It’s got nothing to do with mental health. People need to stop conflating the two things. You build character for the journey you have signed up for. Mental health is not a term to be frivolously thrown around because you have not built what it takes to focus and be disciplined. Captaincy and answering questions is not exactly a punishment by any stretch of the imagination. It should be an honour. And downing tools when you’re being paid millions to kick a ball around a pitch, is just unhinged. Imagine if the NHS or teachers just downed tools.

Fun fact: At 1:26 Gary asks “why is it that Norwegian stew is the same as scouse?”. Norwegian stew, or “Lapskaus” as we call it, is a traditional Norwegian dish, and alongside porridge, that’s what the vikings usually ate. The vikings often travelled to the UK to plunder, and more specifically, they travelled a lot to Liverpool since it’s close to the sea, and the vikings would travel with their ships. They brought porridge, and more importantly, they brought lapskaus. Lapskaus would later be shortened to “skaus” and then scouse, which is also the reason why people from Liverpool are called scousers!😄

This is a great interview and it sounds like Ole's learned a lot in retrospect. It also explains how United managed to get such a long unbeaten away run going but somehow kept stumbling at home. I wouldn't object to having him back under Sir Jim. It showed that he knew how to get his team to play to their strengths but allowed the pressure of Old Trafford to get him to play "the United way" to get the better of his judgment. Counter attacking teams can be just as exciting to watch as well as the United teams that he played in.

Ole, we love you! Personally, I would trade every post-Fergie tenure for Ole at the wheel any day. The atmosphere, the vibe was just unmatched. Yes, we lacked consistency, but we were unpredictable, we could beat everyone. We were scoring for fun. We were the comeback kings once again. We were unlucky many times, primarily with the De Gea penalty. Your time in charge is hugely underrated. Be proud of that!

And there still was a steady progress. Like Ole said in the interview, regarding the style of play with new signings like Ronaldo and Sancho, that it was about the next big step up and improving the style of play. His and the coaching staff's intentions seemed pretty genuine and it's just unfortunate the direction in which the whole thing went.

Under LvG we were simply unwatchable and Old Trafford was half-empty at times. Under Mourinho the team imploded and the atmosphere around the club was unbearable. Under Ole we were steadily progressing, we were fun to watch, we were a step away from a few trophies. I genuinely feel sorry for him to this day. He should have been given more authority to shake things up, to sell players that gave up on him and the club. I really, really hope he’ll come back to United in the future to bring us success. I’m convinced he’s capable.
