In Jerry Heller’s book “Ruthless” he says that The DOC could have had surgery to have his voice almost returned back to normal, but chose not to. He was suffering from Alcoholism, which is what led to his accident in the first place.
49 year old dude and this hits generationally and ageless.
This is one of the coolest projects ive ever seen. Well done Sam, Ceschi, Mike, DOC, N8NOFACE, Onry, and INDECLINE.

4:20 I’m so glad that the DOC started rapping again.
This 5-part series is a masterpiece and everyone deserves to see it. Sadly i can relate the self-harm in the first episode as I suffer psychosis and harmed myself badly and hung myself (rescued in the nick of time by a fluke and thanks to a friend noticing a weird message i sent them and they sent the police). I was sectioned, and am in recovery, but THIS IS CRIMEWAVE has been a wonderful album to enjoy as I recover. I even saw Codefendants live at LEEDS in 2023 supporting NOFX, just a bit sad Fat Mike wasn't on BASS! I did get to shout to Mike as he got on his tour bus that his Cokie the Clown album saved my life, as i was listening to it a lot in the lead up to my hanging and it stopped me so many times, knowing he felt so bad too helped me. Who knows, any other time, I could have died. I hope he heard me. I also shouted to him "THANK YOU".

his album "no one can do it better" will forever be one of the few strongest pillars at the foundation of not only west coast rap, not only g-funk, not only rock rap, but even rappers rap. next level lyricist. a lot of underground west coast OG's know at least come of the tragic story of what happened to his career path, but more recent revelations about hid personal and business life are well worthy of a feature documentary if only his name were even half as universally recognized as, for example, 2pac.
