And thank you for another book - May We Stand Forever. The discussion got me emotional.

it was John Branca, Jackson's attorney who purchased the Beatles catalog on his behalf for $47.5 million. Included in that catalog was Little Richard's song portfolio that the Beatles had bought out from under him years before. There's a really sweet story regarding how Jackson restored Richard's music back to him as a gift.

If I heard nothing in today's class other than James Weldon Johnson's description of what it feels like to craft the perfect poem; it would have been worth it. Truly food for the soul. Thank you for this wonderful gift. Can't wait to hear more about the platform and how we can assist in making it happen!

There is a moment when Dr. Carr is teaching, and the spirit...you can define for yourself...hits him and the Divine takes over. We are all connected and I feel it every time you teach. After the explanation of "Lift Every Voice" I had to stop and take a breath.

I am infinitely grateful for you, Dr.Carr. I kinda thought I was an aware person, but there is so much more to learn. I am soaking in all the knowledge I can and am aware of several things you guys are introducing. Again soo grateful. I would love to see a show addressing how do we live day to day in these States of America. United left off, as we’ve not even come close to that. I’m not comfortable living in my upper class white neighborhood anymore (and was racially profiled in my driveway), but don’t know where to go. Black urban Nieghborhoods have been gentrified and not very affordable. Not sure if I should even stay in the SOA cuz not sure if things will really ever change. Tired, exhausted and lacking a black persons daily living plan. I know this is a huge request. But I’m gaining all this knowledge, yet short of activism (which is good) don’t know how to “breath” here anymore.

I've been thinking so deeply if Blacks as a collective, specifically African American Blacks, have been so conditioned that the thought of "rising" as a collective people is even possible. I'm so thankful for these sessions with you and Dr. Carr, and understand that the journey forward begins with one step, but when I look around me, it seems that our consciousness as a people is still very much "surface". My thoughts go beyond my words but essentially, many seem to be so conditioned by white structure that "posturing" within the collective it's hard to feel , "this is our time". Just thinking and meditating. Anyway, I'm so proud of this endeavor. Know that I hear and I'm learning and I'm not giving up.

Thank you . I appreciate your service of reeducating us from the miseducation. Unfortunstely, the masses usually do not get on to these type of forums or read those types of books. We have had all these books and info available for years with still no real fruit or progress. It is time to include talk back up with positive planning, preparation and action by those who are informed for collective power of the whole for all. We lull ourselves in a dream that does not end with a reality. We plant seeds that sre not bearing filling fruit.
What is next is a good question to not just ponder, but should end with some sort of blueprint and building.
Start with unconditional Agape Love Love ourselves and each other enough, and we will be empowered to act bringing tuth to power.
    Love you all.

Again, great discussion. A few items I noted. Would like to dive deeper into (unless it was covered in previous discussions): 1) the tactical piece about gaining access to resources to build and move us forward 2) link teaching and learning (again) to social and economic power and 3) the idea Prof. Gonsalves highlighted about the ways stratification makes students invisible (hopefully I noted that correctly). I also found the play to lose = pushing the limits intriguing. Awesome class! Please continue. Thank you.

With opening your mouth and putting your brain on display is a strategy commonly used when someone thinks you are a threat to trip you up in conversation to pick your brain. Once you recognize this it becomes a personalized verbal and nonverbal chess match. I've been involved with these kinds of "matches" and the opponent are never satisfied with my responses. Their counter action is to fire me up and lose track of my focus. I thank you Karen Hunter and Dr. Carr for your ingenious platform which I will always love and cherish. Please keep it coming...

Dr.Richard King says “synthesis is the key to ascension.” We must become synthesizers which requires Afrikan-centered holistic thinking versus the trap of Eurocentric fragmentation.
Eurocentric fragmentation has us choosing sides or locked into one side, e.g Malcolm or Martin. It’s not either or. It is the best of both. They were human. They made mistakes. Learn the lessons; absorb the spirit; emulate their highest achievements. So it’s not Harriet or Sojourner. It’s Harriet and Sojourner. It’s not Delany or Douglass. It’s the best of both. Same with Washington and Du Bois, Du Bois and Garvey, Wells-Barnett and Bethune, Martin and Malcolm, Us and the Black Panther Party. “Synthesis is the key to ascension.” Purge Eurocentric fragmentation from our consciousness.

Doctors Hunter & Carr I swear divine is the only way to describe the miracles your chemistry and platform is.
My husband and I were talking about how Biggie's respect for Jay-Z no writing rap approach inspired Biggie to do the same.
We have a need for your platform and when you reach out to me you will see the levels we have to supercede and thrive in this country.
Our story is both upsetting and a testament of what makes us the warriors we are. My name is Maryam Bennett and I reside in the notorious Forsyth County (shout out to Biggie intended) the stands we've taken & the trouble we've had getting any coverage or anything done.
We are not far removed from this being a white's only county and even though the landscape has changed there is still blood at the root.
