I earn my living as a cleaner; the building I work at has elevators with stainless steel interiors. I'm going to try this; I grit my teeth seeing all the marks in the steel. Thank you 😊
Just a heads up, you shouldnt put goo gone on your bare skin. It is a solvent. Had a co-worker using it without gloves on a job consistently. Ended up in the hospital. Wont affect some people right away but it will get to you eventually. It is not good for direct skin contact. Be safe out there.
What about those videos that show you how to repair scratches using 3M Black & Purple pads? I just installed a new Island hood, and the cover up to the ceiling is scratched. I'm guessing that's solid/thin stainless steel?
I clean with dilute Simple Green, dry with microfiber, apply WD 40's white lithium grease sprayed on a cotton rag (a tiny amount) and polish by hand with a circular motion, wipe and polish with a clean soft rag. Best solution so far.
Hello I tried to rub a little scratch out of my stainless fridge using a mild compound now it caused a lighter hazy spot can that be reversed?? Thank you 😪
This is why I clean my ow n home..I have tried to hire people..they either dont do the job, or they ruin things using the wrong cleaner! Thanks I like the product called "Method" for SS
Thank you so much for this video I've been having a hard time cleaning my fridge since I've had it, no matter what I do I always left streaks on it even going with the grain. I was using Windex and Simple Green and a paper towel. I'm about to go to the store and get some stainless steel cleaner and I'll try it with a microfiber cloth when I get home I'm sure it'll work a lot better. Thanks again
Water spots were driving me crazy. I was just looking on here and saw clr is good. I just happened to have some. It worked after a year of mr trying to find something
We are in a rental and so I inherited stainless steel appliances that had rust on them. CLR worked great to take that right off (with a little elbow grease) and did not leave streaks. I also cleaned/rinsed it all off within two minutes, I followed up with another stainless cleaner. It said use water to rinse it off the CLR but that seems counter productive since water moisture was the culprit in the first place. I'm also keeping a microfiber towel (changed daily) in front of my dishwasher vent as well as underneath the icemaker.
For my dishwasher which gets so dirty, I wash with soapy water first, tben use the weyer? Stainless steel cleaner, then polish, or the combination cleaner and polisher (whichever I have). This video is a clean fridge. Mine get dirty with all the hands and junk they leave.
Very nice detailing. First of all, as such Stainless Steel Polish doesn't exist, Its a stainless steel cleaner. Stainless steel is a nonreactive neutral material. What shine it had at the time of manufacturing, you cant get more shine than that. You only have to clean with alkaline cleaner means a cleaner whose pH is more than 10 to 14. Prior to that use Citrate based cleaning material which is acidic in nature & is safe for stainless steel. Always remember Phosphoric acid ( Citric acid or lemons pH is 2) is compatible with Stainless Steel which also helps in removing hard water stains. Never ever use toilet cleaner which contains HCL & will blacken the Stainless Steel. But there is nothing as such Stainless Steel polish.
I have a med size microwave with chrome top and sides. Some minor rust has begun. I’ve always used glass plus for the whole thing inside & out. But lately the guy guy who helps me clean has used a wet rag and just tonight I’ve noticed how bad the chrome looks when I shined my pen light to look around. There a circle marks. I went over one side with a paper towel (bounty) and it’s not looking good at all. Do you think the cleaner your using is gonna help now?
I’ve been using glass plus on my microwave. It has chrome top and sides. I’ve had someone helping me clean & I used my penlight to look at it and it’s not looking good at all. I’m starting to see rust also.
@@chaveznury Never seen that before, thanks! I just tried the “perfect cleaner, half and half white vinegar and water.” I’ve got water spots ALL OVER MY FRIDGE NOW. Yikes! What a mess.
Metal has a grain, but what you’re referring to is a finish. It’s called Florentine in jewelry. Grain is a molecular thing having to do with fabrication. Goo Gone is toxic.
The "grain" is produced by the equivalent of sand paper, or abrasive material. You can use Mother's compound and polish it to a mirror finish if you want to show fingerprints.
I noticed tiny bits of surface rust on our commercial grade stainless steel refrigerator at our church. The unit is only a year old. What could I use to get that off? Stainless steel polish does not take it off.
@@cooper8318 Thank you! Maybe I should use that to get off all the water spots that are now on my fridge because I used a suggestion from somewhere else, vinegar and water, half each. Now the front of my fridge is ruined looking.
@@cooper8318 Thank you! But in desperation and more searching (flipping out over those awful spots!) I ran across a suggestion for Dawn Powerwash. I had that, and I tried it. Thank you though, I appreciate your suggestion and I’ll probably try that for most other times. Dawn is more expensive and the fridge won’t need that every time anyway. I’ll try your Pledge next!

Actually stainless steel is light, compared to mild steel, as it has less iron in it. Don't use strong acids or alkalis as it will tarnish the stainless. Use a window /glass cleaner that contains alcohol and/or glycol ethers, as it will leave a streak free shine.
Question: are you saying SubZero refrigerators are not fully stainless steel? I believe they are and not a just a stainless layer over metal like GE appliances.
@Sarah S he wasn't mansplaining anything. He gave more information that was relevant to the video. If you feel threatened by that enough to make a rude comment when this comment is a year old then go see a therapist for your fragile ego.
WD49 is not good safe and shouldn’t be used in a kitchen. It also gets a fridge dirty faster as the residue attracts dirt. It’s a kitchen and use marks like dings are normal. Putting Bondo on an appliance will look horrific, call more attention than just a dent.
It's simple. Just use soapy water and wipe in the direction of the grain. Squeegee from top to bottom and dry with a new lint free microfiber cloth at a nice. It'll look great, I do this every day for a living. It's not rocket science.
I have no idea on why you made this video you do not know what you're talkin about from the stainless steel to the cleaners, won't go out on a limb and say you decided you wanted to make a video to try to sell less product. Stainless steel Just stains less and they also make very many different grades. Stainless steel comes in thin sheets that they have to put over something but it is not coded on or painted on

Lime Away. Follow the directions explicitly. Works great! A tip from an appliance salesman.

i always use soapy spray water because of grease splatter. just wanted to share since it wasnt mentioned.
Make sure you clean up the soap well though. Some can be corrosive over time.
I use the cleaner and the microfiber and still get streaks!
Virex works as well
Does anything change if the stainless is fingerprint resistant?
You can still use the same techniques
Is there a fix when you screw up and have slight scratches?
What about rubbing alcohol?
I took a shot every time you said "OK". Liver transplant now booked for next week.

Stainless steel does not have a grain in it - stainless steel panels often have a grain - as they are sanded in one direction.

The real question I have is whether or not you can remove small dings in finish with a paintless dent repair kit.
WD40 stinks, leaves a really messy residue and can stain clothes
