What a great video!!!! I just love 60s and 70s Barbies so much! I love your entire channel but I think this may be my favorite video you have made so far. So informative! I would love to see more videos like this, you could make so many!
Really enjoyed the video. Would love to see Barbie friends. I think you might have missed a couple of my favorites Walk Lively and Free Moving. Thanks for all your hard work and research. Michael
Thank you so much for offering Barbie 101 to us!! I’d be sooooooo interested in learning the prices for Barbie from the time period 1977-1985. Thank you so much !
This was so informative as I started collecting in the late 80s early 90s , the majority of my collection was bought in the early 2000s . I think many things have gotten higher for example a #1 , when I first started collecting they were around 1000$ and now they are nearly 10 X more ...But High Color American girls some I paid over a 1000$ for and now they are around 6-7 hundred ... Where as my mint Wards is the same value. I really appreciate the time you took to map it out ... as you know you never really stop collecting :) Cheers Matt Sky
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, even some of these were priced quite different than they were just a couple years ago. Crazy how the market fluctuates so drastically. ❤️❤️
This was indeed verry helpfull. Im in the hunt forr the happy hair growing francie or barbie. Didn't find any working an with al her arms and legs. Live to see more video's like this.
Great video! My fave is TNT Barbie. Not meaning to come across as a know-it-all , but I’m pretty sure that first Malibu you showed is the 2001 reproduction.
This was just great. Thanks so much. I will be referring back to this video every time I go to a doll show!! Yes on the Barbie friends video!! I have Midge, Stacey, Francie and PJ. Looking for more..... Question: Are you able to find pristine fashions? Or do you sometimes have to clean and repair the clothes? I absolutely LOVE the corduroy jumper. Wish I could find a nice one. Most of them are so dirty. I would be afraid the felt pieces would come off IF it was washed. Thx again!!!
Thank you!! Sounds like you’ve got a great collection! Quite often I am able to find great condition outfits. Sometimes they might need a wash with a little oxyclean and warm water or maybe a snap sewn on, but there are a lot of hardcore collectors out there taking great care of them. ❤️❤️
A month too late for me. So much great info here. Had I known the importance of the colour of the bubblehead’s bathing suit beforehand, I would not have been taken for $200. Now I own 2 1962 titian bubblecuts, one in her original bathing suit. It’s on me. I should have done better research. But the seller’s willingness to lie was remarkable! Taught me a lesson I thought I already knew. At least I got her box. Pricing is tricky, because even if you know a doll is overpriced, if you want it badly enough, well… Fun fact: I got a haul a few months ago for $50. The lady told me there were a few treasures in it. There was an American barbie. Brunette. And a Midge. I love them. I’m wondering if your prices reflect original outfits as well? The Malibu dolls, and most 70s ones for that matter, are pretty common here. I get them in lots often. Great upload. I plan on memorizing it. I love all of your videos. My apart ocular interest is vintage, and clothing. Anything in those areas. But honestly, I watch all your uploads. You’ve got a stellar personality.
Thanks so much! Glad I could help! Sounds like an amazing haul you found! Usually whether they come with their original bathing suit or not, it doesn’t affect the price all that much, with a few exceptions. If the doll came dressed in a particular outfit, it can affect the price more, if the outfit itself is valuable. ❤️❤️
I knew soon as I heard there was a Barbie movie coming out...I was like NO NO NO! LOL! Because I knew the prices would shoot up... and they have. I bought my Color Magic's years ago, I think I paid $250 to $350 (I think the black cherry was the most expensive) and mine look perfect. I knew the movie would cause prices to go up, but what I didn't think about, it would cause "finds" to dry up. I used to make finds all the time at a large flea market I like to go to, since the movie not one! This is the same flea market I got two #3's in a case with tons of clothes for $35... I found a lady selling her childhood collection for $80... which was 3 bubble cuts, 2 ponytails, a Ken and an Allen, two cases packed with outfits. I used to find something every time I went, but since the movie, nothing, ugh! LOL!
So, I'm not hallucinating! Barbie did come with a longer, silver-toned bob cut! That's how I remembered one of my dolls...thank you for the confirmation!
OH my gosh you helped me solve a doll mystery!! I recently bought what i thought was a tnt doll for 35$ and when i got her i just assumed the weird body was a frankeinstein repair or something but she is actually a dramatic living doll! thank you love the videos!
Hello. When I was little, my father brought me Barbie from abroad. I think it was a collection between 2000 and 2006. Unfortunately, the children who came to my house were always playing with it. And after a while, it disappeared. I searched through the collection photos and couldn't find it. If you know, I would be very happy if you could help me. Now I'm giving clues as I remember. She was a blonde Barbie with very long hair. She was in a set. She had a lot of accessories. She had earrings. She had pink high-heeled boots. It had suspenders. I don't remember much about her outfit. I only remember her skirt. She had a purple mini skirt. I think it was velvet fabric. Her belt was fuchsia in color and had a white round ring detail. That's all I remember for now. I'm a foreigner, so I used translation. Sorry for the mistakes.
Bro, can we give Margaret "Midge" Hadley-Sherwood her moment.... and the rest gang, too. She's really my favorite. Of course I have an Allen. Can't double date without him. (I think her "wonky" eye paint contributed to her demise.)
Of course the 1940s does or not barbie, wish I could’ve helped you with this. It would’ve been nice to have somebody on the sidelines not to take any light from you. just wouldn’t it be nice to have a girl somewhere in the mix and I studied the history of fashion and costume, Barbie’s fashion is such a mirror of human history.
I really appreciate your effort, but I guess I've been very lucky as nearly all of your prices seem way too inflated, more like they are average asking price rather than what they actually get bought for. I'm in many doll collector groups, and we always tell people to look at sold listings only, and dates on the sales. I admit, I do not study vintage dolls and their values, although I collect them - I have my own spending limits that I realize may not be realistic. In my general shopping, glancing through "vintage Barbie" listings on Mercari, Malibu consistently seems to be the least expensive - rarely asking more than $40 and often not even selling at $20. I got my #4 - in fair condition, in a outfit I saw most sellers asking $30USD for - for $20 at a flea market because she smelled. I didn't know that crayon odor was how they were. I recently got a Malibu and a Sweet 16 for $5 each. They're dirty, but intact. My 2 bubble cuts were $1.50 a piece, but each missing a finger and stained. Pricing Barbies is so tricky. They only appeal to a certain market, even those in the market have their own likes/dislikes, age and rarity don't always make them more desirable, and condition changes value exponentially. I personally have trouble unboxing dolls - they've made it this far pristine, who am I to change that? - so I love finding them unboxed but complete, but being a cheapskate is my first passion (LOL) so I will always go for the best deal. I recently got Summer Sophisticate NIB, as the cheapest I found her nude was only $10 less than mint. I haven't been able to bring myself to open the box and inspect her yet, even though the horror stories of people finally unboxing dolls after years only to discover damage they could have prevented by checking them earlier has helped me overcome my unboxing reluctance. Thanks for all the info and work you put into your content! You definitely have a passion and it shows
Thank you! I am really only talking about pieces in mint/very near mint condition. Bald patches, missing fingers, damaged makeup, repaints, green ear and even uncleaned dolls can definitely affect the price drastically. For sure there are always great deals to be found at flea markets, garage sales etc and many dealers online are motivated to sell a lot more quickly than others and accept super low prices. Sounds like you definitely know how to hunt for some great bargains! ❤️
The Barbie friends video sounds great!

There are very beautiful Barbies in this line-up. My favorite is the one with the yellow hair.
Thanks! Yeah, the color magics are just sooo beautiful. ❤️❤️
This was indeed verry helpfull. Im in the hunt forr the happy hair growing francie or barbie. Didn't find any working an with al her arms and legs. Live to see more video's like this.

Ooooo! That’s some gorgeous girls you got there! Thanks for this. Very informative. Do you have a Quick Curl Barbie? I had her in 1973. ☺️

I'd love to see videos on her friends, ty for this
My pleasure!❤️
Love your videos ♥️
Thanks so much!❤️
Have the bangs on your #3 been brushed out? I'm confused why they look like the stiff bangs and not the poodle style...
Do you buy dolls that need major repairs/restorations often? I’d love to see some restoration videos from you if you do
Great video! My fave is TNT Barbie. Not meaning to come across as a know-it-all , but I’m pretty sure that first Malibu you showed is the 2001 reproduction.
Thank you! That one’s definitely vintage. They had different looks depending on the country of manufacture.
Hey yes ahhh . Between trademark dates neck back bottom little confusing .thanks for your videos! Ponytails 1-8 thanks

I'm so glad I started collecting Vintage Era when most of them were about $50 each.
Nice!

You missed Walk Lively
Yeah missed a couple including quick curl. I’ll get em on the next one lol
Hi
I sort regret buying #5 ponytail. I can't get rid of her greasy face. I clean it and it comes back.
Yeah it’ll always come back. Just gotta learn to love her, or sell her and get a different number. lol ❤️
Jk
