- How to Clean Stainless Steel Appliances.. What is the best Cleaner?
There are so many stainless steel cleaners out there promoting they are the best. We show you that regular household items can be the very best.
Here are some tips to help you clean stainless steel:
1. Always use a nonabrasive cloths to wipe down surfaces. Use two cloths, one to clean and one to dry.
2. After choosing a cleaner for your stainless steel, test the cleaner on a small portion of the surface. We recommend an area that is out of sight.
3. Clean parallel to the grain of your stainless steel surface. Going against the grain can create streaks and smudges.
4. When choosing a cleaning solution, stay away from bleach. We often think of bleach first when we think of sanitizing surfaces, but bleach can actually damage stainless steel. Always read the ingredients in cleaning products to avoid traces of bleach.
5. Oil based cleaners are great to make your surfaces shine, but they also attract the most dirt and grime due to the thicker film they leave behind. We recommend water based cleaning solutions.

For the last five years I have used the suggestion that our local Home Depot gave me to keep all of their SS appliances looking good. Pledge furniture polish. Spray it on, wipe it off like you are cleaning any furniture and it is beautiful. The best part is you can just grab a clean, dry towel day to day and wipe over the finger prints and smears and it cleans up easily without reapplying. It says to use it to clean stainless on back of can and I reapply the spray about every two to three weeks. The rest of the time I just grab the clean towel. Has not hurt the stainless at all and no build up of anything. I use it on my stove front, dishwasher front, toaster and microwave. Give it a try.
Hi Katie! Thank you for sharing this! We love to hear about our viewers' small victories. That cleaner sounds awesome!
I realize Im kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to watch new movies online ?
@@koltonrowan7262 Last night I bought Chinese take away and it was very tasty. Try it.
All purpose Pledge?
Thanks. This could be the end of my search. I'll find out
Thank you for this. Finally a video that shows comparison examples and not just for cleaners. THANK YOU for showing those examples on different brands. I rent my home and my refrigerator, stove, and microwave are all different brands and I didn’t know what to use and I definitely didn’t want to mess up the finish. So again, thank you. I did subscribe to your channel so I look forward to more videos.
Thank you, best video I’ve seen except needed Samsung Fridge.
Appreciate your time! Thanks!
Thank you!!! You helped me a lot!
So glad I came across this video, I was starting to research if I could use clear vinyl cling to cover my fridge… especially behind the handles where it gets bad. I have been using the stainless cleaner and as you said it leaves a residue that causes smudges easily. My fridge was supposed to be the smudge resistant one but apparently the salesman ordered the wrong one and my husband said we’re ok with it… I’m not, lol. I will now definitely try the vinegar and water cleaner.
soooooooo basically nothing works.
Best Best Best video on how to clean stainless stills EVER. Thank you😌
GIVES ME ANXIETY JUST WATCHING
I have a little hand print from my oldest grandson from when he was about two that will not clean off my fridge. I’ve tried everything. My daughter says it has super strong toddler germs.
Really love the video. First time I know I can use water and vinegar on stainless steel. I am using Zep oil based cleaner it worked great but smells awful. Will definitely try the water and vinegar thanks very much
This was very helpful, thank you
Your very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Bravo! I'm a big fan of just using a wet towel with water only and instantly dry it. BUT I have learned that once you use a stainless steel cleaner you tend to have to always use a stainless steel cleaner. Kudos for having a man do this demonstration..lol Great job Tyler!
Thanks Kyra - We always love to here our followers feedback!
@@BoulevardHome And a CUTE man! 😉 (I just turned 75. I figure one of the perks of living this long (and being locked up for over a year!) is flirting with a younger man! 😊
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this informative video. I'll be getting some of that white vinegar when I run errands later today 😊
Hello! You're welcome. We are so glad you enjoyed our video! Thank you for watching. Let us know how it goes!
Great video! Thank you for your science based approach. The vinegar and water is a choice that is not hard on the environment too! I'll try that...
Hi Thomas! We are so glad you liked our video. Thank you for watching. Let us know how it goes!
Can you use reg vinigar you cook with or do you have to get cleaning vinigar
What type of cloth is best to use?
i had small hairline scratches made by a microfiber. any way to buff them out? thanks
do any of these cleaning methods affect refrigerator magnets ?
I just use dish soap and water and it cleans and dries well. I do have a few spots that won’t come off, they look like something splashed on them and it lightened the steel. Any solutions for that?
Always use wet clothes and dry! I’m trying the vinegar/water! Probably dries much faster! Thank you!👍
Your welcome! Thanks for watching. The vinegar mixture should dry faster.
ratios of each??
I just make a paste out of baking soda to clean and get rust marks off. Clean, dry and lightly apply coconut oil.
I would rather have my gold frig from the 70s than those nightmare stainless steel beasts
What about olive oil? I love it more than other options.
Wipe the alcohol off right away, it evaporates and will look like a white smear if you let it dry on there. It's the best cleaner of the bunch here.
Hold the product up longer so we can see what's on the can
The vinegar & water solution is what cleaned it. Alcohol is not the best idea. Try olive oil.. Put very little on a micro towel & rub the stainless with the grain.
Pero ni mostro la suciedad, como vamos a saber si limpio sobre lo limpio p sucio
Can I use Windex? Does it do damage to black stainless? Thanks.
You can use ammonia-free Windex on stainless steel. The ammonia in Windex can eat away at stainless steel. But if it's ammonia-free, then it cleans very well! We hope this helped. Thanks for watching our video :)
@@BoulevardHome Thank you.
I put Christmas cards on my stainless refrigerator with scotch tape. It left marks and scratches on it. How can I fix it?
Hi Brenda! Maytag suggests using cleaners such as Comet, Copper Cleaner, or Revere Stainless Steel to gently buff out scratches. Then, conceal the scratch with stainless steel polish.
Vinegar water
Windex then baby oil..works wonders the coating of the oil keeps it clean
Thanks for sharing! We hope you enjoyed our video.
How much water to vinegar?
He said one part vinegar to one part vinegar. So I plan to put 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/2 cup water in a spray bottle.
Has anyone tried using an electric orbital buffer on their stainless steel appliances?
I have, have to clay bar first
I cleaned the fridge using clorox wipes, I think I damaged it 😩 is there anyway to fix that?
There is several different stainless steel material.
How much water to how much vinigar
Do you have to have cleaning vinegar or can you use reg vinegar you cook with
Thank you ! Water /Vinegar 50/50 ?
Yep! 50/50 water and white vinegar. Let us know how it goes!
@@BoulevardHome I sprayed vinaigrette/water & after 10 min, I wiped out the fridge. Most dirts were still there. Then I rubbed with alcohol, got some finger prints out. However, after using soapy sponge, I finally be able to remove all food, dirty oils, finger prints out of fridge door. Then I spayed with stainless steel cleaner spray to make it shiny.
Bleach cleaner spray works too, but since you said “Big No” for that, I do not use bleach spray any more!
@@zibaa1234 We are glad you were able to clean your fridge! Each fridge and brand is different and will react differently to each cleaner. We are glad you found what works for you.
Dawn Power Wash is the best for cleaning stainless steel. Never use any oil based cleaner on stainless steel.
You can certainly use oil based on stainless, I own a laundromat so I know a little about cleaning machines.
I used a raw pork chop. Boneless of course. Rub the pork chop on the surface. Next. Use any of the methods of the video to clean it. Fry the pirk chop. Make a sammich.
Multitasking a chore and lunch using the same tool, I mean food, LOL
Lite Rubbing compound and a buffer and a microfiber towel…. Boom
👎 no ammonia or vinegar or other acids on stainless !! ruins finish and you will get rust over time.
diluted vinegar is ok
