Here's another source of phantom smells, often overlooked. Detritus builds up inside the inlet pipe that connects the dishwasher to the food disposal. I find the opening under the gasket at the mouth of the disposal and using a narrow bottle brush, I scrub it before running a dishwashing cycle. As the dishwasher drains, all the loose stuff flushes out and it's clean again.
Perhaps this works for medium stains and generally dirty sink. My sink had deep dark stains (looked like dried oil) compounded by hard water stains (Texas). I ended up sanding the sink with 400 grit sandpaper (I wet sanded it). Worked perfectly. I will polish with automobile rubbing compound and polish for brilliant shine. This saved me from buying a new sink. You might try this. Note sandpaper can cause scratch marks on your sink. If so you might need to sand with finer grades wet sandpaper (say 400, 600. 800, 1000, then 2000 grit to get scratch marks off) and then polish. No guarantees here, just a suggestion. We do have them in Australia. At least in Sydney I know that Meriton has installed them in every apartment for the last 40 years. The brand is Inskinerator. I had one in my apartment in 1985, but they were around at least five years before that. Every rental property I’ve ever seen has had one. Tenants put all sorts of crap down them like wooden chopsticks, or boiled rice (which sets like cement and blocks the pipes). They are a nasty breeding ground and often landlords totally remove them because of the problems they cause and the high cost of maintaining constantly replacing them every time a tenant moves out.
Wow, a thorough straight-to-the-point cleaning demonstration including methods & products…in just over 4 minutes! It’s one of the best I’ve seen!!! Thank you, Sir!
Degrease with vinegar. Use strainers to prevent solids from clogging drains. Use regular soap and bleach mixture to clean stainless steel. Rinse. Avoid earth killing chemicals and spend less. The toothbrush is a good idea.
I tried to use bar keeper's friend on my sink but it still looked cloudy from some chemicals i used on the sink. Any suggestions for getting rid of a cloudy kitchen sink? I've tried barkeeper's friend. hot water and dawn dish soap.
I haven't cleaned anything in 5 years since my wife died and stepson took my retirement. All you need is a clean plate. The bong residue in the sink is quit impressive.
I also no longer need to keep the lawn a deep, carcinogen fueled green tint to please the f--ing nieghbors. Just let it grow wild like the mountainside.
Hi, I noticed in your videos that a significant amount of water is being used. Since water is such a valuable resource, have you considered ways to reduce unnecessary usage? I think it could make a positive impact.
The rubber splashguard on a garbage disposal is totally removable. What made you think it isn't? One tug pulls it right out - you clean it - and then pop it right back in. Easy peasy.
Ours is an InSinkerator, so it has the removable and replaceable flapdoodle. I don't think many others do. (I also wear gloves to do that - it gets really yucky!)
Bonus comment: BarKeeper's Friend also removes the "ghosts" left behind my aluminum pans and aging non-stick pans on glass cooktops. All this magic comes from basic chemistry: most cleansers are alkaline to deal with animal fats, but BarKeeper's Friend is acidic and can remove (among other things) aluminum and hard water plaques.
Non-pro tip: I like to use a little lemon Pledge Furniture Polish (yep, that's what I said) sprayed on my microfiber cloth at the very end after the sink (dishwasher door, fridge door, front of toaster, etc. all my stainless). After I'm sure everything is dry, I do a quick wipe down with the Pledge. It helps keep things shiny and finger print free for longer and smells fantastic!

@@katrinat.3032 how was the plumbing different? And how old is old to you?
@@AlphaGeekgirl I’m a renter and I wish there wasn’t a garbage disposal in my sink. I never use it because it doesn’t do a thorough job.
Excellent! Thank you doing this now! Subscribed
next up can you do stove top? i feel like i can never get my gas stovetop back to originally condition.
YES! I’ve been searching for one to clean… so many of my clients have electric or glasstop.
@@CleanThatUpYou may use my gas stove, I’m in SoCal.
Wow, a thorough straight-to-the-point cleaning demonstration including methods & products…in just over 4 minutes! It’s one of the best I’ve seen!!! Thank you, Sir!
Thanks Brandon 😊
You got it!
Do you need a separate sponge for sink cleaning? Or can you use the one you do dishes with?
Separate
Thanks for sharing ❤
I might use the BF first, then follow up with Powerwash, to get rid of the grit.
Magic eraser for the win
My WW2 generation Grandmother would be amazed this video is needed.
Degrease with vinegar. Use strainers to prevent solids from clogging drains. Use regular soap and bleach mixture to clean stainless steel. Rinse. Avoid earth killing chemicals and spend less. The toothbrush is a good idea.
Bleach is an Earth killing chemical
I have a can of Barkeepers Friend which I have never used. Reason is it has turned into a solid cake in the can, which I cannot shake out.
Isn't the dawn power wash sufficient enough? why use BFK?
I tried to use bar keeper's friend on my sink but it still looked cloudy from some chemicals i used on the sink. Any suggestions for getting rid of a cloudy kitchen sink? I've tried barkeeper's friend. hot water and dawn dish soap.
What if you're stainless steel sink had scratches. Is there anything I can do to remove those?
I am a new subscriber and am really impressed with your videos! Thank you for the great tips!
Thanks for subscribing!
Does this work for black stainless steel as well?
All you need is a bit squeeze of cream cleaner and a cloth. Rinse with water.
Bar keepers friend and CLR are the best . But expensive if running a cleaning business .
Love your sink! Would you let me know the brand and model?
Hi, I noticed in your videos that a significant amount of water is being used. Since water is such a valuable resource, have you considered ways to reduce unnecessary usage? I think it could make a positive impact.
What was the point of wasting the Dawn?
Couldnt stop watching
wicked ,I love a clean sink
A brillo pad or family dollar pads work just fine to me.
I REALLY LOV YOUR VIDEOS
Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you. New Subscriber.
The rubber splashguard on a garbage disposal is totally removable. What made you think it isn't? One tug pulls it right out - you clean it - and then pop it right back in. Easy peasy.
Some don't pop out, they are positioned between the sink and disposal and you need to disassemble the disposal to get them off and/or replace them
@cynthia - Some DO NOT REMOVE... so you have been CORRECTED!
Ours is an InSinkerator, so it has the removable and replaceable flapdoodle. I don't think many others do. (I also wear gloves to do that - it gets really yucky!)
stunning! Thank you!
Love this channel ❤
Bonus comment: BarKeeper's Friend also removes the "ghosts" left behind my aluminum pans and aging non-stick pans on glass cooktops. All this magic comes from basic chemistry: most cleansers are alkaline to deal with animal fats, but BarKeeper's Friend is acidic and can remove (among other things) aluminum and hard water plaques.
So cool
Non-pro tip: I like to use a little lemon Pledge Furniture Polish (yep, that's what I said) sprayed on my microfiber cloth at the very end after the sink (dishwasher door, fridge door, front of toaster, etc. all my stainless). After I'm sure everything is dry, I do a quick wipe down with the Pledge. It helps keep things shiny and finger print free for longer and smells fantastic!
Guess I’ve been doing it right since my grandmother taught me in 1962. She was a housekeeper.
Thank you so much! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You're welcome!
Is this safe for thr black stainless steel sink?
My sponge sometimes turns a gray color when i scrub my stainless steel sink. Is that something I should be worried about??
Nope totally normal in my experience.
Ceramic cook top cleaner does the trick
