Other extreme in Boston in my GTI on the worst days of winter sometimes I'd get all the way to work 10 miles and the oil didn't even get up to 180. In fact it started registering at 100 and it would be half way to work before I'd even get there. Got my stinger in March so it hasn't seen cold or hot yet. Thanks for the video looks like a bit of a pain to change the oil. GTI was easy no panel to take off and the oil filter was on top.
i'm for sure going to do that in a future video. I honestly myself want to see how much oil gets bypassed on everyday driving if any. Then i'll do a month of hard driving and compare the differences.
Just did my oil on my 2022 Elite up in Canada at 5900km; needed 6.75L of oil & took out around 5.5L. It's honestly easier to remove both covers under the car to get at everything. The chassis is still in the way of the oil drain hole lol so yup oil everywhere. Used Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 full synthetic oil as 5L jugs were on for $28 on Amazon. My catch can was about 1/3 full so not too bad. All in all very easy to change
A few things you guys may have got wrong. The filter is 27 newton meters of torque. Roughly 17 foot pounds of torque. I didn't check the oil pan nut torque. The filter pushes on in the end of the filter cap via an interference type sleeve. It does not cut or screw on. The oil should be changed after the first 100 to 300 miles to remove assembly lubes/grease and remove small debris that comes off the motor during break in. Mine had a few tiny bits of aluminum. Most break in wear occurs during the first 100 miles of running from new. I also use a rare earth magnet on the end of my filter to catch any steel/iron particles in the oil.
This channel had potential to grow the channel if they would have stick with it I loved watching these guys. I finally got my Singer so I'm in the crew now
I traded in my Kia for a Miata, my wife still has her stinger gt1. So I just changed the oil on my Miata and was thinking of doing the stinger. Point you’d never figure the stinger cost more money. The Miata has an aluminum cover no plastic shit. Normal oil filter too. Right next to the oil plug no special tools needed
You and me both. My dealer did so much damage. I'm looking at maybe a plate that says stinger or something like that. I live in California so i don't want to spend money on a proper fix . As soon as i do i would get a fix it ticket for the no front plate :)
i know how you feel man..same thing here..im a kia technician and i've done pre-delivery inspections on the stingers.i did not install the front license plate bracket even if its required by law here in my state..i see it this way, if someone buys the car, they can decide where ever they wanna put the plate legally without drilling holes.:)
Front plates are required here in Illinois but i have never had one on any of my cars and never got any tickets for it. I am hoping that when i get my stinger it will not have anything drilled in the front bumper.
@@Alex.AL_26 Haha Illinois resident here, I left the screws in on the grill where the bracket went (in case I have to reinstall my front plates). Had em off since day 1!
If your raise the front up a little more than the back, using wood blocks, the oil will miss the cross member. I also had the oil fill cap completely off when I drained the oil. It worked for me. I have a Stinger GT AWD. Maybe that is why it worked for me. Great video.
Matthew Gibson I doubt it because it's only a couple inches away. And the cars front was up in the air. The back was still on the ground. It's just poor design. Next oil change will be with my new quick jack hopefully so that should make for a way easier oil change.
StingerGTandMe I just did an oil change in my Stinger GT AWD. The oil missed the cross member by about an inch or more. Just trying to help out. I have a Stinger GT AWD. Maybe that is why the oil missed the cross member. I had the front up a few inches more than the back. Possibly you had the front up too high to miss the cross member. I also had the oil cap completely off when the oil drained so the oil came out smooth and steady. As a precaution I wrapped the cross member with aluminum foil in case if it did splash onto it, I would not have to wipe it down after. Your video really helped me when I went to do my oil change. Thank you.
StingerGTandMe I love my new Stinger. Had it drifting and doing donuts like a hero when we had a mid April snowfall here last week. What did you do to plug your license plate holes? Looks like you did a great job. The dealership did the same thing to my front bumper? Also, it is not a "poor" design. Maybe edit that out. Not to sound weird but I like you guys, and would not want anything negative reflected back upon you. Words, especially mine, can be very powerful. If I misinterpreted anything then no problem. Thank you. A fellow car lover.
You can get the oil out the cooler if you want , just change the oil , drive around the block and change the oil again. Then you have a 99.9% of the oil changed
Thanks for the video guys! Looking for some more from you as time goes on about this vehicle. The audio was low in some area, you guys should get a couple of Lav mics so you can get better audio when you are far from the camera/phone. Keep up the work!
waynerm002 that was a rookie mistake on my video editing. We have a Rhode shotgun mic and it's singal channel. In post I duplicate it for left and right. Well I forgot to duplicate it. I will not make that mistake again 😁. Thanks for the view and comment
StingerGTandMe No worries. I’m planning on picking up a Stinger next year so I’ll be following your channel to hear about your experience with the car.
Congratulations on not being coated in oil. Not sure how you achieved that. Fortunately, my 2019 is covered with 15 changes over the next 5 years. I drive abbout 8 miles to work, so I really don't put over 10K a year.
Very weird I went to get my first oil change on my 2020 stinger GT only have 4000 miles on it… The guy said I had a leak where the filter goes and recommended not doing the oil change…. My friend put it on a lift took everything off “skid plates” and I see there’s some oil but I have a feeling the guy put it there because he didn’t wanna do the job…He told me to take it to the dealership
Just did my first oil change and tire rotation for my GT2. This video was a huge help. TY! BTW, had all four corners of my car jacked up and since the car was level to the ground, the draining oil wasn't even close to hitting the cross bar. Also, I'm leaving the under body panels off. Easier access for the next time around and I don't buy the engineer's aerodynamics sales pitch. 👍
Great video. Can you please do a separate video of how you jacked the car up and got it onto those planks. And the design and assembly of those planks of wood. Thanks
pnm-wmb I can if it is requested enough. I don't honestly like jacking up the car the way that we did. There is a specific spot under each side of the car. It has the pinch welds. And it's easy to see. Right behind the front wheels. We raised each side and through the block under. My buddy with the STI made them. I think he said there 2x10. 4 of them screwed with around 5-6 screws per going into the board below.
StingerGTandMe I would invest in a pair of Race Ramps. Best purchase I ever made to lift the front of a vehicle, without sliding. A little pricey but worth it.
Damned good is this video. Subscribed to your channel immediately. Thanks for your effort and work. Keep it up guys! Great job! (Maybe the camera set up should be improved. :)
Quick question, just wondering what happened but Trac and stab are off and as I step on it from zero to 60 the engine loses power and slows me down as the rpms decrease, this happened on first gear
what about it? doing your own oil change has no effect on warranty unless you did it completely wrong and use the wrong oil. I have the instructions from the KIA dealership on oil changes that told me exactly what to do. Warranty still fine. Its a huge misconception about oil changes and warranty. No where in the manual does it say oil changes and services must be done by KIA dealership. Thanks for watching.
Alexandr V That is crazy. I did not know that. It actually says in writing you have to take it to the dealer to keep warranty? I just don't trust the dealer to do it right. I've had dealerships overfill the oil in my cars more than once. So I'm paranoid
StingerGTandMe thanks for the info. I just read the owners manual online and it states scheduled maintenance is every 6,000 miles under normal usage. So full synthetic oil would be the better choice but doesn’t say it’s required so I guess synthetic blend would be ok too I believe.
4ulight I agree. It should be ok. You can also call your KIA dealer and ask them if the oil they use is a blend or full. That would give you a good starting point.
Look into Brad Penn high performance oil its loaded with ZDDP great for cams and bearings cant buy it off from stores because of the high level of ZDDP I get it off Amazon buy the case.I also use Polydyn TX7 every other change its teflon you use it in place of 1 qt of oil and it pure not half oil you can get it at amazon also.Been using it for 15years.They make it for auto or Manuel trannys and power steering and rear ends also its good stuff.

My dealership had over filled my optima twice. And my subaru once with my STI. Those guys look at your car as a number. Get it in and out and on to the next. They will never take the proper car that you as an owner would. Having said that if i did trust my dealer more i would for sure be taking the car to them.
First oil change and dealership overfilled 1 1/2 too much. Didnt install all the bolts and plastic lock pins causing the left wheel well to rub against tire.
Tjitse Kerkstra we work with ft lbs so you will have to convert it. I'm sure Google has a converter for that. The drain plug is 25.3-32 ft lbs. The filter cap is 26 ft lbs exactly
I've been watching your channel seeing the mods that I'll most likely be doing when I buy my stinger soon. Do you still own the car? How has it held up for ~2 years?
Dat Boi according to who? I have the KIA instructions in hand and I'll follow those over anybody else. This is how KIA would change it if I take it in. Maybe if the filter is up high you would take it out first but this is at the bottom.
Well i work as a kia mechanic, we have instructions directly from kia to remove the filter even if its on the bottom to make the oil drain properly. so the fact that you say kia would do it like that is kinda bull. this was all friendly advice so why get triggered. nice car anyway.
Dat Boi I have the same instructions that you were given. They don't say that. The KIA service manager printed out there instructions for me. The oil had no problem draining because you remove the oil cap up top. There is your air flow for the oil to drain not the oil filter. To each his own. 🤣 I'll follow the instructions that were given to me.

Sorry but your math is wrong (guy on the left NOT doing the oil change) . 0.29 quarts is NOT 9 ounces....it’s exactly 4.64 ounces. We’re talking about FLUID OUNCES not weight ounces. Not trying to be a dick but some people might take you incorrect conversion and end up overfilling their oil level. 7 quarts and 4.64 ounces is what you meant to say..... sorry for being a dick..... video wasn’t too bad though.
Sorry, but your math is wrong Scott. A fluid quart is 32 ounces. 32 x .29 = 9.28. And I don't know what distinction you're trying to make between fluid ounces and weight ounces (in all-caps, no less) but if you're taking about water, the volume and weight are the same. There's an old saying, "A pint's a pound the world around". In other words, a pint of water (16 fluid ounces) weighs a pound (16 weight ounces).
7.2 is very reasonable considering it's a Twin Turbo v6. A 05-07 Cobalt SS takes 6.5qts in reality usually 7 full quarts with filter. The LSJ is also a 2.0l with no turbo.
Give me a break. You guys couldn't sound any more amateurish doing an oil change. Oh, it needs 7.29 qts. You sound like it's your first car and you've never worked on one before. This or any other general use street car is not that exacting on oil capacity. It's a 7 qt. change. There is at least .29 qts still left in the engine. You sound like you want to use an eye dropper the measure down to the drop. Come on guys, sound a little more like you know what you're doing.
Try watching the whole video before you make dumb comments. 12:45 we mention this already. We already know you can't drain all the oil. Thanks for repeating something we already said though. 😂 The instructions say if you watched the car holds 8.1 quarts. You will drain 7.29 roughly .
I did watch the entire video. So you finally mentioned it, it took you "experts" forever to get to it. Making it sound like this was so confusing. It is a fairly nice car, but you need to sound like you know a little about what you are talking about. I'm sure the dip stick on this car is the same as most all other cars. It gives you a range of fill levels. So you look the next day of usage and verify where the fill lever settles. My statement stands, try to look more like you know what you are doing. changing the oil isn't the hardest thing to do.
Maybe put in a Fumoto Drain valve so you never have to worry about oil hitting that bar and makes changes MUCH easier in the future
Ernesto Ortega I agree next oil change I'm going to do this. Thanks for the comment.
My Kia stinger takes 5-w20 I got 12k miles last night, love the cat can’t get any better unless you do bolt ons and get a time or some
I couldnt finish watching. "Thicker oil for break in"... That did it.

I think it's wrong that the car is not level during oil drain, only front wheels on the wooden planks.
Kia does not use break-in oil..😁 it's semi synthetic Quaker state 5w30.. I use Pennzoil full synthetic
I just realize my oil pan is different my bolt is way further from the bar
Mine too. I bought a fumoto valve before my first oil change and come to find out mine is different. Any explanation for this?
What version oil are you using. 5w30 grade but they offer different versions.
That cover is so annoying, but I can kinda understand why it’s there. It’s just extra work to do the oil change
Seems weird Kia gives you service port for the oil filter and not the drain pan. The drain plug can't be reached from behind the aero panel?
Tyler Apanell No the back part must be removed in order to get to the drain plug unfortunately.

고생많다 bro~^^
push pin rivets
If its green you should worry about it......I'm out.
you should have the dealer do ur oil changes that way once that engine seizes from sludge like other kia motors kia will be responsible
They change the braking oil because they need money.
7.2 quart is a lot of oil!
dedan2 turbos generate a lot of heat.
7.2 is very reasonable considering it's a Twin Turbo v6.
A 05-07 Cobalt SS takes 6.5qts in reality usually 7 full quarts with filter. The LSJ is also a 2.0l with no turbo.
Try fumoto valve.
Its called using your muscles to pull off the oil filter! Heard about it before?
40% done.a poor job done
You gotta wear goggles when changing oil like that. Shit might fall into your eyes.
Spillow it's a new car. There ain't no rust or anything to fall. And your just a girl
@@dennisweifenbach2647 how about you stop complaining and watch something else. Let other people enjoy there videos
Daniel Zuniga - Ineptness is hard to stop complaining about. So why are you wasting your time responding, just watch and enjoy???
Dennis Weifenbach don’t like them..don’t watch them. They are the shit.
Does any body know?
