    Plenty of enthusiasm, that’s great.
We pick our Altitude up on Monday and are pretty happy with our choice for moderate off roading, touring and towing.
The official Toyota GCM specification is 6600kg which is great though (as you understand) you will have to watch the GVM.
I’m coming from a Hilux and am looking forward to getting back into a wagon for comfort and quality.
Previous wagons include a FJ55 (1976) 80 series Gx, 100 series petrol, 120 series Prado oh and a jackaroo in there somewhere.
    Enjoy your new truck.

so true you can travel Australia in an unmodified car. Removing the 3rd row seat will save you some weight. Enjoy the ride.
in 1982 when we went across the GCR (it was a track) old mate and his missus towed a van through with a stock Ford Fairlane!
We prefer to travel light, no bull bar, winch or giant tyres. We've towed our van through all sorts of tracks with std sized AT tyres without any dramas

Good review, car looks pretty good but makes me really glad I went with an Isuzu MU-X. For a similar price I could add my bull bar, roof rack, awning, bash plates, long range tank and a suspension upgrade. Plus a number of other goodies. No ad-blue either :)

Toyota has shafted people with this model.
No idea why anyone would buy one.

Hi guys, yes I am getting around 16 litres per 100ks on the current model towing a 7 metre semi off-road van. By putting the spare underneath you drop from 150 litres to around 120. Great idea moving the spare to the rear on a swing away bar. One thing I don’t like is the need for ad blue which is not required on the current model.

We came across your RUclips channel today and absolutely loved it. We’re based in Australia and recently booked a Prado GXL in the same color as yours. After watching your video, we realized there are some differences between the US and Australian models, just as you mentioned.

Congrats, love the new Land Cruiser. Being in the US we do get the Land Cruiser 250 but only with the petrol 4 cylinder turbo hybrid and no third seat. With the same TNGA chassis, we also get the 4Runner. With the Trailhunter option it has 10.1" of ground clearance, rear locker, front sway bar disconnect and a snorkel. We also get tow/haul mode with a brake controller. We can't get the diesel, the HiLux or the 300 series Land Cruiser. Each area has plus and minus issues...Hope to get a Trailhunter soon. Enjoy your new vehicle, will be watching your travels and vehicle mods planning our travels and mods once our vehicle arrives...

With Toyota’s reputation for reliability and great resale value great choice. Although there are some issues with new models the Prado is pretty good. You are going to have to “ upgrade “ a lot of things to get it to do what you are wanting. Just means spending a fair bit more, so adding to overall cost. Congratulations guys.

You are uninsured by insurance companies if you exceed 1) gross towing capacity. 2) total CVM. Previously a Prado had a towing capacity of 2.5 ton..that will not be insured if you tow a caravan with a GVM of 3 ton..eg a 20ft Jayco…

I have owned a Prado for many years and my family have owned several Land Cruisers Toyota’s they last forever, and parts are easy to find especially in the bush. Only thing I would say is new Toyota Prados and Land Cruisers are very expensive, second hand vehicles say five years old are at good prices with very little off road use. You could spend the money saved on good quality aftermarket assessories/parts. Happy travels. 😊😊😊😊😊

You will need more payload capacity, you will be over gvm with a bullbar, winch, extra fuel, tyre carrier and draw system without any other stuff. You will be better off for weight and space if you remove all the rear 5 seats. You cannot use then with your false floor so just pull them out. They are dead weight. Get it re engineered if you have to. This will lower your centre of gravity and give you maybe 80kg more payload.

Congratulations on the new wheels. We have the 150 series [VX model] which tows a 2.7t touring van. 3 years old now. Only 67,000k, but a trouble free and faultless performance so far. Great car. Not perfect, but we love the comfort and reliability. Tows beautifully with the only mod being a set of quality airbags for the rear springs. The rear row of seats stays down. Never used thus far. We are thinking of a fridge for the rear. Best wishes to you both for many years of happy motoring.

It has a good sized infotainment system and the audio system is fantastic. It has enough modern tech to satisfy the majority of people. IMO, the price point is fantastic (86k) & I jumped on it immediately because of the price & whatbyou are getting. Toyota Prado is an iconic car brand in Australia & this new version is up with the times, and it still delivers on it's famous off road capabilities. This Prado is COOL. I am over the moon with my purchase. I will say I'm not keen on the new Kakado version, because it looks like the old Prado. But that's just my opinion.

Don't stress about fuel tank size, our Y62 has a 140l tank we get 400 - 500ks towing, you will learn to adjust to it, beautiful car, congrats to you both.

Nice. A ship must have come into Freo port recently. The new Prados (and other Landcruiser types) were all trundling along Leach Hwy yesterday to the holding yard. They look good in the metal.

Have you considered a smaller van? Or a lighter van? Lots of options out there that will save you fuel, give you some more load capacity and a hell of a lot less stress on the car

Superb video, can you confirm, False Floors are able to (a) put in a false floor substantial enough to protect the battery compartment providing similar space to that of the Altitude edition, and (b) remove the 3rd row seats altogether, on a LC 250 Prado Kakadu? assuming the order ever arrives of course.

Dont listen to the 'experts', just do you. You guys are educated enough to make the correct decisions for what you need.
Ive read so many negative comments about an Isuzu D-Max pulling a 3.5t van, yet I can overtake various V6's going up hills!!! Haters will haters and 'experts' willnmaintain they know everything!
Above everything, be safe and cant wait for the build and your next trip to the Cape!! Haha 😂

Hi guys, I think for the price it’s pretty good value. I know it’s pretty basic but it looks nice I love the front , like the leather and love the idea of that you can take the rear seats out. That’s it keep it stupa simple . What about a roo bar. I think it’s great value. Good luck and good travelling guys. Jon🇦🇺WA👍👍

Hey Lil and Jake, absolutely enjoy your videos and the effort you make to entertain us. I agree with your theory on the mods as well, we all do it, it's no big deal, but the payload limitations seem insurmaountable to me. It's so restrictive that without a GVM upgrade you can't do any of those mods.

I am on my 3rd Prado, had a 2004 for 10 years, a 2014 for 7 years, and now a 2021 since then, I was excited about this new Prado but honestly when I saw you lift the bonnet with no hydraulics, looks like manual lift and the the back of it I am pretty sure I will stay with what I have, the 2021 GXL has all the same functions you just mentioned, same towing capacity, 120 ltr fuel tank ...... so I'm happy, Toyota just lost a sale with this review .....

Wow looks great. Does the handbook happen to list the Prado’s Gross Axle Weight Limits as I can’t find them anywhere. I would love to buy one but with two kids and a 3000kg van I would have no payload left for anything, not even a bar. 😔

Why wouldn’t you get a Prado!
I reckon you’ll adapt to a smaller fuel tank. Especially with a van, surely some jerry cans aren’t hard to carry around for extra range when you need it.
For the fridge, check out Evakool drawer fridge/freezers. They’re Aus made and well regarded.

Just make sure that the modifications/additions that you are contemplating to fit, are approved by TOYOTA. You may null and void your new vehicle warranty by fitting non approved accessories.
    Enjoy your new vehicle.

  • @Sabumnim666
    @Sabumnim666 2 месяца назад +1

What about the little sticker in the back that says max load 60KG and you are NOT going to pull the seats out or you will be illegal and void your warranty because the seats are there to protect your battery and at this stage there is no way to comply with ADR if you do remove the seats.
Also there is no gvm upgrade available.
Glad you love your car but a service every 6 months and the lower pay load etc from the last model certainly is a big trade off. In the end how much difference in price will there be between a base 300 and your car without major upgrades?
