- In 1995 Roy Keane's infamous stamp on Gareth Southgate occurred after the now-England manager's wreckless challenge. Fast forward to fifteen years later, what do the pair have to say about it?

As an irishman im convinced there will never be a love story as pure as keane and irwin
Langers in love.
"He can go forward, tackle, get you goal and take a free kick, what more do you want. " Roy Keane
Jedward
A tale as old as time…
It's Ray Houghton that goes for him first... I'm sure they all shared a pint afterwards. Southgate is a melt.
Gotta love Palace's ideas of themselves.
Home kit - Barcelona
Away kit - Brazil. Even down to the white socks.
Brilliant. Have to admire their confidence!

The little “sarry gareth at the end”😂😂😂
Good to see Southgate showing an ounce of personality
This was before he was England gaffer. The media doesnt allow you to have a personality when managing England without getting slaughtered
To be fair to Southgate, he's got good banter. I'm not his greatest fan but he's not all bad.
@@c0mbat15 give some examples?
why do you think someone needs to prove their opinion to you? @@DanTheMan221
😂😂😂😂👌👌👌
I love how Roy Keane blushes like his high school crush is asking him out. That was a proud stomp from Roy.
Go to 0:20 and it never fails to make me laugh seeing Eric Young pinch Dennis Irwins ear.. So childish but funny! 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pinching is a tactic used to get players angry. It goes on today.
Hahaha..it is hiloarious. Young also too cowardly to go near Keane.
@@chulainn32 Lol why would he go near Keane when everything has already calmed down?
@@sh3riff I know.. I just find it funny 😄
If Southgate had a first touch, none of this would have happened.... maybe 😅
He also bottled the first challenge. Should have taken Keane out at that point.
Touch of an elephant there
@@djdusted6485bottling is his niche lol
In all fairness that tackle by Southgate is well after the whistle. Not surprised keane left one on him. Scandalous challenge
It's a potential leg breaker, it's off the ground, two footed, and wraps both side of the leg. It's a disgrace.
@@AlanJohnPeach So you are going to ignore that Keane tried to snap Southgate's knee first. Twats and Keane was an average player in a Great utd team. Coward. Bottled it every bloody time someone came for him. Now apparently he is some sort of Football God...lol...
@AlanJohnPeach You're dead right. It was Keanesque.
Southgate tried to tackle without even touching 😂😂
Disgraceful challenge from Southgate.
Keanes challenge was worse
@@alanlittle3941 I bet you fun at parties 😏
😂😂
Southgate’s challenge is like petting somebody compared to the filth from Keane.
😂
Keane should have stamped on him again.
Shocking tackle by Southgate
So by your logic, a Palace player then should have knocked Keane clean out.
Sure @@chriswilliamson7694
@@chriswilliamson7694 I suggest you go find out the definition of logic pal.
Cos you're thick.
@@chriswilliamson7694no. That's your made of interpretation of his logic.
He finally said sorry 😅😅😅
Under the laws back then, red for Keane and yellow for Southgate (but a pretty strong yellow). Under today's laws, red for both.
I think it would’ve been red for Southgate even back then had Keane falls down.
That is a very dangerous challenge from Southgate. Easy red card if he did that thing vs Busquet etc.
That is one shocking tackle from southgate. That was red back then and you just need to see who the ref is to see why southgate got away with it. It also came long after the whistle, there is no way in hell southgate should have stayed on the pitch.
David Elleray the Ref, you called it right 😂. Knob.
Nothing wrong with that tackle. Roy tried to snap his knee the same way he did Alfie Haaland. Not to mention the 2 stamps, should’ve been suspended for 10+ matches. It’s a shame Southgate didn’t connect properly.
Keane gose for Southgate. Southgate then goes for Keane. Keane then stamps on Southgate. Only an idiot sees it any differently.
In fairness it looked like he was trying to get the ball
@osvnisaneek8254 it's a shame ur mom shat out u instead of a steamy pile of shit that DOESNT comment such clownshit
THE BEAUTIFUL GAME
I see nothing wrong with what keane did southgate came in with a dirty tackle. This is upstanding citizenship and a shining example of humanity and compassion on Keane’s part.
Look at Irwin , hes always with Roy 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪❤
nowadays you cant even stamp on anyone
fair play Roy, would do the same
and you'd get sent off and let your team down? Selfish.
@@chaboyaj9189you wouldn’t do anything mate despite what you say on the RUclips comments
@@chaboyaj9189na mate I reckon ur bum holes like a clowns pocket been bumd on the maddest 1 ever
Keane is clearly filled with pride watching this 🤣
Aaaand just like that I instantly once-again savour not having to watch Adrian Chiles presenting any football coverage whatsoever.
Sir Gareth tried to do Keane twice there, but we won't hear much about that. Keane reacted appropriately.
What? Keane starts it by literally trying to stamp on and break his kneecap.
Absolute thug.
Palace look like Brazil in that kit.
I thought it was Norwich
Exactly!
Southgate couldn’t act more like an MP if every male in his family for 10 generations were all MPs
That twt ellery delighted in showing keane red
I watched this live at the time and if I remember correctly, there was a call before the this game for quiet and decorum due to some external event..I can’t remember what now so this was the last thing needed.
Roy Keane is like the FA, they walk all over Southgate! 😅
Southgate has made millions from the FA. Warpped idea of being walked over.
Keane said sorry... n laughed 😅😅😅😅
Geez, what year was game in Studio? Roy Keane looking clean cut, and Adrian Chiles presenting.
I notice unlike today's game Southgate is straight back up and NOT rolling around
Keane stood on business too, even after getting charged by the whole team lmfao
Great challenge 👏🏻
Good ol days lads
ITV misspelling 'reckless' for 'wreckless' in the description. Embarrassing.
Southgate bottles the first challenge, then goes in like a coward after the whistle had gone.
I miss this football.
Two footed challenge from Southgate. No wonder Keane retaliated
Didnt actually expect Roy saying sorry for that in the end
Kean: Oh my God! How mean I were! 😂
The fact he blushed is telling that.
Man Utd were a team of bullies and used to getting their own way and people forget how physical Palace and Southgate were at this time.
Its a red card tackle from southgate
The days when football was worth the watch
Now it’s shit, players don’t care now
“Touch judge” John must have thought he was still commentating for Yorkshire on Scrumdown!
Southgate was miles off the level of keane and he was frustrated at his own shortcomings which is why he lunged. Small mind and obviously tiny balls or he would have been unable to continue after that. He is as horrible a manager as he was a player. Won’t admit guilt and take responsibility for his managerial failures just the same as he won’t take responsibility for that incident that all stemmed from him being shit and having no first touch.🤡🤡🤡
When football was football and it is nice to see these ex players having fun together. The war is long over.
To be fair both should have been sent off. Southgate’s tackle was a shocker too
Southgate's tackle was a bad one. You can't expect a Roy Keane to let that go unpunished!
Did you not see what happened a few seconds before that when Keane literally tries to stamp on and break his kneecap?
Keane was a thuggish player and he has no business being on the TV.
They were both red cards tho, VAR have a word 😂
Yeah that was reckless from Gareth good of Keano to put him back in the right direction
only thing reckless was Keane’s studs up challenge in the first place. Every challenge after that was calculated
@@osvnisaneek8254 Nah!
I miss these days 😅
'If he dies,he dies' Ivan Drago circa 1985.
How dis southgate not get res carded? Shoulda been two yellows
These days it would've been a red to Gareth Southgate ...before Keane's stamp, at least
Southgate showing what a wimp he is…And the moment the clip ended he wanted to get his input in before Keane scoffs it off as no big deal cos that’s what it meant for Keane.
If anyone slide tackle like SOUTHGATE today, that’s definitely a RED
Lol,. how, didnt touch him and.slidingng tackles are allowed
It’s a scissors tackle.
To be fair Keane is basically defending his health
That's what a competitive streak looks like, something Southgate doesn't have
That’s what a player who can’t control his emotions looks like.
Did you even know Southgate as a player? Sick of you Roy Keane fanboys glorifying a thug. Is 12 premiership red cards in a career something to celebrate?
Missing an FA Cup final? Missing a champions league final? Competitive streak my dog's nuts!
I can't believe they even question what colour the card will be!
Southgates tackle was a red.
Should never have been a red card. He went for the ball(s)
Ref: red card
Roy: That’s your job
Patterson also got red carded for charging into Keane in the melee
I'm not surprised at all.
Love that Irwin was Chirping up.
You'd forget ray houghton played for palace.
Notice Richard Shaw is busying himself about. Absolute helmet. He was a hatchet man. The night Eric got sent off when he ironed out Matthew Simmons at Selhurst , Shaw was trying to wind Cantona up with some shocking tackles.
Look how happy roy is😂😁😂😁 talking about it
It’s like my name is earl 🤣🤣🤣 new version my name is Roy
Name of the Commentator?
With Roy Keane 💯
If Guy Mowbray was commentating he'd say "not much in that"
Houghton v Keane epic feud
0:13 Keane would’ve been a good boxer , how fast he shrugs that guy off
Funny you say that
Coz he did attend his local boxing club for years, whilst growing up in Ireland.
He was.
@RoadTripperrr. I remember reading that a boxing coach from his youth reckoned he would have been world class and could have gone on to big things if he decided to stick with the boxing.
He might have got away with just one stamp... 😂 Best Palace team we've had tho ❤💙
Keane starts this at 01:32 when he tries to scrape his studs down Southgate's leg. Then Southgate retaliates by trying to do a scissors tackle on Keane. Then the Man U player stamps on Southgate twice. Keane definitely deserved a red and a guess Southgate got a yellow.
Keano getting a taste of his own medicine & he didn't like it 😂
Miss the good days of proper football
There was a wasp on Southgate's shirt. Keane was just trying to help
Think it needs to be reviewed by VAR.
0:19 Rijkaard played in the Prem?
No, it’s Richard Shaw 😂
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

The Thugs, The Butchers, The Bad Boys, The literal Ankle Breaker whatever you wanna called it.
And nothing to Southgate for that foul?! 😂🙈
Is that Frank Rijkaard talking to Irwin at 0:20?
No, Richard Shaw
Wait, someone got stamped on the chest and then they got up 30 seconds later? What football is this?
In keanes book he goes into detail about his struggle with his sexuality at the time this happened and that he had a fascination with inflicting pain on mens genitals. Really weird
Football used to be immense. Imagine VAR shitting their knickers sorting this out hahaha
@chrishammond your mum said exactly the same thing, son
No one pushing eric young i see.... sensible
Southgate is older than Keane 😳
Why’s that surprising ?
@@sponish0 Well, it's surprising because I always thought Keane was older than Southgate. It's just an unexpected fact for me! 😄
Had to be a Red, no messing with Roy. Zero tolerance.
Never did that to Vinnie jones now did he?
Why was that not a red card for Southgate?
Chris Armstrong flies in ready to go
Roy and Gareth are both Legends. Proven clearly here in this show of genuine sporting conduct and respect toward one another in the studio 15 years after the fact.
Southgate a legend. Really?
@StevePlatt-pe6mo yeah for me he is. Played football in a fast paced era where you still needed players to tackle like an animal to get results. Great footballing epoch. Plus..He put his nadsack on the table and took a penalty at euro 96 when other more capable penalty takers bottled it. Then took missing the penalty on the chin like a man, also did that tv advert that was very self deprecating. .. and now he's the England manager. Plus look how sporting he was with Roy keane there about that past altercation between them. Plus.. he tried to smash Roys legs off in that tackle, and I'm a big Roy Keane fan, but that took balls. Roy was a fucking titan.
@@StevePlatt-pe6moHe's the second greatest manager the English national team has ever had.
@Swoooze That isn't a good thing. England have been crap for decades, still are.
@ErickSvvv if I could rephrase your comment I would say, we haven't realised our full potential. We have room to grow still.
Get your boots back on keano we need you!

Roy Says Sorry - thats it
"And he deserved it." - Roy Keane
Why they acting like Keane fouled Southgate before the stamp?
What Roy Keane did to Erling Haaland's dad was criminal.
