  • BEFORE YOU LEAVE A COMMENT: I didn't post this for pity, attention, or advice on how to prevent hate comments. This is just a PSA to my audience that I won't be active in the comments section as much anymore, that RUclips comments are kinda garbage, and that I prefer Discord.
If you found me because of this video, rad, but please watch the videos where I actually make art before you decide to subscribe!! thank you!!!!!
    one of my art videos:
    • Why I don't worry abou...
I've been getting some really ..... interesting hate comments on my videos lately, and I need to talk about it. It's unfortunately had a pretty negative effect on my motivation to post, level of activity in our community, and mental health.
I'll be more active on our discord server going forward: / discord
Hate comments are a part of the internet that sucks but we all accept as par for the course of sharing yourself and your artwork online, but at a certain point it goes past constructive criticism to cruel personal attacks. Especially when they revolve around my appearance, my weight, etc when I KNOW male creators in this space don't receive that kind of stuff.
In this video, I want to share with you some of the hate comments I've been getting about my art, my personal appearance, and my character. I want to talk about how it feels, how to prevent it, and why I won't be answering RUclips comments for awhile.
(Full disclosure: I regularly remove hate comments from the channel and rely a lot on RUclips's auto-moderation features. I leave genuine criticism up and try to respond when I feel that it's appropriate)

Haters especially hate successful people because it makes their insecurities, weaknesses, traumas, and wounds exposed. So instead of dealing with it in a good way.. they attack those who exhibit the character and qualities they lack.

I watched your whole video carefully and I absolutely know women do face this way more than men. Hopefully this might help a little...
Human beings can vary SO widely from their base animal on one end, to near enlightened being on the other. It may go against our nature of wanting to treat people as equals, but in reality they just aren't.
The people who make these kinds of comments are pathetic, cowardly, weak, have a damaged sense of empathy, and have a number of deep issues - issues that increased sharply with the birth of the internet. Your reaction is exactly what they are hoping for, because they're sociopaths. I wouldn't want to be in their sad state.
What that means is that, at some point, you can consider them like a barking dog behind a fence. I know, easier said than done. But one can begin to see that membership in humanity is something people can include or exclude themselves from.
And when they do exclude themselves, we can think of them like a natural disaster. They are completely dominated by the circumstances that led to their inhumanity and the chain of events that produced such 'people' is as mindless as a tornado hitting your house.
This perspective shift - seeing a certain percentage of monsters as an inevitable and meaningless noise - can take place over time. As it does, it can help some people to simply ignore those whose words aren't worth anything.
As an artist myself, I think all people of all levels of experience have something valuable to share - please don't stop, and best wishes.

It's not the community that supports you, there's just bad people that are psychotic. I've been following certain channels and they all had the same problem, but after I told them what's going on they understood and ran their channels normally. You don't get bad comments, you get people that want to be disturbed, that really are bad natured, they won't get along with anyone and are just looking to grief, that's what psychotic means. Let me give you some examples from channels that have large number of users, what has been happening there. There was a 50+yo showing hate to a host that was about half his age and having the daring to tell him how to run his business. Other channels hosts were told with a very serious tone about how they pronounce certain words, why is the host being black, sexual abuse, or what to do with their pets. These bad people just go away, other come and go away if you don't reply. Don't try to reason or explain anything, if you talk to on their subject do it politely and without ever referring to them, so you don't flame them. This happens all over RUclips, it's not just your channel. With the attitude of giving up on the community how do you expect to run the channel? People say “when you will be older you will understand how to ignore them”. But no! I´ve been bullied for years in school until I wanted to end my life when I was 14...and it still affected me in adulthood. It hits hard when even a stranger is telling you to be ugly, fat or whatsoever...but I learned that these people just have issues with themselves, hate themselves and feel the need to crave on someone else´s apparent weaknesses. So it has nothing to do with you when people are hating, they have a problem with themselves and reflect that on you like a mirror. They maybe just want to let out some anger and think you would be a good target. Giving them attention is maybe what they want. The best would be to just delete them :)

There's always been a rift between smart and stupid people. The internet just made this way more obvious. But looking at this situation rationally, there should be an almost uplifting conclusion to that. You are on right side of humanity and those haters are not. Unfortunately most of them aren't really aware of that and find themselves in a constant cloud of anger with occasional performances of happiness. But anger is a powerful burden to carry and being mean to other people seems to be an easy relief.
Those people are hard to fix. I've tried through rational comments and trying to find a common ground. It's very hard and rarely works. So what remains is to feel sorry for them and in no way make their problems your own. The only thing that should bother you is, that you can't fix them. You are great, as is what you do.

It’s good to push back, to advocate against online bullying, but it’s better to do it from a less triggered place. Trolls are not going away, and as far as feeling hurt you’re much better off talking about your insecurities and traumas in the privacy of a therapist’s office. Don’t bare your soul to a slew of strangers, expecting understanding and compassion. Trolls and bullies will use this as ammunition. Among the well-wishers you’ll find parasocial parasitism too. They try to get a reaction whether it's the RUclipsr responding, the RUclipsr making a response video like this one, and/or just hoping to hurt your feelings in ANY degree.

I know that I'll watch back your videos when i start my own channel and art career. I hope you screenshot good comments, particularly from this video, so you have a reminder that the vast majority of us are on your side. We value you as a person and your channel as a resource. Thank you for being vulnerable! 🕊🕊🕊 For some reason people feel way too entitled to people's appearances just because they have eyes to look at other's looks, but we see with our minds and it's sad how many people don't see beauty in every other human being. Btw i see beauty as a feeling / a vibe and as light and authenticity. But this is not okay and thank you for sharing and i'm sorry that happened. 💌

Your video popped up in my recommendations and lovely, I just want to say, you are so brave to show up on RUclips like you do and share your gift. So many people WISH they had the guts to this...and that's often where comments like that come from, a place of jealousy or anger in themselves that they don't have the guts to put themselves out there like you do.
I feel bad for them really. It's sad that the only way for them to feel good is to tear others down.
Keep doing your thing girl, keep making that money!

Please, people make more money online compared to a crap "real job". Do what she does every day, do what you love, make yourself vulnerable and open to scrutiny of every kind. People are ridiculous and haters who are disordered are going to make comments. You go and continue on. I'm sorry, I'm an abuse survivor myself. It's very hard. You're the first person I saw who posted about their income from being a youtuber/artist. When I saw those videos I was so excited because I finally had a picture of what a job like this could look like and what kind of income and workload you can expect. Your advice is incredibly valuable. I'm sorry people think they can just come and criticise your appearance, it kinda seems to me like they don't have eyes anyway. You're beautiful, your face is incredibly cute, your style of clothing is chic but comfy! And! It's nobody's business! Your body is yours and its shape is beautiful and perfect. It all really shows that these people don't understand what your channel is about despite you saying it all the time. I'm sorry it's giving you such a hard time and that it's bringing back trauma memories. You deserve better than that and I hope you don't let it weigh you down too much. I hope you keep doing what you love, even if taking a break from some parts of it is necessary

Just hearing about what you go through is just something that would destroy some people, but you’re out here, talking about it and sharing your experience and I couldn’t be more proud of you ☺️
You’re out here sharing your knowledge/experience and passion for art has honestly helped me regain focus on what it is I wanted to do, instead of jumping around from illustration, comics and animation I’m sticking to animation and your videos have helped me so much more than I can even express.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do! The art world is a much better community with you in it 🥰

This video serves as a reminder to me to just leave nice comments to the creators I like. I have been binge watching your channel since I found it but haven't actually left a comment. It's easy for people to say "oh ignore the haters, they're losers, they're jealous" etc but the reality is that those comments are still nasty to read. I'll counter them with letting you know I'm supporting you and I think you do a great job! I'll be showing up on every video now ;)

I'm really sorry this happening to you. i hope you're doing better.

I’m so sorry for the stress you’ve gone through with horrible comments. I’m happy for you that you decided to post about it. It’s healthy to talk about it and it allows people to show how much positivity you’ve shown them personally and generally for the art community on a larger scale. I’m very happy that I found your channel. The guidance and examples you show in your videos are incredibly helpful and encouraging and it’s very much appreciated! You are so beautiful! Any hateful comments unfortunately come from a place of self hate and unhappiness in their own lives. It can be very hurtful and confusing, but please try to pity them if anything. It in no way reflects on you, it only reflects on them. It’s unfortunate that they take it out on others and choose to attempt to spread pain. It’s totally unnecessary. I have tried making video content and I agree that it is in fact very difficult and puts you in a vulnerable position. It’s not something that just anyone can do easily without notable effort. It is hard work that takes dedication just like any other job ❤️. I can only imagine how difficult of a challenge it must be to go through seeing that stuff, but please stay strong. You got this! ❤

Normally I don’t comment and just watch and like your content ❤. But this really hit home and is so beyond wrong.
I am an artist too and have always wanted to make a RUclips channel. I love conversation and exchanging ideas. I’ve played games for many years too and always thought it would be so fun to have a twitch channel. The hate and inappropriate things I experienced by having a presence on online console games, has made me scared to go beyond that. I feel like it taught me a lesson like, if I venture beyond that it will only continue or get worse. To be fair, I haven’t tested this out of fear. So I share my art and engage with a wonderful community online via twitter under a pseudo identity.
Kelsey, I feel for you so wholeheartedly you couldn’t know. You’re an amazing force as a woman, as an artist, as a person putting themselves out there. I admire you and root for you as someone who is brave and talented at something I’m not sure I’d ever be able to do. You are so talented, strong, and brave! My comment probably won’t get read, but I hope my positive energy for you gives you strength to keep going and take care of yourself.❤
