I first thought your comment was just being dramatic, but after watching the video you are absolutely right. Wonder what kinda kick backs old mate is getting from Toyota to gush all over this so much! E.g. “The AC is so good I’m actually getting chilly even on a 39C day!” Yeah wow thanks for the wise commentary 😂 Car Expert’s review is night and day compared to this…
I cancelled my GXL order after seeing the boot setup. It’s hopeless. Such a pity as the rest of the car is fabulous. How about a 5 seat version of the GXL, Toyota? I’d place a new order immediately.
The rear 220 v outlet is only 100w. Will not support a coffee machine. The 220 v outlet has nothing to do with the48v system. My 2016 prado has the same 220v outlet
Have my eye on the Altitude for offroad/touring purposes, however I suspect the hot V, BMW 3.0 TD, 3.0 ECOBOOT has it over the 2.8 TD mild hybrid. In stock, a very safe and comfortable daily driver capable of short distance touring with an ability to tackle some challenging offroad trails, grade dependent. Would be great to see a tow test, like the Hilux, I suspect it may be challenged.
@@maribogukun emerging markets? AU has Fortuner, this guy is talking about new generation which won't come before a Hilux, which could be 2 years later
So this Prado has the very same 2.8L engine as in my 2020 Fortuner 150Nm, my GXL Fortuner has the sliding second row seats not in the new Prado, I don’t need AdBlue, I get rear differential lock lock that you only get in Altitude Prado, I have the manual tailgate that’s not going to wake up every camper in a campsite, and I can pop my third row seats in and out in 20 minutes that the Altitude doesn’t get. All that for almost half the price?! How’s this Prado a good deal? I can’t fathom. People either have lots of cash or they are fools and buy into looks. A 6 cylinder Everest is a better deal.
@@retepd1e First, I got to admit that you are correct. Some of the new prado design are failure for sure, but you can't say the new one is the same as the Fortuner or even worse based on its engine and diff locks only. It still has something that better than Fortuner, eg: heated and cool seats, I bet if you tried that is summer, you won't go back. Or you can't say LC300 is worse than LC200, mainly because it's a V6 not a V8.
Sorry Toyota, you lost a long time prado owner, wanted to upgrade but that boot setup is ridiculous!!. Look at the other brands who all get it right, customers want a flat functional bootspace when all seats folded... Plus the Altitude I test drove showed 13.2 L per 100km. Thanks but no thanks, so many better options out there.
To be honest, this Prado is very disappointing. The fuel tank is tiny and it will never be as able as the old ones in the Outback! Secondly, the trunk is shockingly small and not usable! Thirdly, the price is ridiculous, for this equipment incuded.I would just lump to the Lands cruiser. It's a shame that with over 100 thousand dollars the interior is another disappointment as well. The truth is this generation is worse than the old one!
The crowds were up in arms when the 300 dropped with starting price of $100k for a GX, now every second comment is how affordable it is to jump from $77k to $104k (GX to GX) like its nothing....
How can it be classified as more capable than the old one when it’s slower, heavier and has a smaller fuel tank.
They had 15 years to get this right. You’d think they would have put some of that time into figuring out a better way to fit that 48V and back seat
They know Aussies will buy a wheelbarrow with a Landcruiser badge. We are the biggest market and least effort.
@@nathansharma87what’s your solution?
Waiting for all the complaints about the boot, price, and engine 😂
Was bound to happen
Horrible boot space, noisy and under powered engine and the price is too high! I'm def not buying one.
I'm not complaining I won't be having to drive it.
I’m so glad I held off from getting a new Prado. Going to wait until they release a refreshed and updated version after all the complaints pile up 😅
I'm so glad I went with the 300 instead. Looks good on the outside and that's about it.
It surprises me how many people have a lazy $20k lying around ready to blow on a more expensive car like they are shopping for phone cases.
Got the VX and couldn’t be happier. Sold the 150, 150 feels like a relic compared to the 250.
Enjoy the futuristic engine, boot and second row legroom.
@ why so much hate? 😂 It’s a huge upgrade for me.
Is it the most biased review I ever seen ?

It’s the Toyota fanboy affect that a lot are made to toe the line.
I bet the Toyota paid for this trip and treated them really nicely!
Oh no! A 5min fill up of adblue once every 8000km. Geez, stop complaining. 🙃 That's ridiculous, if that's your reason for not purchasing.

Yeah right
😅😅😂80k for plastic steering wheel and cloth seats 👏👏👏well done Toyota 👏
I"ll buy an altitude if round headlights make it to Australia.
Beautifully shot. Kakadu almost out shone the Prado. Great review.
Sometimes we forget the whole reason we want 4x4s is so we can go to these beautiful places!
Good luck getting any reasonable range with AdBlue use when towing.
We're watching this issue very closely...

Great thorough review, nicely done. The new Prado looks the part.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The boot’s a deal killer. I’ll be going for the GX; more than good enough as a family vehicle and weekend off-roader
whats with the 7 seater boot though ;)
It will be hard to look past the Patrol with that Price tag
People who are considering buying a Prado should wait on the next generation Toyota Fortuner.....same 2.8ltr engine
Fortuner is only available in emerging markets, hence its less premium and less advanced

Everything is new including the price except the engine. New engine is due in a couple of years to suit everything else
