slide on here is pretty as guitar can get, but Alvin's 3 1/2 min blues ride to carry the song out is just epic. Some of the nicest guitar blues ever recorded. Timeless.
Alvin was a fast repetitious blues/rock guitarist. George Harrison was a great musician and song writer. Just to make a point here. Harrison added to the song greatly.
Man oh man, can I identify with this song. At the age of 69, it brought back memories of a disaster I created in my life many years ago. I messed up and lost the love of my life. She will never be forgotten.
I’ve always loved Alvin’s “Love to Change the World” since I was a kid in the 60s. That song is epic, and the Bluest Blues simply stated is: GENIUS ❤️❤️❤️
Eisblume.......
Ah I'd love to change the world definitely changed mine. A child of a musician but not touched by his genre. Alvin introduced me to a lifelong love of rock and roll. The blues in particular became and still is the genre that touches my inner most core. Without that artist who knows if I would have that therapeutic blessing called the blues. Thank Alvin. You did change my world.
The most perfect blues ever written in the universe !!!! RIP Mr Alvin LEE, you were one of the best guitarist in this world and RIP Mr Georges Harrison and thank you for the slide guitar part !!!
Absolutely in love with this song, 1 of my favourites. Everything about it; the vocals, the guitar solos, lyrics, emotion and everything is just perfection ❤
Well I have been a fan of Alvin Lee from his beginnings with his group Ten Years After but sincerely this is one of his best guitar solo of all of his career. A great gift for all of us and with the inclusion of Mr. George Harrison was a great compliment. Both in heaven and here in Earth remembered as the greatest...Rest proudly in peace.
I agree, I've been listening to Ten Years After since Woodstock and I have every LP. I wonder if this is a cover (the guitar solo doesn't sound like Captain Speedfingers) similar to all the Beatle music that pops up and people who don't know any better believe it is the Beatles. Still a great song!

I am 66 and Thank You for your service !

Hope there will be more from your generation to wake up and listen good music and the world will be a better place again musically. Keep it up.
BTW , George Harrison does the slide guitar solo, and Alvin does the outro solo.
Still haven't found a better BLUES song than this! So beautiful! RIP Alvin Lee!
dieser blaueste Blues wirkt absolut harmonisch und melancholich schwebend in Sehnsucht, den song noch einmal zu fühlen
The absolute Blues guitar king!
With a great assist from slide guitar Master George Harrison.
Still get goosebumps when his solo starts. Miss you Alvin
Honestly, I think this is one of the best songs ever made

One of the greatest blues riffs I have ever had the pleasure to listen to thanks Alvin
Wow, 10 years After and he comes out with this. So under estimated, what a musician, RIP Alvin, your music lives on with me.
❤💯 I was hooked on Alvin's playing the first time I heard him in 1968, there will never be another Alvin Lee!
Wish I had known him back in 68. Man what a "VERY FINE " Dude.
Not know when I got to listen to Alwyn. But it was like an accident. Since then, it keeps coming and I love to listen.
@Julie The Fillmore in San Francisco TYA sold out 4 nights,

May light be with her... I understand your pain.. we will all go to the same place one day. 🙏 I send you warm wishes
She's here. You can hear her in this music, can't you?
Jimmy brother I lost my wife and my son - all you can do is keep walkin with your head down - God keep you in his hand my brother.
So sorry for your lost, theres no words...try to carry on. Bless you
On the days where I'm at my lowest, those 7½ minutes offer me a temporary escape from reality like no other song will. God bless Alvin Lee for this masterpiece
I saw Alvin live once. He opened for ZZ Top and Journey. I could have went home after his performance. No one else came close.
No one comes close.
It’s shocking.
great comment!!
Still gives me goosebumps 50 years later !
To me too!
Alvin one and Only I love the Guy Quigg Heke
How have I managed to get thus far in life without hearing this. Beautiful.
All that matters is you have heard it now!!
Agreed
its just so good right ? the feelings it washes over me are just delicious welcome to the eargasms lol
The same happened to me ,heard it when i was 56 now its a regular must !!!
The guitars scream out the blues and match the intensity of the lyrics. Love this song...
I never get tired of hearing this great Song !! 😊😊😊😊
One of the best blues songs I have ever heard. Listen to it just about every time I bring my music up.
I don't know how many times I listen to this but it always reaches in side GREAT slide by George and guitars by Alivin this was a magic recording
I love me some Alvin, and George, this was my era I never get tired of it! I pity the young people of today, not knowing what music is supposed to be!
Yes I agree one hundred percent I’ll always love the real music it is a shame how many young people never heard real music and singing!
The young are losing out on this music
I do too. So sad 😞
@@grangrampa832 And they will never know either....
Back in the day Alvin could cram as many notes into a bar of music and shred with the best of em . Here he slows it down and lets it flow . Well done Alvin Lee !
Now I am 67 and I am laying in bed with headphones ! Such memories !!
This puts me in another dimension. Midway through, the guitar work is mesmerizing. Yeah, the wine helps, too, but even without, it is the essence of blues. Thank you, Alvin Lee and George Harrison...somewhere in the great beyond.
@Lucille One of These Days TYA
ME too, know what you mean by another dimension. The last guitar riff is unbelievable. Never fails to mesmerise me every time - its a spritual experinece. I know every note foreground and background. The greatest riff of all time

Agree with the "another dimension" stuff, this song is great.
I totally agree 🥰

First time I hear this song, extraordinay solo and melody. Thank to all these extraodinary musicians for this outstanding musical experience. Thanks Alvin for gathering these guys to play together.
George Harrison on slide....'honorable mention'
very well put!
Tis good to appreciate.
I was lucky to see Alvin and Ten Years After in the 70s at Winterland, San Francisco.. The sidewalk would rumble as you walked closer and closer to the venue.. WOW, Thank you alvin... AKA Captian Speedy Fingers. Still miss you.
One of his best ever songs. Gosh, I really miss Alvin. I never knew I loved you until you went away.
No kidN! It makes me cry & I haven't been heartbroken N looseN a love relationship 4 many years. But if U have been there once, well, ya get over it but U don't ever 4get how deep it hurts! Alvin Lee is my hero!

You can hear the gut wrenching in every note, the depth of the blues in this song is unfathomable. Just like the great void of a broken heart
This is such a deep song. It is Heartfelt. RIP The greatest blues song Ever..
Alvin was ahead of his time. Such heart.💗💗💗
I've always loved Alvin Lee for his guitar playing and his voice! George Harrison is also very good, here on slide!
Jeff Beck, the guitar players guitarist must be blown away with this masterpiece. It’s simply timeless even tho I’ve been listening to it for the past 5 decades.
I sincerely doubt Jeff Beck was 'blown away' with Alvin's playing here. Now George's playing, on the other hand...
The best of the Beatles??
Beautifully done, George’s slide solo is tasty and smooth, Alvin’s outro solo is simply magnificent. It has never been done better! RIP Alvin and George.
❤
It's all right...The Slide and Solo Guitar!
Noooobody plays slide as soulful as George.
Alvin Lee once said that George (with his tender slide solo) has set the feel of the outro solo. Otherwise it would have been a more mediocre blues song.
@@YTRopp both solos, IMHO, are magnificent.

The greatest ax man, blues man. Fitting he is from Nottingham .
Alvin had an epic performance on Woodstock. Santana too but only he got on to stardom. I can't figure why but this business is irrational I guess.
i was 16 in 1969/70, had a 8 track tape, but didnt realize how damm good this band was, memories, i dont feel any music of today comes close to music back then,
This is no exaggeration. I've listened to this song every day for 4 years. It's the most moving guitar solo I've ever heard. The song was written by the great Ray Charles. Amazing!!
I was told it was written by Ray Charles but that doesn't appear to be true. My bad. I was misinformed.
Didn't know that
@@williamcassidy3824 I believe that I was wrong. I looked it up and the only credit given for the song are to Alvin Lee. So I guess Ray Charles didn't write it after all.

George's slide on here is pretty as guitar can get, but Alvin's 3 1/2 min blues ride to carry the song out is just epic. Some of the nicest guitar blues ever recorded. Timeless.
That's what thought, great slide played so well, and a smokin hot outro solo 👍 😁
So agree
Don't you have a watch/clock?
Agree
Alvin was a fast repetitious blues/rock guitarist. George Harrison was a great musician and song writer. Just to make a point here. Harrison added to the song greatly.
I don't care how many times I hear this song; Lee and Harrison's solos just rip my heart out. Epic.
Man oh man, can I identify with this song. At the age of 69, it brought back memories of a disaster I created in my life many years ago. I messed up and lost the love of my life. She will never be forgotten.
Keep on rocking and forget about IT.
Same AS me. Take some dope and newer trust a woman.
Man up. Say you were wrong. I am sorry. Please forgive me.
This song painting a colours of soul....🎼❤️
I’ve always loved Alvin’s “Love to Change the World” since I was a kid in the 60s. That song is epic, and the Bluest Blues simply stated is: GENIUS ❤️❤️❤️
Eisblume.......
Hi rosie
Ah I'd love to change the world definitely changed mine. A child of a musician but not touched by his genre. Alvin introduced me to a lifelong love of rock and roll. The blues in particular became and still is the genre that touches my inner most core. Without that artist who knows if I would have that therapeutic blessing called the blues. Thank Alvin. You did change my world.
Certainly one of the best blues players ever. A lot of fantastic tunes from this man. We miss you Alvin.
The most perfect blues ever written in the universe !!!! RIP Mr Alvin LEE, you were one of the best guitarist in this world and RIP Mr Georges Harrison and thank you for the slide guitar part !!!

George with this silde guitar solo is also The inspiration to Alvin - less 'techincal' solo and more variations of melody and feeling...
Absolutely in love with this song, 1 of my favourites. Everything about it; the vocals, the guitar solos, lyrics, emotion and everything is just perfection ❤

@@larsgzz1 George Harrison plays slide on this one and Alvin said it was so melodic that it inspired him to not play such an "angy" solo.
